I have been shopping here for years and Never had a problem, I’ve never bought any lumber but most other items always a decent price, and I love the Kobalt cordless tools that they carry

Appliance delivery sucks. Never showed up. Waited home all day. Called several times. Never received a clear answer.

whoever is managing this place and training the staff here is phenomenal. or, perhaps, sometimes ya just get very lucky, with a really good employee. this review is based on the customer service we received from Tim. he was very helpful, even though he didn’t normally work in the particular department we were shopping in. he was very friendly and personable. he saw me walk past him and return with a shopping cart and put two and two together, that I probably had a bulky item, I needed help putting in my shopping cart. he was the first and only, of the other employees, to spring to action. he made us laugh and smile, so we just wanted to thank him, for brightening our day. we could all use as much brightening as possible… and the world, in particular, corporate America, could use more people like Tim :-)

It is no wonder that Lowe’s as a company is in the dumps. My most recent experience with Lowe’s in Lake in the Hills has left me with such a sour taste in my mouth, I will never set foot in their stores again. I recently went into the store to purchase a new refrigerator. I wanted a specific model that was on their floor display. After struggling to find an associate to help me, he told me that they only had one left in stock and it was damaged. He took me back into the stockroom and showed me the fridge and it obviously was damaged or used as it had a big dent in the door and the racks were missing. Definitely a no-go on this one. He did, however, tell me that the Lowe’s in St. Charles had the fridge I was looking for, so off we went to St. Charles. Lowe’s in St. Charles was able to sell me the fridge I wanted and a scheduled delivery the following day. Now we are getting some place! Or so I thought. The scheduled delivery time came and went. A few hours late, the truck shows up and the fridge was unceremoniously deposited into my garage. I was absolutely stunned to see that the fridge they dropped off was actually the damaged fridge from the Lake in the Hills store! The driver said that since it was Saturday, he would just leave it and that I should call the store to take care of it. Unfortunately, since I was without refrigeration, I needed a fridge, so I went out and purchased another from a competing retailer who was able to deliver a new one on Sunday. Pick up for the defective/damaged fridge was scheduled for the following Tuesday. The truck came and the delivery guys took possession of the wreck of a fridge they sold me. Now here’s where it gets interesting: Lowe’s wouldn’t issue me a refund! The St. Charles store(where I bought the fridge) said that it was the responsibility of the Lake in the Hills store to issue a credit. The Lake in the Hills store said they could not issue me a credit because the fridge was damaged! The Lake in the Hills store is the store that sent me the damaged fridge in the first place. I know it is confusing… are you keeping up with me here? In the end, I have had to dispute the charges with my credit card company who immediately took care of it. Bottom line here is that I will **NEVER** set foot in another Lowe’s store ever again for any reason. What should have been a routine refrigerator purchase and delivery ended up involving two different stores, a huge hassle, two lost days of work, many phone calls and crappy merchandise which I ended up having to dispute the purchase with my credit card company. What a colossal farce. It is no wonder Lowe’s stores are closing up left and right. The way that they handle their operation is an absolute abomination.

Staff seems more engaged lately. Limited selections continue. I was recently buying cardboard boxes and they had half the selection Home Depot has.

It’s pretty much the only hardware store in town. I moved out there 3 years ago and have done most of my shopping there. It’s a little hard to find stuff and the employees aren’t really that helpful. Their installers get there in a timely fashion when we had our refrigerator stove and dishwasher installed but their process is kinda nightmareish.

Okay, so I wasn’t really a fan of this Lowes. Again, for me, it’s all about the staff and the service. All of these places are laid out a little differently. It’s an occupational hazard. So… those of us who regularly shop at these stores usually come in the door ready to buy a certain something or set of somethings… we just need to find it in the system the staff should know. If I’m wandering agitatedly from row to row for 10 minutes like I’m looking for something, I expect to be approached. I saw employees, four or five of them, sure — talking amongst themselves in the distance, absolutely unwilling to engage the customers. Well, particularly… me. There really weren’t too many customers in the store at the time. Yeah, my pits stunk, but I looked like I was in the middle of a project… because I was! By the time I found what I was looking for and loaded up, they were all ready to engage — after I and the guy I was with made the first move. So the checkout process was a little bit of fun, but I sorta had to prime the pump. I find Lowes to be a little more expensive on some items than Home Depot, and reliably more expensive than Menards. This purchase was much the same. Will I seek out the Lake in the Hills Lowes again? Not unless I have to.

I live two blocks away from here and this is the only place I need to get things for my house. Usually, I get lost in here and end up with more than I needed. The employees are always helpful and friendly. This place is such a convenience!

If I could give negative stars, I would. These guys installed laminate in our home. Actually, within weeks of when Home Depot did their nightmare job on our house too(that review is the first Unilocal review I ever did). I’d have done this review sooner, but I can only handle remembering the horrors for so long. At any rate, their installers had problems with the laminate and a manager had to come out and tell them that this type was using a new technology so, yes it was supposed to look like that. Then they installed trim that looked just like the laminate. Which we had no idea they would do. It looked tacky. It was terrible. They agreed to replace it. But it took weeks. I had to keep on them for it. I had to be the one to stain it. And some of it was put in poorly. Additionally, they didn’t put down separators for the room. Whoever measured didn’t give them the correct info. It took them two months to finally get someone out here to do this. Again, this took me constantly riding them about it and finally threatening legal action. When they did put them down, they cut into the trim to do it. It looks tacky. All-in-all, they and Home Depot are never allowed near any home of ours again. Both situations were near identical. And to go from dealing with Home Depot and then Lowe’s a week or so later was just more than I could handle. Not when we had a new home and couldn’t unpack months later because these people kept dragging their butts getting their acts together. Just don’t let either of them do work on your house. When it comes to contractors, they go with the lowest bidder… and you get what you pay for. And those contractors only do exactly as they are told by the businesses, even if it means doing something the customer will probably hate. But it’s not just the contractors… the(dis)service from both businesses is an absolute nightmare. They’re disorganized, slow, and probably overworked and underpaid. When I can, I don’t even buy home products from either business anymore.
