Catfish Johnny’s is definitely one you want to throw back!!! The food was average and the service was less then average… Staff seemed like they could care less if we were there… Plus side is what it was really cheap!

This place is OK, not great. It’s a typical fried seafood restaurant. We went around 7pm on a Friday and hit the big Friday night exodus. Huge line of people waiting to pay at the register. Waitresses don’t take the money. Service was good, food was fine. I would eat there again, but not go out of my way. I like eating at local, non franchised restaurants. Next time we’ll hit outback.

We were visiting from out of town and were so fortunate to have stumbled on this restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, the service was outstanding, the food amazing, plentiful, and cheap, and the drinks cold. I look forward to going back next time I’m in that area of the world.

Well, it seems that most of the places I go lately are rated four or five stars. Probably because I am looking on Unilocal for four or five star ratings before going some place. Catfish Johnny’s rates five stars with me. Gator bites, fries, buffalo chicken salad(my husband’s but I tried it too) and glass of sweet tea big enough that I didn’t need constant refills. Waitress was very friendly and seemed perfectly ok with the fact that we sat at the farthest point out on the deck so we could be in the sun. If ever back in the area, we’ll definitely eat here again.

The food here is unbelievable! There is fried food and then there is Catfish Johnny’s fried food. Very light batter. Everything lightly fried to perfection. Nothing was over done. Catfish nuggets(they were out of whole catfish), perch fillets, shrimp and okra. This is the best fried food we have ever had at a restaurant. Service was great. Store was very clean. We will be back.

My mom and dad go here at least once every other week. They love it, we think it’s okay, it’s fried food, what do you expect?

Great service, great food. The frog legs were AMAZING as were the catfish nuggets. I’d love to see raw oysters on the menu, though. This was nothing fancy hands down great place. Get the corn fritters instead of hush puppies.

This is a great place in what appears to be off the beaten path. The service was excellent and the servers are very friendly. The good was good. We all had the catfish fingers and fries. I had never had catfish before and must admit was a little nervous to try it but was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The tarter sauce is homemade and excellent. We also had some soft serve ice cream which was not that great. It is a great place to try after an airboat ride.

I’m a burned out old fart and I’ve eaten on a few continents. Never, in all my years eating, have I found a better restaurant and eaten better food. My wife is a VERY picky eater and agrees; she always cleans her plate. Doesn’t do that at home, even when I cook. I have this involuntary thing when I eat real good food, my left eye tears up. When I eat here, I actually cry as the food is so good. Great staff, great atmosphere, great food and the customers they attract are first rate! I’d drive 100 miles to eat here; glad I don’t have to!

It all started with«what you want for dinner?» then someone said catfish and next thing I know were on our way out here. This place is cool. Not sure what it started out as, possibly a home that was converted into a restaurant and other rooms added to accommodate the crowds that showed up for the fantastic grub. Nothing fancy here kinda what you expect this far out of the way. Stuffed fish and animal mounts along with pictures of local catches and news articles adorn the walls. Very down home feel. The menu is loaded with a good variety of foods including local yummies such as frog legs and gator. I will have to come back and try these but I came here for the catfish I was not disappointed. I ordered the whole fried catfish and the others in my party ordered the catfish fingers. My plate came out with three whole fish fried to perfection. Deliciously seasoned and perfectly battered. No heavy bread batter here. This was some of the best catfish I have had in a long time. The rest of my party was equally impressed with their catfish fingers. Also worth mentioning are the hush puppies, corn fritters and coleslaw. All was so good I cleaned my plate even knowing that I would suffer from overeating pains. It was worth it but did not have any room to try the desserts. Bummer, just have to come back. I will come back and try many other menu items. I do believe they will also be very good. Looking forward to trying the frog legs and gator. Definitely worth a visit if your looking for some deep fried goodness and much much more. Until next time, Cheers

Good local joint, went with the fish basket and although price was right, one piece of fish just doesn’t cut it. Hush puppies were very good and even enjoyed the slaw. The local feel was very cool and would definitely stop in again when I’m in the area.

We stopped for lunch after an air boat ride. I’m giving 4 stars because they were out of whole catfish & gator. We were hoping to try the gator! There was 5 in our party and we each ordered a basket — beer battered shrimp, catfish fingers and perch. All were delicious. The hush puppies were awesome and you could tell they were homemade. Friendly service too. I’d recommend this place!

Great place for real Southern fried food. The got the Cracker Platter, which is Froglegs, Alligator tail and Catfish bites all deep fried in goodness. Then you got some corn and hush puppies :). Great place to eat, good prices.

This place is pretty fantastic. Is it out of the way? Yes. Do you get mean-mugged by locals? Yes. Is the fried food amazing? Hell Yes. It’s the quintessential Central Floridian fried food joint(Yes, Alligator is on the menu)… and I sorta love it.
