I wanted to love this place, I really really did. I love my Korean soups, and this place just did not work for me. My soup had too much fish sauce in it, so it did not smell that great. The service was awful for the most part. My other half and I kept getting looked over. I had to get up multiple times to ask the waitress for water. It was just a mess. Nah, I probably will not go back. There are a lot more places like this to try out.

I’ve been here twice and service was bad. The second time was one of the worst services I’ve ever had! We were sat down and weren’t given any side dishes with rice until 20 minutes later… Other Korean families got their food before us and we came in before them!!! Ridiculous… When they put down the dishes they weren’t very nice about it either. Kind of loud and rudely did it. Then later I asked for some more water… She forgot about it.

I had a terrific dinner with my family! The food was hot and delicious, the side dishes were great and they brought it more when we ate it all up! The short ribs were savory and the BBQ pork was spicy and the soup was outstanding! The only downside was that the wait was longer than usual because it was really busy

This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants. I have been here several times. However the last time I went here I found little whites unknown pieces in my glass of water. It’s gross.

The food is amazing! Love the soondubu and the kalbi ribs!!! The side dishes are delicious and so is the fried fish. I am always happy with the service, the girls are quick to refill side dishes and tea.

Good food absolutely TERRIBLE service. Waitress rude and wasn’t even busy. Seem to be extra attentive to the other family’s next to us(Mostly Korean I might add). However uncertain if this is siginificant or they are rude to everyone, but impression I have is the latter. Sad the service sucks, guess I’ll just get to go. Gets 4stars for food but really the rude service made it a terrible experience.

I thought Phở was the almighty hangover, sickness, depression cure… No, tofu soup is. Same price point too. For ~$ 13.00(including) tip, you’ll walk out one happy camper. I’ve been getting the same order every time for the last couple years I’ve been coming here – beef tofu soup with medium spice.

I have been to plenty of Korean restaurants and this restaurant was terrible. We were stared at upon entering and were seated after 5 minutes. It was pretty full, but most families were already leaving. Usually after you order, the staff will bring out small side dishes with water. We waited prob like 10 minutes and nothing. Another family(they were Korean might I add) was seated next to us and started getting their sides and drinks right away. After the waitress noticed us staring at the other table, we finally got out sides and one bowl. The sides were basically just dropped at the table and that was it. No rice. We waited another 5 minutes and nothing. The table next to us was getting their food and everything before us. We finally got our mushroom tofu soup and rice together but No meat. The soup was pretty plain and nothing out of the ordinary, plus it wasn’t spicy when We asked for medium spice. We waited again. We were practically done with our soup, rice and sides by the time our beef arrived. Not only was it rudely put on our table with a quick drop and slide. The waitress even gave us a dirty look and just left, even when we said thank you. Luckily, their meat was pretty good but it was a pretty small portion for what you pay for. We had to wait another 5 minutes to pay for our meal at the front of the store. No thank you, no have a good day, nothing. I understand if you’re busy things slip, but what a disappointment. It was a waste of an hour. Customer Service was beyond terrible, the quality of food was nothing amazing, and the fact that everything was basically a waiting game and we had to endure dirty looks the entire time is ridiculous. We are never coming back but hope that the restaurant will learn some thing from our review.

I love their soft tofu stew – get it spicy and choose your protein! I normally go with pork or fish roe. I always feel like I get my money’s worth with Korean restaurants because of all the side dishes that are included. At Cho Dang, they also include a fried fish for each stew ordered. I highly recommend this place for all aspects: food, service, and price.

Wait 30 min get side dishes, then wait another 15 get my tofu, one of the waitress’ attitude is so terrible, really make me frustrated. And taste is just normal tofu soup, compare with LA here is worst tofu restaurant I have never been

Yummy! The menu was a little difficult to understand(the combos) bit the waitress for very friendly and helpful and explained it. We got a bulgogi combo with soup and rice plus bibimbap. It was delicious and very good ban chan. I will definitely go back!

New to the area and wanted some take out. I lived in Korea for a one year and loved the food. My favorite dish bi bim bop was not available for take out due to the fact it’s served in a hot stone dish, so that was understandable. I loved the fact that a big majority of the people eating there were Korean themselves. That was a great sign. I ordered bulgogi, and I never order that. I am usually way more adventurous but I decided to give it a try. Just like I imagined, it was delicious. All versions of kim chi were good too. Great Korean restaurant,!!!

Amazing food! I had the buddae chigae, my wife had the dolsot bibimbop, daughter had mandu sundubu chigae, and my son the kalbi. All were very satisfied! The panchan was very tasty and plentiful. Before the meal was over we were discussing when we would be back!

The variety of tofu soup is what keeps me and my Thai GF coming back here. The side of deep fried fish goes well with the complimentary sides. I love the service too. Great environment.

It’s a great place to eat spicy tofu pot and BBQ. Korean food is healthy and spicy. Each menus come with 6 small dishes for complimentary. It’s fun to try Korean food in here.

Really enjoy the dolsot bibim bap. The rice was crispy and they were generous w/the mushroom. It should have boiled ferns but that might raise the price. I do like their ban chan. Its not like Hoosoon Yi but its good. If it wasnt so overpriced I would bump it another star In all fairness, I do come here alot. Either South Tacoma location or the Kent location.

I have been here several times with friends. Most of the time the food was good even though it wasn’t to my taste. Service is hit and miss… Sometimes the waitresses can seem rude and in a hurry(understandable). I have had decent experience at this restaurant until I tried their Squid Stone pot bibimbap… The squids were gone bad and tasted sour. I thought that was how it was but later I got to find out from my buddies they don’t usually taste sour and rancid. I didn’t tell the owner though. I won’t be coming back, and don’t recommend others for their often miserable services.

Their Kim chi beef soup is all I get here, extra spicy! Haven’t tried anything else but I come here twice a month and have since replaced another Korean restaurant with this one. Didn’t think I would be able to tell the difference between the tofu but I can now see why they are known for tofu! Oh yeah hot tea in sizzling pot. && fried bottom feeder

This is my favorite go to kimchi tofu soup spot! I used to always order the kimchi tofu with beef, but I have adventured to also enjoying it with the pork. Add an egg for more flavor! The soup, the sides, the rice, & mini fried fish are always on point and I can always expect consistency when coming to this restaurant. I LOVE spicy food, but if you want to be able to taste the soup flavor, I recommend going with spicy vs very spicy. ;) don’t forget to ask for the hot tea to your stone bowl for the crispy rice at the bottom too! I think the service is definitely on par! I don’t think they serve with favoritism to only Koreans as some other reviews had mentioned, since I am not Korean and I get great service every time I come here. I find the workers friendly and keep your side refilled to your liking! Overall, I love this place and I will continue to come back to curb my cucumber kimchi cravings.
