I would give 0 stars if I could.
I was excited about getting a quote from Sunrun because of their relationship with Costco, costco cashback savings and extended roof warranty so I made an (phone) appointment with them. They called me back the next day saying that they don’t have anyone available at that time, but can offer a different time slot so we rescheduled (twice — once because the original time slot wasn’t available, and once because the agent clicked the button too quick and I wanted a different timeslot). Either way, the appointment time came and no one called. When I called into the corporate office, they said they can’t find the agent and apologized for him not calling me and asked me to set up a different time — this time a full week in advance. The day before appointment I got a text confirming the appointment and the agent introducing himself asking for the typical information. The text confirmation showed the time being an hour off so I called into the office to confirm the correct time. I tripled checked with them and they reassured me everything was scheduled and the time offset is simply because the agent is in a different timezone.
Finally the day came, and no one calls… again. This time, I call the agent directly who was surprised about the appointment saying he doesn’t work on saturdays and he was at his daughters gymnastics event. He said he’ll call into the special Sunrun costco office to see if they can get another agent on the phone with me to discuss and promised to call me back regardless just to follow up in 2 minutes. To this day, no one from Sunrun ever called me back — but considering how they run their business, that’s probably a good thing.
I’ve reported this to both Costco as well as the reps at Costco. This company has done nothing but waste my time and clearly has no respect for its (potential) customers. Stay away!

PLEASE STOP CALLING! I have no idea how you got my home number. It’s only been a few weeks since we’ve installed our home phone and this company has called day and night incessantly despite our plea to stop calling!

My experience with Sunrun has gone above and beyond my expectations! Jesse Dean was our sales rep (referred by my mom who had a great experience as well) and he was very thorough in his explanation of solar. We agreed and the process began. The installation date came quickly and the crews showed up on time. As they were finishing the job my neighbor came over and complained the glare into her house was too much for her. The installers said they couldn’t do anything at that time as the plans were already signed off by the city. My neighbor called the city to complain and they told Sunrun they would not do the final sign off if they didn’t fix the glare. Sunrun dealt directly with my neighbor and came up with a solution to satisfy both my neighbor and me. The installers came back to my house removed most of my panels and reinstalled them in a slightly different place. (at no extra cost to me). My neighbor signed off on the project and we had approval from the city fairly quickly. Shortly after I got the OK from SCE to turn on my solar I lost all the power in my house. We looked outside and it was only our house that had lost power. I called SCE they told me how to reset the breaker and I called Sunrun the next day as SCE said they weren’t the reason I lost power. Sunrun told me it would be 5 days after the service order was put in to have someone look at my panel and figure out what happened. I called Jesse Dean and he called to report my problem as well. Kevin the service technician came out today and examined the breaker box and replaced the main breaker. He was very polite, on time and fixed the problem. I had some issues that were far from the norm and Sunrun went above and beyond!

AVOID SUNRUN LIKE THE PLAGUE! Believe the comments & reviews. Actions speak louder than words. Booked 2 weeks ago through Costco. Trying to be conscientious I waited around the house 3 hours for the appointment. 15 minutes after our appointment time I contacted Jesse Dean a sales rep inquiring about his delay. Sounding unaware of our appointment he claimed they must have double booked… WEAK EXCUSE! He was in Long Beach an hour and a half away. No courtesy call, no apologies, nothing but BS. Costco reevaluate your relationship with this company, it’s a stain on your reputation.

We have had a pleasant experience with Sunrun. Jesse Dean reviewed a competitive quote from Solar City and designed a system that is cheaper and produces more energy. The installation went well and we are up and running. The system seems to be producing energy at the rate we were quoted. I am happy to have chosen Sunrun, and feel good about going solar. We are helping the environment and saving money!

Beyond happy and impressed by the entire process with them. Installers, sales, customer service — all amazing! Very impressed.

