This is my 3rd visit in about a 3 week span, finding myself here again means something good. For what it is, I’m going to give this 5 stars. It’s cheap or fairly priced to my standards and I don’t like spending much on food. So a little over 8 dollars for a poki bowl that tastes really good is ACCEPTABLE!!!(Adventure time reference) I can see the workers here are trying hard to do their work during busy hours which I respect. I love the food here and I plan to make at least 2 visits a month here.

My hubcap and I had never been to the Hikari sushi restaurant before it was rebranded as a «poke bar», but being lovers of poke, we came to try it and were not disappointed. It’s a small establishment, but includes a 5 – 6 seat sushi bar and a cute, umbrella-covered patio area where we sat an enjoyed the cool breeze. The new pine tables and cushioned benches still have the smell of freshly sawed wood. The place was understaffed for the brief spike of patrons that we arrived with, so service was very slow for 15 minutes as the one and only waitress was overwhelmed serving four tables simultaneously. Our harried waitress was appropriately apologetic about the delay, and service improved after each table placed their order, but it was never spot-on. With sushi, we always start with shishito peppers, but since they served the last to the diners next to us, we tried the spicy edamame instead. They were tasty with a good kick, but a bit oily. We also had the yellowtail cheek(Hamachi Kama) which was very juicy, sweet and tender, and the baked green mussels(also good, but standard). Then came the poki bowl, which we ordered with the«original» sauce, plus a side of the«spicy» sauce, just for drill. There’s a choice of four proteins that can be combined in any manner; we opted for the tuna alone. The bowl was filled with a bed of salad greens(rice is also an option), then artfully layered with meat, cucumber, roe, imitation crab, alfalfa sprouts, onions, and avocado, all arranged to make the visual presentation delightfully appealing. The balance of meat to veggies was perfect. The original sauce was good, but the side of spicy sauce enhanced the flavors even more. We will definitely go back for the delicious poke, in spite of the slow service, and next time we’ll go spicy all the way(with a side of their screamin’ sauce, just to up the ante).

I have to say that my judgement is for the 20 minutes my fiancée and I were there and didn’t even try the food. I also never write a review unless the place is awesome and worth telling others to try it out. I love poke bowls and when I drove past it Sunday afternoon when they were closed I decided to come back on Monday to try it out. Their new sign and promotion is all about their poke bowls and make your own sushi burrito. We walk in and the server/waiter asked where we would like to sit so we went into their outside patio. They seemed on the slower side for dinner time. 2 ladies at the sushi bar, 1 family of 3 that walked in seconds before us and a gentleman standing around waiting for what seemed like his takeout. So being excited for poke the server only gave us the regular Sushi menu with the happy hour menu on the back. My fiancé had to go inside take a picture of their poke bowl menu wall with his cell phone and bring it back to me to decide what I was going to order. For only having 2 other customers and 4 employees working– service was ridiculously slow. And when you have a hungry man that’s not patient we ended up leaving. My tip 1– more attentive service 2– poke bowl menu along with sushi menu.

Looks like this place is just getting their bearings after switching owners. Service is disorganized and there are no menu explanations for anything. Sushi is average nothing special. I probably won’t be back but I am glad I got to give it a shot!

New owner… sushi is ok, menu has no explanations, and the service is horrible. The inside looks nice but I miss the service of the previous owner. And what the heck is a sushi burrito?

Avoid this place at all costs… Clueless new owners !!! Placed an online order & went to pick it up & they knew nothing about it even after I showed them the paid invoice. They had previously made my wife & daughter wait 45 minutes for their call in order so I decided to give them a 2nd chance… huge mistake !!!

When my boyfriend and I came in, we sat there for a couple minutes and we never got a menu. He had to ask for a menu. Our first impression was that they have bad service. Then we ordered 2 poki bowls and a gyoza. Fortunately, they were really good. They charge you a lot less compared to the North Shore poke. Well they charge for about the same but they give you avocado, cucumber, imitation crab, etc… They mix the fishes with a sauce of your choice. When you ask for spicy, they actually give you spicy. Their gyoza is good too! This lady was about to bring us our poki bowls, but she realized it was missing something, so she told the chef to add it in! You can see them prepare your food through the glass :) I like that kind of stuff. The service got better, though. They made sure to refill my boyfriend’s water, and this one guy gave us lots of smile!

Hey guys, this restaurant closed but it change to a new one name similar HIKARIPOKIBAR under different owner, japanese chef nicer interior, better service and food. You should definitely try this new place. It got an awsome poki bowl that you can design yourself, first you pick white rice or brown rice or spring mix or wonton chips, and then you pick your fish(tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp). It also comes with a little white onion, sprout, and smelt egg for topping. You also pick one of the sauce they have for your poki bowl(original, spicy garlic, screaming which is awsome, or gluten free). They also still have the cook food for some of us that don’t eat fish nor raw fish

I ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was the worst that I’ve ever had in my entire life. It tasted like dry, one day old, microwaved chicken. On the bright side, the rice tasted fine. By the way, I didn’t even touch the veggies.

