Ace Hardware

I do not like this terrible store, and in particular the owner manager Jim is a rude, arrogant jerk. Also the checkers are rude and try to constantly pressure you to join Ace rewards. It is an awful place, the prices are high and the selection low.
This is based on several visits, and I will never shop here again.
Finally, I am adding to my review to address the comment posted by Jim. While he states data claims for JD Power that are are high ranking, the experience of actual community members, including the Unilocal community, is very poor. Who cares what JD Power, another large corporation thinks? Of course they give great ratings, just like to automobiles that have poor reliability in reality.
Also, in comparison with other Ace stores, Jim’s store is the worst. Some Ace stores do seem ok. Frankly, I think Jim’s store is a reflection of the owner, Jim himself. I would like to see a new owner, a new management team, and new employees. You cannot change a business unless the leadership is completed changed.
If this were a McDonald’s or other well-​controlled franchise, the parent company would force the owner/​manager Jim out, and replace him and his team because that is how it works. Ace is different, and therefore has a large variance in quality between stores.
I stand by my review, and it is interesting to note how similar are my negative comments about Jim the owner/​manager, and the store as to other reviews on this site. While I have not used profanity as have some other reviewers, this should not in anyway take away from the fact I am very serious.
In my opinion, you are much better off just going to Home Depot rather than putting up with this jerk and his terrible store.

I am pretty much in the same boat as Danille S. They already know mean did the week I moved to Lakewood. the staff is really helpful, attentive and nice. They have most everything you need there and the rewards are good as well.

The manager to this store is an inconsiderate asshole. I will never go there again. Whoever they have in thei paint dept sells me the wrong paint that I specifically asked for. Saying this is on sale it’s the same thing. 2 walls later we have 2 different colors in the damn room.
Go to my local ace to get the right stuff and fix the problem. Their solution is for my pregnant ass to drive 45 minutes with my 2 year to get my $ 18 back on a can of paint. They refuse to credit the other store or refund my card over the phone. I understand they’re in dependably owned but come on. Do what’s right
If it was not 45 minutes away you better believe I’d drive back and dump this shit all over their paint counter just for my own satisfaction.

Usually customer service isn’t an issue here. Today it was and it cost them a sale of appx $ 140 after tax. Lorene was pretty rude and that immediately made my decision to go to a different retailer to get what I needed. No hard feelings I love the items ACE carries just not today.

The owner, Jim Hassig, who is always in the store, is rude, condescending, unprofessional and just a plain jerk. I usually avoid him at all costs due to previous interactions thinking he was just an ungrateful employee who lacked basic customer service skills. Today I found out he was the OWNER! He had incorrectly priced potting soil, advertised on his FRONT WINDOW with the bags below the sign and refused to honor the price. He lost a good customer today, and by his attitude, could care less. Jim Hassig, I believe in supporting local business but will never step foot in your store again. You can remove me from your mailings and rewards program. You’ll never see another dime from me.

Always friendly, especially when it’s painfully obvious I don’t know the first thing about home repairs.

This ace hardware is down right fantastic ! JIM the manager is the reason I go to ace instead of using my home depot credit card. He and his co-​workers are very helpful without being over bearing and pushing u towards stuff u don’t need .I purchased a pricey weber charcoal grill and cover today and the service I received was just outstanding !!! Thank you JIM !

I think this is the best Ace I’ve ever shopped at. You are greeted as soon as you walk in and I’ve always been asked what I am looking for. The associate then takes me to the product and makes certain I have what I need before leaving. Now that is customer service. They may not have as much as Lowe’s or Home Despot, but Ace is great for most maintenance products, tools, yard needs, and other quick fixes. We’ve spent a lot of money here as we repair our home and I think this is a great store worth the drive. Oh, and parking is never an issue. Don’t be dissuaded by the old lot or run down appearance of the surrounding stores. It’s an old shopping center but Ace has heart.

This place knows me already, and I’ve only lived here about a month (but I’ve been in just about every week).
The staff is friendly, welcoming, very helpful, and knowledgeable.
The selection is great, and they’ve had everything I’ve needed, from dryer vents, to screws, to paint samples, to sprinkler systems, to keys, etc.
Plus, they have some yummy popcorn to eat while you walk around.
Ace is the place! :)

I wasn’t hounded like at bigger stores. An older Gentelman assisted me in looking up an item I needed, and gave suggestions of other places that will carry what I’m looking for as they didn’t carry the part in stock. No pressure and people that really know what they are doing! I will be back for my hardware needs with service like this.

I love this Ace Hardware. I don’t live out this way but have family that does so I’ve stopped here when I needed to pick up some things to help out my dad. The folks that work here are very knowledgeable and helped me find parts for a bunch of broken sprinkler equipment.
Much better than going to one of the chain superstores where the people there don’t really care.
