Denny’s

I’m giving a one star tonight for poor service. I tried to call in a small order. No one answered the phone. When I walked in to order to go it took the server 15mins to take my order. Right before that I tried to call while I stood there. 5 waitress and waiters walk right by the phone and did nothing. If my Son whom just had surgery did not insist on his favorite Chocolate Pancakes I would have left. I have fortunately not been coming to this Denny’s that long and now I think I will continue to go the the one in Point Loma they would NEVER pull this.

this place is a hit and miss. i have had great service and great tasting food and other times i wish i went somewhere else. i have had cold food sent to the table, cardboard toast, lack of refills. the last time i went my server didnt come and check on me i had to send my son to get napkins. i had 2 kids ages 2 and 6 and we had 3 napkins (the ones with the silverwear).

Hey, ok it’s a Dennys, right? Not some fancy restaurant or fine dining place. But, about 12 years ago, it became a tradition to go here with the kids n G-​kids on their way home after our eldest son’s kids school Christmas and other programs. It’s a place we know we will be able to get a table for all of us and more sometimes and there’s plenty of selection to satisfy our appetites for breakfast lunch or dinner items. And it’s do-​able, when ur on a budget!
Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner sometimes? I am usually a sucker for French toast n eggs, but the last 2 times we came (we have 5 G-​kids, …so far!) I found myself ordering the prime rib cobb salad. Yes, it’s actually really good! And the meat so tender and full of flavor. Not what I expected from a Dennys. That’s why I ordered it a second time. It hit the spot for me. Ok well, I also ordered some fries, too! Great idea, because it’s a big portion and this family has hands that wander towards a plate of warm tasty fries! There’s plenty to share and just enough for me. Looks like the healthy dinner choices are pretty good with options like various fish and salad plates. Nice to know for a diner.
Well, besides the menu, we were well taken care of and even got a great discount on our ticket. It was kids eat free Tuesday and there was an online coupon. (But we just added more for the tip!) The manager was cool. That’s the way to treat longtime patrons. Thanks Dennys! Here’s to many more years to go…

This Denny’s really needs help in greeting and seating their customers. We stood waiting near the counter to be acknowledged and seated. Three people at the front desk. Only one occupied taking a phone order. We finally had to sit on a bench, still waiting while two employees talked. Then two more people came in. Younger so they stayed standing then two more people. Six of us, three sitting three standing. Finally a woman behind the counter picks up menus turns to the two younger standing people and asks them to follow her. My husband spoke up about her ignoring us, but she truly looked like she couldn’t figure out what was wrong.
We decided to leave. Eating at a much friendlier and on top of seating you at IHOP.

Horrible!!! food was cold and the portions were as if i was ordering from children’s menu…

I came here because I have received Excellent service in the past. It is a nice and quiet area and a very clean facility. I sat down with one waiter, another waiter came on and asked if I wanted a drink. A coke I said, I received my coke. 15 to 20 min later she came around and then took our order. I don’t like that. There was one other table occupied so I was a little confused as to what was going on and why it took awhile. When I went to pay I was asked how my service was and I said terrible I waited 15 to 20 min after getting drinks to order and I didn’t feel checked in on. That girl was sweet and asked if I wanted a manager. I said I don’t think there’s much they could do besides talk to that employee. Immediately after the manager came up and inquired with what happened I told her the same thing. She addressed my concern promptly and adequately and her timeliness in dealing with the concern was phenomenal. That manager had Excellent service, she was prompt, timely, professional, and I really appreciated her kindness. Problem solved.

The only reason I’m giving two stars is that they knocked a little off the bill.
We came for a late breakfast on Saturday and were seated immediately. Our server was nice and brought waters promptly, so we figured we were off to a good start. Unfortunately, the food was ALL WAY, WAY overcooked. Pancakes were tough, toast was dry and hard, chicken fried steak was like shoe leather! The only thing right were my eggs! My husband was given the wrong eggs (he ordered scrambled and got over easy) and we waited literally over 10 minutes for the correct eggs. We were finished with our entire meal and were still waiting for those damn eggs! Then, we waited so long for our check that I finally just got up and asked for it.
The cashier asked how everything was and since we were finished (no worry of anyone spitting in our food), I was honest and told her that everything was overcooked and tough. She took a little of the bill (15%?) without me asking, so points for that. But still, it will probably be another year before we return.

