I had an amazing experience with The Cakeover. I was planning a big 1920’s themed surprise 30th birthday party for my husband in the city, and 1 week before the party had realized I had forgotten about the cake! The Cakeover came to the rescue though with a stunning, and very tasty, themed cake. The price was a little higher than I expected, but totally worth it. We did the chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling, and included a delicate flower which was stunning! We got so many compliments and it was a centerpiece of the evening. I can’t wait to use this talented bakery again for future events!

The cupcakes here are amazing! With a strict diet it’s hard to find sweets that I can eat. This place is the best and very friendly. My favorites are the vanilla vanilla and the chocolate cake with vanilla icing.

As far as their products go I would give them an A+. Although there’s not a lot of products to buy. Show case is pretty empty .As far as their customer service and having a heart that you would expect from a small private bakery I would give them an F… They’re closed on Mondays and when you call they have a magicJack service that says leave a message. When you call on Tuesday they tell you that they don’t have any message system, I call that pretty unprofessional. When you tell them that you’ve run into a problem and you need a gluten-free cake for your son’s 25th birthday and you’re in a real jam, you would think that they would be able to somehow make you a simple cake, after all where are you going to get a gluten-free cake. So their a small town bakery with a big-time attitude because basically she made me understand that she didn’t give a damn. I know that I’m in business and I do put myself out to help my customers I guess you’re not going to get that there. I called at 9:30AM you would think by five or 6:00PM they be able to make you a simple cake, I guess not!

What a great bakery! We are so happy to find a gluten free bakery in the area. The owner was very knowledgable and super nice. My daughter who has celiac was so happy to have such a great selection of goodies. The cupcakes were delicious! Great flavors and so pretty. We also had the red velvet cake. Very very good… couldn’t tell it was gluten free! My daughter also loved the crumb cake. It was super moist. We went a little crazy in our first visit but the kids loved it. We will be back!

Myself, my boyfriend and his sister planned a big surprise 30th Anniversary party for his parents this past weekend. Up to 100 people! We’d been looking for the perfect picture of their wedding cake to recreate. Unfortunately we had no luck. After searching online we found a design that we all agreed their parents would love. There was no question who we wanted to create this unique cake. Michelle from the CakeOver masterfully created a birch tree cake, complete with the tree marking details, an engraving of their initials in a cute heart, and beautiful flowers in their wedding colors. The cake turned out incredible! We couldn’t have been happier! Everyone at the party couldn’t stop taking pictures of it and commenting on how«unique», «creative», «cute», etc., the cake was. And of course, their parents were super thrilled! I definitely recommend the CakeOver bakery if you’re looking for something that is done meticulously and artfully. I have known Michelle for a few years and have quickly become one her loyal costumers. I trust her work completely. There is no doubt in my mind that anyone would leave happy with their order. Michelle is awesome to work with — offering her creative opinion to help you really get the cake that you want in both look and taste. Next time you’re looking for a cake, please check out the CakeOver bakery — you won’t be disappointed!

We’re new to Morris County and were excited to find a gluten free bakery just 15 minutes from our home. During our first visit to the Cake Over we tried the red velvet, hot chocolate, pumpkin, and chocolate vanilla cupcakes as well as the brownie and everything was delicious. In fact, it was all so good that the next morning I took my son back so that we could get some for a party we were going to and it turned out the store hours on the website( ) were inaccurate and we took the drive for nothing. I decided to treat my son for breakfast since he seemed really bummed about them being closed and after we ate I surprised him by taking him back when they were open. We purchased a few more cupcakes only to find that they were at least a day or two old… not as moist and delicious as those we purchased the day before. For the price it would have been nice to have seen a fresh selection. Either way, it’s still nice to no we have a gluten free bakery near by.