This has been one of my best investments and I could not recommend Sunrun more highly… what a quality firm and easy to deal with from start to finish. Brandon Walker is the rep that was recommended by a good friend and from our first meeting I wanted to work with him and Sunrun. What a difference from some of the other high-​pressure companies. He was very upfront, methodical and alway had my best interest first and foremost. I bought the system and it looks like it will be a 3−4yr ROI. Owning was best for me but they have great lease deals too. Brandon was there for from start to finish and even now is excited to see my electrical bills as I am… the savings have been amazing and just keeps getting better. It is like a «gift that keeps on giving». The installation team is great too… they have a team that are really professional and care to make it a near perfect and sanitary installation. I did like the fact that they were all Sunrun employees and not a separate contractor. I am really anal in this area and they cared as much as i did which makes for a wonderful experience. I had the pleasure of working with Dave Pratt at Sunrun to talk about my solar needs. He was very attentive, thorough and open in what options would be best for me. There was no hard sale and he was very transparent in everything he showed me. I didn’t want solar panels to show in front of my home and he was able to show how I could still benefit from solar. I would save $ 1,000 per year. I actually did not follow through with getting solar as I will be selling my home in about nine months. The installation and inspection process takes about three months so the savings didn’t work out for me. That being said, if I were planning to remain in my home, I would contact Dave and have solar installed. When I purchase my next home, I will call Dave in a heartbeat.

I got 4 quotes for solar so that I could make an informed decision, and I did a lot of my own research on the side, and I can confidently say from start to finish that I am glad I went with Sunrun. For starters, my sales rep Kendra stood out as the most helpful and knowledgeable rep I spoke with. She made sure that I felt taken care of and answered my calls/​texts/​emails quickly and at any time of the day or night. My project planner Vanessa was also always there to guide me through the process and make things easy for me. I have heard horror stories about other companies that come out to the house after you sign up and change things on you, but I have to say that Sunrun delivered on every promise, from system design to installation. The install crew was very friendly and respectful. It was the cleanest, neatest experience I have ever had with someone working on my house. The lead guy on that crew was Dallen/​Dellen? He didn’t mind when I bothered him while he worked, asking questions on what everything does. And the best part of it was that when they turned the system on, it is producing way more than what Sunrun had said it would. I would have paid a good deal more for the experience I had, but luckily I didn’t need too, because the price was very competitive too. I just can’t thank them enough for making my solar experience awesome. I will refer again and again.

I have used SoCal Solar since 2002 and they have been great. I highly recommend them… I have tried to reach them over the last week and have been unable to contact them and their answering machine does not pick up. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Stop don’t do it they are miss leading with false information that I as a new widow am dealing with. My bills are way too high, much higher than Edison ever was. DO NOT SIGH THAT CONTRACT!!!

Dave Pratt of Sunrun is the best contractor/​sales person I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. His attention to detail and pleasing the customer is absolutely the best. In all the years and upgrades to home in Anaheim Hills, Dave is the first person that has impressed us. If you need him, you call him and your call is returned within a few minutes. He is «hands-​on» and came to our home often to make sure things were going exactly like he promised.
We’ve never met a salesperson that was so attentive and thorough.

At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get Solar but I met with Scott to get more information. He did an amazing job answering my questions and taking our actual bills and showing us the actual savings. Every person I dealt with was amazing. The emails I received explaining the time line was so helpful, I had no idea it was such a long process. Vanessa always took the time to keep me in the loop of our progress and Scott always went beyond his role to get answers for me. I’ve recently had a lot of work done at our home and have never dealt with such a professional group of people. I would highly recommend them. The install team took the time to explain the whole system and how it worked. I love Sunrun!

We took a serious look at three companies for Solar. SunRun was one of those. We found their customer service to be sub-​standard. Their sales rep was giving false information. We asked to be escalated to someone in senior management and was eventually put in touch with their VP, Emmitt Summers. MR. Summers was no better. He was very rude and not knowledgable about SunRun products and services. For these reasons, we opted to go with a much more professional company. I would highly recommend NOT doing business with this company!

