Proboards

I had a similar negative experience. My discussion forum chirotalk was hosted for nine years. Thank a company approached me demanding to remove content. I refused so they went to proboards who terminated the entire board with no warning, despite terms that stated they were not responsible for the content. If you read their board terms closely it says they can terminate any board at any time without cause. For this reason you can’t trust them as a board host because you can lose all content. I have read numerous complaints against them where they do exactly this. Avoid them.

I had a forum for some years, which was ok, nothing special really.
Then one day, completely of the blue they accused us for adult role playing, which is probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The users were all danish, so we obviously wrote in danish, something according to proboards must mean that you’re an adult roleplayer… Then I had to deal with the nameless faceless brainless abuse department, that just wanted me to delete several random threads — so I did that, and we had a good laugh.
Fast forward a couple of months, and one night our forum has been terminated by the brainless abuse department. You don’t even as an admin get an email telling you what happened! So you have to go through the support department, and then to the abuse department. And they just tell you, «proboards have the right to terminate the forum, and it will not be restored» That’s the response you get, when you politely try to tell them, that somebody must have made an honest mistake.
I can only encourage everybody to choose another forum hosting service, cause one day, your forum is gone, and I guess it’s called the abusing department, because they get off on abusing and terrorizing people.
It’s just sad really.
