JJ Twig’s Pizza and BBQ

Our server was ok until it was time to check out. I gave her a $ 20 bill for my $ 17.58 check. I got $ 2 in return. WHERE IS MY $ 0.42? She gave the other people i was with extra money and stiffed me. WTF.

Great pizza. Great beer. Great happy hour prices. Excellent service! We got there during happy hour. Woohoo! A pizza with 4 toppings-10.00. And 2 for 1 drinks! Great bargain.

We go to Twigs every week for our date night. New menu is great. They have the best pizza, and their spinach salad is to die for. Our favorite part of the visit is the Bartender TIM. He is awesome. We actually switched our date night to align with when Tim works. He always makes us and everyone around us feel like family. We always sit in the non-​smoking bar and appreciate that Twigs has both a smoking and non-​smoking bar. The patrons are a lot of fun and love visiting with others. Tim also is great at getting conversations started. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Twigs.

Wonderful food, great atmosphere and top of the line service from STEVE! He spent 10 minutes to find a game on TV that we requested and went out of his way to please his customers. Wonderful place to visit while on vacation!

The food was quite terrible. I had the Italian beef which is a signature dish. It was dry and flavorless. The fries were undercooked and appeared to have been reheated. You husband had the brisket which also lacked Flavor. The server was great though. The only positive thing about our visit. Such a disappointment.

Hey, this is a great place that builds relationships with the patrons. Good food and fun atmosphere, but the real plus is the people. Check out Olivia and Amy or even Georgiana. They make your time there fun, relaxing and tend to all you need. My vote at the lake for the absolute best pizza. And don’t forget Nate… he’s a real hard worker and crowd pleaser.

Fresh hot buffet at a good price. didn’t expect the fresh made from scratch food. Fast friendly service. Highly recommend!

I guess I should have double-​checked Unilocal before we chose JJ Twig’s for dinner. I had been here once before on the pub crawl. We had a great time and the atmosphere is pretty cool– like a big lodge almost. Also on the plus side, our server was tremendous and they have Moose Drool on draft.
For dinner, we had a custom pizza with pepperoni, onion, mushroom and peppericinis. The toppings were all fresh and everything, but the crust was exactly like Jack’s frozen pizza, so the overall effect was basically about the same. Meh sums it up nicely. It’s kind of funny, because our server said it’s what they’re known for.
For an appetizer, we tried boneless wings. They were obviously frozen and something we could have made at home.
My daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich with fries. Again, the sandwich tasted like what we would make at home. The fries were very good, though.
I give the place an extra half-​star for the ambience and great service, otherwise it would have been an easy 2-​star experience.

Terrible food and poor service — mostly due to kitchen. Waited a very long time for appetizers, traditional wings had little to no sauce, cheese sticks were good. Dinner came on the heels of the appetizers and was cold. Cheese on my sandwich would not even melt. I told my waitress my food was cold she took it back and apparently the kitchen just put my sweet potato fries back in the fryer since they came back kind of warm and now charred black. Grilled chicken sandwich was tiny and small pieces of bacon all fat. My daughters fries were greasy and cold. Will not come back.

This pizza is ok but the atmosphere is nice, online trivia played at the bar on Tuesdays, all in all nice place, peanuts served all day!

We ate lunch here and we really weren’t impressed. The buffalo chicken wrap was so spicy it was hard to eat. The lettuce used in the wrap was also mushy & gross! The pork tenderloin was super dry. The place was really dark which was weird since it was lunchtime. As we looked around, we realized it was kept dark so you couldn’t see how dirty the place was! They need to shut down for a few days and deep clean everything… Especially all the dusty animals hanging on the walls. Don’t waste your time coming here…

We arrived at 9:45 pm during the LOTO Shootout weekend. We were informed that they were only serving pizza at that time, no salads, no apps, nothing else could be made. We were then informed that at 10:00, they would stop serving everything. This place is located right on the main drag, steps from the street party that was being held that night, seems like a major wasted opportunity to not be fully open. We ordered pizzas, they were fine, and we ate and left. I would not recommend this place, with so many good options around.

Lunch buffet is awful. We were there at opening and the food appeared to be two days old. Mushy cucumbers, yellowed lettuce, brown corn and pizza that resembled what my kids get at their school cafeteria. Don’t waste your time or money.

