The first time I met with him was to discuss my needing crowns, how long it might take, procedures, etc. At no time did he indicate that his office could not handle the extent of my dental work. He recommended 4 crowns at this time, 2 done at a time on one side of my mouth and then the other. My bottom teeth are very worn from grinding. At that time, they thought I might need a root canal so I was referred to an endodontist, with whom I had a root canal and then returned to Dr. Thompson after I was cleared to continue.
At the second appointment, Dr. Thompson needed to remove the cotton placed in my roots and place a permanent filling. The dental assistant was very nice and friendly. She told Dr. Thompson I was ready. He came in and did not acknowledge me at all and started working. When the procedure was over, he simply walked away. I asked to speak with him regarding how to move forward with my crowns. He returned and I asked him why we would not do one on each side at a time to keep my bite even as a previous dentist has recommended. He basically said that that is how they do it. The dental assistant explained to me why but I still wasn’t understanding how my bite would be even. At one point, I asked another question and Dr. Thompson told me in an annoyed manner that that is what the dental assistant just said. I didn’t know what else to say and was very surprised he wouldn’t want to explain a dental procedure to me until I got it. I said, «Okay,» and he left.
After that, I told his dental assistant that I found him rude, and she just kept talking and explaining things to me. My complaint has nothing to do with the office staff just that I feel his people skills are lacking. At that appointment, I was again not told that my dental needs were too great for their office and they made an appointment for the following Friday to start the crowns.
I received a letter stating the following from Dr. Thompson:
Due to the extent of your treatment needs, I feel you would be better served by another dentist. I will continue to provide you with emergency services only for the next 30 days.
Should you need the name of another qualified dentist I suggest you contact the referral service for your insurance.
We will forward copies of your dental records, upon your request, to another dental office.

I was appalled that I was sent a letter in lieu of a phone call and was not offered help in referrals. It is difficult because I am on a dental discount plan. I was very surprised because I am a licensed psychologist and if I need to refer for any reason, I provide clients with 1 – 3 referrals.
I also don’t understand why he would not have known that my dental work was too extensive for him and explained this to me.
I called them today and asked specifically why their office could not facilitate my needs? I wanted to know this so I could ask a new dentist this up front. I also asked for recommendations. I spoke with the front office staff who said that Dr. Thompson was not comfortable with doing that many crowns at this time. They recommended someone good at restorative cosmetics but were not able to provide me with any referrals. She then offered to take the bill off my account. I’m frustrated because I feel he is referring me out because I said he was rude and I’m deemed a «difficult patient.»

Dr Thompson was recommended to me by a friend, for his both his chair-​side manner and prices. He is such a nice dentist, and every one of his staff are wonderful, too! After going to a few overpriced dentists who bust the insurance «reasonable and customary» pricing, leaving me with a heftier bill than necessary, Dr T is an honest breath of fresh air! I have in turn referred a few friends, who have also really appreciated Dr T and all that comes with his practice. After having him do two crowns for me and working on my three children (who loved him), the only way I know how to truly say «thank you» is to keep referring him on!

I went in with a chipped tooth. Doctor Thompson gave me a choice to either get a composite (faster and cheaper) or a crown (more durable). Although he recommended the latter, I I chose the composite, and he was very happy to do the procedure. He and his assistant are very friendly, and he has a great sense of humor. The procedure only took about half an hour and was a lot less expensive than I was bracing myself for. My coworker said his prices are better than her dentist’s. I’d give them an A+ all around.

A good dentist for sure, however watch ‘em on the billing.
It really chapped me when I questioned a charge on my bill. I asked for an explanation of excessive/​questionable charge. They cheerfully said, «no problem, we’ll remove the charge from your account.»
So what’s that about? They are going to screw me unless I catch them?
Ethics?

I don’t really like going to the dentist, but if I have to go, this is the place. I stumbled across Dr. Thompson when I chipped a tooth right before the 4^th of July holiday when most dental offices were not answering, but as I went down my insurance’s list of dentists and hit this one, they were able to see me that afternoon (on the 3^rd).
I was immediately impressed with Dr. Thompson’s kind bedside manner and the idea that the shot didn’t hurt. I’d explained my needle phobia, and he made sure that I was good and numb before doing the shot. I barely felt it.
Due to an insurance coverage issue (my coverage was to have started but by error had not), I needed to have the numbers all broken out different ways for reimbursement, and Debbie was wonderful and took the time to sit down with me and provide the numbers all the ways I needed them.
Since I didn’t really have a regular dentist, I let them sign me up for a check up appointment, and I became even more impressed with Dr. Thompson’s approach to my care — he even gave me a Water Pik (worth about $ 30 or so) stating that with the procedures he would be doing that this was all a team effort to keep my teeth/​gums in good shape. Every time I’ve gone to see Dr. Thompson, it’s like they all remember who I am by name and even who I’ve referred to them and ask how that person is doing, too. It’s just such a nice feeling that everyone is so friendly and that Dr. Thompson truly cares and does try to make it as comfortable as he can (nitrous was my pal a couple of times).
For any question about what insurance will or will not cover, Debbie is the pro and clearly has tons of experience in dealing with the insurance companies. She either knows it or can find it, and even when my insurance wouldn’t cover something, she went out of her way to do what she could on their end to make the cost reasonable without me even asking when I just mentioned that insurance hadn’t covered something for some nitpicky reason.
So, all around, from «bedside» (chairside) to billing, Dr. Thompson’s office is wonderful. I never thought I’d like a dentist enough to want to do a review, but these folks are special.