Wow is all I can say! Went there today for the first time and I truly felt right at home. The staff is amazing!!! The fresh baked chocolate chip cookie I reluctantly shared with my non gluten free hubby was actually to die for. He hates gluten free food but loved it! That says a lot! This is truly the first gluten free bakery that I can say made me forget all about how yummy gluten used to be! The brownie was beyond words! Better than any brownie I’ve ever had!!! The coffee cake melted in my mouth. I couldn’t believe for the first tomes since being gluten free I was savoring baked goods! Not sure how they do it but I’m hooked and I will be a customer for life! Thank you cake over for making me feel normal again! Thank you for showing me gluten free doesn’t have to mean tasteless!!! Love you guys and I’ll see you soon!!!

cinnamon coffee cake– very moist and good flavors chocolate cookie– too crumbly. would’ve liked it chewy or crispier lemon drop cookie– would’ve like it to be more tart, but it had the perfect hint of sweetness. sampled expresso cupcake which had great flavor but lacked moisture(adding avocado or pumpkin purée might provide a nice twist :) the CHEESECAKE here is to die for! So creamy and rich(yet light enough and not overly sweet that I can probably eat a whole cake) . prices are very reasonable i appreciate the variety of unique cupcake flavors and other GF treats here(although wish it had mini versions of the tortes) and will be back to sample more. russian tea cake and carrot cake cupcakes are up next! owner is super friendly and such a sweetheart. you can see how passionate she is about the desserts. Worth visiting if you’re in the area.

One of the best reasonably-priced GF bakeries in the area. They have many items available as dairy free as well! The selection in the store is a little small, but I have loved everything I’ve tried so far(chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, banana split cupcakes, carrot cake, and pumpkin spice cupcakes!) They have unique cupcake flavors too — french toast, champagne, and dulce de leche that I have yet to try. None of the items I have tried thus far have left that«sandy» aftertaste that many other GF bakeries have. There are many other items you can get if you place an order — flourless tortes, cheesecakes, shortbread cookies, rugelach, etc. You just need to ask or pick up a menu at the store.

The most amazing Gluten & Dairy Free Coffee Cake EVER! Plus I really liked their scones/tea cakes too! Perfect place that I can see opening up a bunch of more bakeries in and around the city! I only wish they already had one in the city so I could include them on my Gluten Free Food Tours in the city!

meh!!! I SO wanted to love this GF bakery. The cookies were done well. The cupcakes left that«after taste«you dread with GF baked goods…(those of you REALGF sweet eaters know what I mean.) I tried… Maybe we’d go back for the Dolche de leche cookies… Other than that. We’ll pass.:(((

I stopped in to Cake Over on a whim, having driven passed it on my way home. I only discovered my gluten intolerance a few months ago, and being able to have rugelach(not to mention cupcakes!) is incredible! My favorite food growing up was my grandma’s rugelach, and the Cake Over rivals Bobi’s! Which is really saying something. And the low fat, gluten free red velvet cupcake tastes better than other bakery’s full fat, gluteny versions! The prices are standard bakery prices, nothing is overpriced to prey on those with food allergies. The owner is really sweet as well, and very careful to make sure customers know every allergen in the food. She has dairy free, nut free, and soy free options. She also gave me and two other people shopping samples of red velvet cake while we decided what to buy. After that taste, there was no way I was walking out of there without a red velvet cupcake! The chocolate chip cookies are fabulous, chewy and delicious, not too sweet and without that sandy aftertaste a lot of gluten free baked goods have. The snicker doodles are crumbly and yummy, with the best snicker doodle flavor I’ve ever tasted. My gluten-eating Mom had a chocolate cupcake for dessert tonight, and she loved it. So this bakery makes gluten free sweets just as good, or better, than the versions made with flour. Add to that a wonderful owner and scrupulously clean, neat storefront and you have a really wonderful bakery.

Having two celiacs in the home makes getting specialty treats difficult. The Cakeover makes dessert special for us again. We bought the dark chocolate birthday cake and served it to our non gluten free friends and everyone loved it. I came back to sample some cookies and pastries. The jelly filled linzer tarts were special and the rugelach were delicious as well. The owner is super personable, too!

Small bakery located on a main road in Lake Hiawatha that has a small display case of gluten-free eats. The selection isn’t very big at all, but they have your favorites covered(like red velvet). CakeOver is very inexpensive — the stuffed cupcakes I love so much(from elsewhere) are $ 3.75 and I saw the average price for these as $ 3 even. Pretty darn good pricing if you ask me, especially for gluten-free indulging!