The salmon nigiri was some of the best I’ve had and I’m a critic or raw meats on my sushi especially being from seattle were seafood is amazing… I also had two rolls — dragon roll and tiger roll were greatly made and super fresh… All you can eat specials and the sushi chief and waitress gave exceptional service

Good place to go for lunch. Tried their teriyaki chicken, miso soup, rice and California Roll combo. I also had a Sprite. Service is accommodating and friendly. Planning on returning with a friend. California Rolls here taste good. Next time I might try the tempura. Prices are reasonable and the service is fast.

Thought the quality and value was good. I ordered a beef combo box which included rolls, salad, rice, tempura and miso soup. The salad dressing with rice vinegar was excellant. Nicely packaged. Very few options in the area for employees to find a high variety of healthy lunches.

Just came here for lunch with my coworkers. We wanted to get Quiznos in the same plaza, but they’ve closed down. So here we go to this place just down a couple doors. I got a Rainbow roll since that was the only thing that looked appetizing to me. Everything else had something fried or mayo in it. My coworkers got the Mountain Roll, and salmon sashimi(5 pc) and soft shell crab salad. The food took a lot longer than I expected to come out. The Rainbow was not very well rolled and the fish on top was very pale and paltry. The pieces of fish on top were also the throwaway scraps from a whole fish steak too because they weren’t in whole cuts but small pieces. The fish doesn’t taste fresh at all. The Mountain roll didn’t look any better to me when it came out for my coworker. It was drenched in eel and mayo sauce, probably to cover up the unfresh fish taste. Service here isn’t great either. It takes you forever to flag down the one server. Things take forever. We had asked for the check and I think had to sit for 20 minutes just waiting on it. I would give this place more stars if the price were a bit cheaper. I just don’t think the price tag and quality match at all.

I don’t think there is much to say here. The fish was awful. What else is there to say when it comes to a sushi place?

Driest. Chicken. Ever. Came here for lunch with a few co-workers who really like this place. Based upon their recommendation, I had the Chicken Teriyaki Box. It is a basic bento box style lunch, with miso soup, salad, a few pieces of tempura, a few pieces of California roll, white rice and sliced chicken topped with teriyaki sauce. The miso soup and salad were pretty good — I especially liked the salad’s ginger dressing. The 3 pieces of tempura were OK, but the shrimp was the smallest portion I have ever seen. The California roll was kind of mushy, and the ‘krab’ was heavily laced with mayo(?). I don’t usually eat California rolls(to me they don’t count as sushi!) so maybe this is normal. The chicken was disappointing. A generous portion, but so dry(overcooked?) that it was nearly impossible to eat. I found myself dipping it in soy sauce(!) to chew it. :/ While the restaurant was bright and clean and the service was friendly, the dry chicken was a chore. I really hope that we were there on an ‘off’ day, and the food is regularly better than what I experienced.

Food: — Chicken salad $ 7.99 — not but not worth the price. the salad is like the big lettuce bag you got from costco for $ 1.99. the chicken is very thinly sliced and very hard bc they cooked it too long. the salad dressing is good but they dont give enough. Service: — korean owned restaurant. not so friendly service but they get their job done. thats all that really matter in a small food chain like this i suppose. Price: — lunch special combination might be the best deal out of this place. the beef and chicken teriyaki combo cost less than $ 10 and it seems like it is their most popular lunch item. you get 4pc CA rolls, miso, salad, small bowl of rice, and beef/chicken. not bad but nothing really stood out in terms of taste. — rolls are pretty pricey(average $ 10/roll) and didnt look so appetizing. i recommend spend your $$ elsewhere and get a better quality sushi rolls.

Food is decent. He gave me a fatty salmon in my sashami plate. The sushi chef is Korean and has bad english but it was okay. The quality of the fish is okay. Its not entierly very fresh though.

When it comes to eating sushi, I don’t need anything fancy, I just need a solid roll or sashimi that will satisfy my hunger pains for a split second until I’m inevitably in need of more food again in an hour(pretty sure that’s the average time frame for sushi satiation). I’d prefer to pay less than $ 5 for a simple roll, but sometimes the more creative ones get your attention, such as was the case during a recent Lake Forest sushi pit stop. I popped in, ordered a more high-end roll, was given a large glass of water and then merely 5 minutes later I had a hefty caterpillar of fish in front of me. It definitely wasn’t skimpy, it definitely wasn’t cheap($ 12ish), but it definitely got the job done. No frills or thrills at this place, but they’ve got sushi and a television, so there’s that.
