Ordered the playboy roll, got a free side salad, miso soup and reg roll with it. Everything was really good. Service was fast and friendly. A little out of the way for me but it was well worth the drive. I would definitely recommend giving them a try if you are in the area!

Sushi was good! Can’t go wrong with the prices. I believe it is now $ 10.99 for a special roll and then you get a regular roll for free + miso soup & salad. I recommend the Washington Roll if you’re okay with unagi. Also, the ichi roll! They were huge rolls! The salad wasn’t too good for me. I’m not a big fan of the dressing they used. It’s like a hole in a wall. Don’t expect fancy tables and glass plates.

Had the food in Paldo Market’s food court. We tried this place for the sushi and the one next to them for the soup. I ordered the baked salmon roll which was delicious. I was hoping it as seared and raw, but it’s mostly cooked. It was tasty, though. It came with a free roll option. I chose california roll, but there were other options like spicy tuna roll etc. It came with a tasty salad and miso soup. All that for less than $ 13! That was good for the wallet.

This place would have gotten a 5 out of 5 if it wasn’t such a dive. However the food is awesome! And has great prices compared to other places. It’s a little hard to find because it’s in the Asian market in the food court. If you’re looking for a hole in the wall, this is the place! I will totally come back.

I love Sushi Niwa! Best sushi in Tacoma. It’s super fresh and super cheap. Compared to other places their sushi tastes good and cost does not compromise. The cashier lady is super nice every time I go and even though you wouldn’t expect them to be good it’s like a secret hole in the wall. Always going back.

Best bang for your buck. For around $ 12 you get two rolls(one specialty-I opt for something that’s deep fried lol and one regular –can’t go wrong with a Cali or tuna&salmon roll), a salad, and a bowl of miso soup. For $ 4 more, you can also get a shirmp tempura hand roll which is totes amazing. Quality-wise, this is leaps and bounds better than any grocery store sushi I’ve been too, and for half the price! Staff is super friendly and always makes you feel at home while ordering. Don’t forget military get 10% off! Tl;dr: good soosh, cheap prices, nice people, discount for serving ‘murica

Where do you get two orders of sushi(they run a special) miso soup, salad. Tea, and two cans of pop for under 16.00? Nowhere!!! I’ve eaten raw fish in a boat. This is good sushi. I love this place. I’m here every week and the people are so kind. It was hard to find, come into the Asian marketplace and find the food court.

My husband and I were staying at a hotel up the road and I was really wanting sushi. So glad I looked on Unilocal for this place! Like others have said, the prices are great! We got the 3 special roll deal that comes with a soup and salad for $ 19.99. Thanks to the military discount, we spent a few cents less than that for our dinner. The worker was even kind enough to give us two soups and salads even though we didn’t ask. We ordered the orange blossom, tempura shrimp, and tiger rolls. The orange blossom roll was okay for what it was, per my husband. He didn’t read what was in the roll, only that it had salmon on top. The tiger roll was also okay. The tempura shrimp roll was what we really liked! So big! The use of French fried onions was new to us. Odd but good texture. We definitely liked the price and would go back to try more rolls.

4.4 Popped in for my third visit and decided it was time at share my opinion. The setting is interesting as it is inside the food court of Paldo World, a Korean supermarket. The proprietors are Korean, which is nothing new when at a sushi establishment on the West Coast. The lady at the counter couldn’t be friendlier and the work as fast as possible to get out the goods. I noticed that the prices have gone up a little which is understandable since they were charging next to nothing a few months ago. Enough talking, here’s the goods: Location: Great. Shared searing/food court Food: Good! Love their salad! Sushi is very good. I was impressed during my previous visits as well as today. 2 fancy rolls with salad and miso for $ 13.95. That’s a sizable lunch for the price of 1 fancy roll elsewhere. Price: Very fair! They have great specials. Their cheapest is $ 10.95 and That gets you 1 fancy roll, one regular roll, miso and salad. It’s truly all you need.

I searched for Sushi in Lakewood WA and found Sushi Niwa. This is a great casual environment with a fantastic Sushi menu and a large selection of Korean dishes. You will not go wrong by eating here. It is located inside the PalDo World Market. Enjoy!!!