My first review was terrible. I was ready to scratch the entire project. My first project manager was terrible there was no communication, and my solar project was 2 – 3 months behind schedule. Sunrun transferred my project to a new project manager and he was magnificent. Shion Evans, got the ball rolling and had the city inspectors out to inspect the system 5 days before the original date, and the best part he stayed in contact the entire time. These 5 stars are for Shion and Shion only. Thank you

My husband and I were sold that we wanted to go solar until we noticed that if we ever wanted to pay off the lease balance early, we would be getting SCREWED financially! The only way this deal makes sense is to do a pre-​paid lease or plan on making payments for 20 years. There is definitely a pre-​paid penalty (even though they tell you there is not) if you want to lease and pay off the balance early.
We were quoted $ 3k down and $ 171 per month and they say the total cost of the system is $ 23k because they take the $ 10k tax credit. If we paid off the lease after 3 years, our balance would still be $ 24k. That’s 27% interest! $ 10k they make on financing in 3 years. It would be cheaper for me to put it on my credit card and pay them a lower interest rate.
My advice is to wait until you have the liquid cash to either purchase the system and take the tax credit yourself or pre pay the entire lease up front.

My wife and I heard about REC Solar through a friend and of my wife. Once their REC Solar system was installed they simply raved about it. After hearing about the incredible savings and the other wonderful benefits, my wife and I decided to go with REC Solar.
We’ve only had our solar system for about a week now and so for it’s been great. What I was really impressed with was the three young gentlemen that preformed our installation. Josh„ and Sean made a great team together. All three seem to take pleasure in answering all my questions not only with a great deal of knowledge but with a very professional attitude. It was easy to see that all three loved their jobs. When the installation was completed, I was invited up on the roof to for a closer look and to talk about the system. I had not expected that. All 19 solar panels & conduits were very neatly laid out, and once again all questions were answered. VERY IMPRESSIVE!
So, I just wanted to give a great big «» to Josh„ and Sean for doing such a fantastic job on my solar system, and doing so with such professionalism. Thanks!

Good News. I have to give credit where it is due. After my review I was contacted by the GM of the company. I was very impressed by the personal phone call since most large companies do not take customer complaints seriously! After a long talk, all our issues were addressed.
I am happy to say that our system has been working for about 2 months and our system is producing 15−20% more than the estimated production. I got our first bill from SCE and it was for $ 0.95 only.
I am only giving them 4 stars instead of 5 because I had to get the upper management involved to get the problem solved.

I started the process with Brandon my salesperson. He was not pushy, asked questions of what I wanted with a system. I bought the system instead of leasing other companies wanted to steer me away from purchasing and into leasing which I did not want to do and was upfront about.
They contacted me to set up the install of the panels, inverter, and monitoring system. The work they did was great, they were clean, prompt and courteous. We had a challenge with a panel upgrade and things not managed correctly by one employee of REC. Andrew’s communication is poor to say the least.
Don’t let the action of one bad employee ruin the experience, I told myself. When I recommend REC to my friends, I just tell them that if Andrew is going to be their person dealing with the install ask for somebody else. EVERYBODY who I had to deal with from the installers to the electricians to the painter went well above my expectations.
The good thing is that it is backed by Costco. If you are interested in contacting me regarding my experience you can do so, I will even split the Costco card I get with you if you let me refer you! :)

To REC Solar:
We would like to thank everyone from the REC solar company for the service provided with our solar install. From the beginning your company representatives, Tawan Martinez, handled me in a most respectful and courteous manor. The sales people were honest and not pushy. The contract negotiation was straight forward and I was pleased that they were able to compete with the other estimates. One of the most important sales points for your company is your association with Costco, as this reinforced the fact that you are an established, upstanding company.
During the design phase, I was very particular about the details and had lists of questions. Drew Franke from the design team was very patient with me and assured me that he would design it to the exact specifications that we wanted.
Additionally, we experienced an unexpected family emergency further pushing back our install date. Again, Drew was very understanding and accommodating which was an enormous relief to not have to worry about juggling family and the solar install.
When the workers did arrive to start the job, I was very surprised and pleased at their professionalism, friendly attitude and demeanor. I have had numerous experiences where workers have an arrogance which I have found to be off-​putting and inappropriate. Joe, the head electrician/​foreman was very knowledgeable, very personable and great at answering my questions. It was a pleasure having them working on my house. I even felt completely comfortable leaving them with access to the house and my dogs even I wasn’t home. Thanks to Josh, Russell and Mike.
Solar systems are a huge investment. When designed and installed correctly, I am certain that the system will pay for itself in the future. I have been extremely happy with my relationship with REC solar. Even now that the install is complete, Drew continues to go out of his way to answer my seemingly endless questions and guide me through continuing to learn about solar energy and setting up the Enphase monitoring.
