Hickory Nut Gorge Visitors Center and Chamber of Commerce turned out to be a very fruitful stop during my visit to Lake Lure. The center provided tons of information on the surrounding attractions and history. For instance, did you know that Dirty Dancing, The Last of the Mohicans, and The Hunger Games were all filmed in North Carolina? If you check out this visitor center you’ll have the chance to hear all about it. They also were able to clarify when things opened or closed within the near area. If you’re in need of a little guidance during your travels or are just passing through, this is a great place to stop and get a little insight into Western North Carolina.