I would give 0 stars but it is what it is. Worst place I’ve ever been to. Worst greeter as if she was unhappy. Sit down and waited about 10 minutes to get some drinks started! Another 5 or 8 minutes and still no drinks and no menus. Please don’t waste your time at this Denny’s. WE LEFT and the drinks never came to our table. 7 – 11 would of been faster…

This is the second time I ordered the cheese burger here and is the second time I got old rotten vegetables. I don’t know why they can’t seem to serve their guests fresh vegtables. But if you like eat old rotten vegtables then this is the place for you.

Our waitress was good in the beginning but once we got our food she never came back. We never got our drinks refilled or our check from her. We waited around & I finally asked another waitress for our check & she brought it out. When I paid, the hostess said not to come on a Sunday because this was common. I don’t think we’ll ever take a chance & come back anyway. Awful service.

Well I suppose service is Not important at this Denny’s. I was served my drink quickly. However it was never refilled. I sit through my whole meal without any drink. The pancake puppys were burnt the red potatoes were under cooked. Hey on a positive note… the toast was good. The altamate omelet well it should be called mushroom omelet. Overall this is the 3^rd bad dining experience at different time of the day. Time to find a different place to eat.

I went to breakfast to day and they screwed up the entire meal and all they had was a fucking smirk on there face if I could give them no stars I would I will never eat at a Denny’s again

We were seated promptly, which was really nice and then sat for 10 minutes before someone finally took our order. This should have been our queue… along with the smell of rotten water in the air. Coffee came out 5 minutes after ordering, unevenly poured in mugs that had dried coffee spill marks all over them. I wanted to ask the waitress if she wanted a second chance, but restrained because I think at this point we are fully vested. At the 40 minute mark our food arrives in about half the portions that we would have expected and missing items. We dive in only to experience total disappointment. My avocado was brown and the eggs tasted like they were not kept well, or had expired weeks ago ruining my entire dish once the yolk broke. The 7-​grain toast was about the best thing on our table. Horrible wait times for food that will immediately make you sick… NEVER AGAIN.

The staff here is always so rude. The food is good if you get the right cook. The cooks all do it differently so the country gravy may be too floury and the eggs over done but managment usually takes care of it. Hey theyre open 24 hrs and the food is good so stop in at 2am and have some season fries

Denny’s is great for cheap breakfast for a bunch of kids. It’s not fancy, but it’s edible. The service today was OK, but we did have to wait a while to get our check.
This Denny’s has a newly renovated feel. Wooden floors, nice décor, new menus. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The only thing I think could use some improvement is the uniforms. There was one cashier/​host wearing a hoodie over his apron. But that’s coming from my strict background in guest service ;)

We didn’t receive very good service tonight so we will not be back to this location and I wouldn’t recommend it. Never received a refill on my drink. Clearly their kitchen lacked staff because we received our sons meal, and our meals, and our appetizer all at the same time. I also had our ketchup bottle refilled and when I used it a gnat came out of it. Just disgusting. Again, we will not be back.

I really enjoy the healthy choices on the menu, they taste fresh and very filling.
The service was average.
I never was a fan of Dennys but I do like the fresh, healthy meal choices.

I go here all of the time. The food, I must say, is always good. I’ve never had food that was sub par here.
The biggest problem that I have with this location is the actual service. The waitresses/​waiters are never attentive. The other night we literally stood for 15 minutes waiting to be seated with NO ONE even acknowledging that we were there– not even the managers. There were tables open too. After a while, the bust boy felt sorry for us and came and seated us himself. The waitresses forget about you and NEVER seem to refill your glasses, or check in with you. I always have to signal for them after waiting forever to get help.
The location is very convenient, as it’s right off the 8. If you don’t care about terrible service, the food is great. Definitely skip Tuesday and Saturday’s though… family night is crazy there.