Stopped in here while down on vacation. The views were great and so was the food. Our waitress was the only one working so service was a touch slow but she did great for it being just her. We’ll be back for sure!

Here’s the problem.
The turn around time to get food here is a major problem that needs to addressed by a compitant kitchen manager! The wait times for food is rediculous on a Friday and Saturday topping more than two hours AFTER ORDERING! Sitting there waiting, looking around at other people who are waiting (and just as irked!)shows what a terrible situation they have on there hands. Good thing the quick service of the bar is keeping us from walking out! The wait staff offered no damage control just saying that they didn’t know anything. WOW! Seriously?
Never coming back here again unless you want just beer and peanuts.

Decided to try the lunch buffet. Mistake. Average at best. We were seated promptly. The waitress upon taking our drink orders told us the buffet highlights were BBQ, fried chicken, and pasta.
We order the buffet. Salad items were the usual. There was no pasta, and 2 pieces of what appeared to be broiled chicken, definitely not fried. The bbq ribs were tasteless but were bbq’ed.
Upon going up to the buffet again there was no chicken at all however now there was a hot pasta dish.
I tried the pasta but couldn’t put a finger on what type pasta it was. I asked the waitress what was the pasta. She had no idea and never tried to find out. I saw someone at another table who has got the pasta and ask them if they knew what it was. They didn’t.
Unfortunately last year the food was delicious and the service was great but both have really fallen off.
A JJ Twigs opened in st. Louis recently and the food and service there are fantastic.
We’ll just wait to we return to Saint Louis to eat at JJ Twigs again.

I don’t normally write reviews but JJ Twigs deserves one after what happened last night. We ordered pizza at 7:00pm. We waited an hour and it still haven’t came so we called and they claimed it was on its way. Well, we waited another hour and it still hadn’t came so we called again, and this time they didn’t even answer which made us very aggravated. Another 30 minutes passed and we considered just going to eat somewhere else (because at this point we were starving) when we heard a knock on the door. It was the pizza, finally. The delivery driver was not friendly at all, all she said was «$ 39.56» and «Do you want any change?» No «sorry for the long wait» or anything else. She should be fired for all I care. Then we ate the pizza, and it was horrible. Completely cold and hard, like it had been sitting for a couple of hours. I will never order from here again.
All in all, we waited 2.5 hours just to receive some overpriced cold nasty pizza. If I could give zero stars instead of one, I certainly would.

The service was terrible!!! We were told that a party of 50 had their orders in before us. However, we came well before that group arrived. Then we noticed that other tables were also waiting as well. Faces of sadness and despair filled out side of the restaurant. Then we had to send out smoke signals in order to ask for refills. They tried to take our plates even before we were completely done. The waitress didn’t even offer us any type of consolation! A free order of twigs would’ve even sufficed.
Enough about the crap service, the food was reminiscent of gas station cuisine mixed with dorm food struggle. The McDonalds down the street would’ve gotten higher ratings from me. Don’t eat here!

Came here on a Thursday night for a drink while visiting the area. I had no idea places still allowed smoking inside. It was very smokey! Which, I get it, it’s a bar. Still came as surprise is all. There were peanuts everywhere. And I mean like peanut shells everywhere. Like I was at a baseball game. The group was a little «older», 45 – 65 years old, which honestly is more my style usually. Although these were dancing, smoking, flirty 45 – 65 year olds. Definitely some good people watching happening! Lol. I did what anyone would do at this kind of bar and ordered a merlot. Hey, I don’t like beer. So sue me. Meh. Not very good. I drank about half before I couldn’t do any more.
Can’t say anything about the food. Didn’t eat there.
Waitress/​bartender was nice enough.
Bathrooms were clean! Definitely the high point.
Not really my kind of place, but if I WAS going to somewhere that wasn’t my type of place, this wouldn’t be the one I pick.

The place looks really cool and I love the peanuts on the floor. I’m familiar with the concept cause it is a copy of Nicks pizza in Elgin IL. The owners of both locations are friends. As much as I love pizza, this is not the place I go when I want to eat pizza. I’m from the Chicago area and I know good pizza!!! They need to change their style of pizza!!!
