I was in the downtown area waiting for my train and decided to stop in for some breakfast. The prices here are very reasonable($ 5.75 for a 3 egg veggie omelet) and the food is great. It appeared to be a husband and wife team that own and run the diner. They were super friendly and appear to have a ton of regulars. While I was there people would come in, sit down, and without ordering have their coffee and meal brought out to them. They also knew most of the customers by name.

Dee Dees downtown diner is a great value for a lunch spot. The atmosphere isn’t the greatest but when you can get a cheeseburger, fries and a drink for $ 5 and it’s actually good, who cares! Waitress is friendly and the cook knows how to cook. I’ve also had the philly cheese steak special which is more like a steak and cheese melt with some onions on it but again so cheap and it was good. My fiancé got the turkey rueben, also good. He also tried the soup and it tastes homemade, it was a potato and bean and ham I think?.. My coworker goes for breakfast some mornings with her man and they like that too. If you want a good food at a great price, give it a try!

Now named Dee Dee, s Downtown Diner is our favorite breakfast spot in Lakeland. This small(only seats about 20) diner is always friendly. I had the perfectly cooked ham and cheese omlet with choice of potatoes or grits and toast for $ 6.25. Dee dee is always there filling our coffee. A great place, no frills to meet friends for a good meal and time to chat

This place rocks!!! It is a mom and pop establishment with a friendly staff and great food. They serve traditional breakfast and lunch and feature daily specials as well. You have to try their potato bacon soup!!! Simply to die for.

Try the fried chicken. Amazing! The collard greens were very salty, but tasty. The item that I thought was the gravy, or «dressing,» as some may call it, had beans in it, so I’m not sure if it was actually supposed to go on the chicken, but it tasted greated smothered on the hot, fresh, crunchy, AND juicy chicken. Downtown Diner offers a lunch buffet that includes the fried chicken. It was about $ 5 or $ 6 per person, all you care to eat. Very friendly service. Definitely a family-run-and-owned business. Great!