I really really want to like this place. but I cant. I’ve been here twice now, and both times have been utterly disappointed. The quality of the rolls is subpar at best. The service is near nonexistent. The best thing about this place is the complimentary salad and miso they provide you at the beginning of your meal. It’s laughable when the miso and salad take roughly 10 minutes to get to you. There is not much complexity to the rolls that they offer, yet they take their time preparing the food. I wouldn’t mind that at all, if the quality of the rolls was worth the wait. The two times I visited equates to about 6 rolls in total. Each roll had one or two pieces that were missing nearly everything that makes it a sushi roll. I would legitimately have 2 pieces with just rice and seaweed(or close to it). It’s frustrating. With the price changes, it’s not even a «deal» anymore. Don’t even get me started on the excess fluids from the ginger that the rolls quickly absorb. I love my ginger, but soggy rice infused with ginger juices? No thank you. When one of your friends mentions«whys it wet??» There’s something wrong. I’m sad… I thought this was the go to sushi place with all its rave reviews. guess the search continues.

We stopped here on our way into Tacoma with sushi cravings and a need for lunch. We were not disappointed. The BOGO special is very well worth it. $ 10.99 for 1 special roll, 1 regular roll free; plus soup and salad. They also have a special that is $ 20 for three special rolls, plus soup and salad. We didn’t try that this time around. The food was brought out to us and beautifully displayed. The soup was your basic miso soup, and the salad was fresh greens. Didn’t seem like it had been sitting around for a ridiculous amount of time. Our special rolls were the Playgirl and Tempura Shrimp; husband then got spicy salmon, and I got regular salmon. Everything tasted fresh, and the proportion of rice to fish was reasonable. The spicy salmon roll seemed to have more of a Korean spice to it, as opposed to Japanese. Kind of a sharper spice, if that makes sense. The staff were very friendly. We sat right by their storefront, so they talked to our daughter, and they also actually bring the food to the table. Water comes free, and they bus the table for you. We’d definitely come by again on our way north. As other reviews have said, it does get cold in there, so bring a layer to wear inside. Also, it is inside the Pal Do World Market, so don’t look for the restaurant name when you pull into the parking lot. Go around to the back of the lot and park by the market and go in. The food court area is straight back from the market entrance.

This is our favorite sushi joint in Tacoma! How the heck can you beat the BOGO sushi special? It comes with miso & a really yummy salad. Seriously — where can you spend 20 bucks for a full meal for two people anymore?!! Super casual place. It’s inside an Asian grocery store so don’t go expecting fine china. No frills. Just great sushi rolls.

I finally got to go to this place because of a random trip to Lakewood. I had two sushi rolls(fire engine and Washington) and they were fresh and really good. I am going to get one of their sushi platters this weekend because its so reasonable. I would check it out. They are in the back of the asian grocery mall place(go to the back of the parking lot).

The prices are amazing. Least expensive sushi restaurant I’ve been to in a while. You get plenty of food too. The Special is by far the best deal. Two special rolls and miso soup and salad for $ 10.99. The rolls are 8 pieces each and pretty tasty. The ratio of fish to rice is just right. Our rice was a little mushier than I prefer, but the price makes it well worth it. It’s located inside the Korean grocery store and it’s really cold, so bring a sweater.

Important notes This restraunt is in the food court of the Korean supermarket, so don’t waste time looking around the Plaza for the restaurant sign. This place has such a good deal for the sushi. I ordered a special roll and got a free regular roll plus miso soup and a salad and free tea for just under $ 11. The sushi was very fresh and so good. I loved the Las Vegas roll and my baked salmon roll. They were so delicious. It was AMAZING.

Fantastic specials, out of the way service, and really yummy food. The people at this restaurant are so nice and so sweet. I got the 9.99 bogo roll special. 2 rolls, salad, and miso soup for 10 $, such a great deal. The rolls were beautifully made and generous portions. I had so much I had to to go my leftovers. I don’t have time to make rolls intricate like this restaurant, so I know where I will be coming for birthday & holiday platters. Convenient location right off i5.
