CLOSED! This place was fantastic. We’re very sad to see you guys go. Not sure what happened, but this was the best pizza in town. Much better than the other joint in Belmar.

Really disappointed… after the recent Race for the Cure we stopped in as a group of 8 for lunch… We have sent this message twice to their email address on their website with zero response: Hi, We stopped in at 11:30 yesterday for lunch. We were pretty disappointed and thought you should know a few things: At 11:30 we sat down and the young lady pointed out that hey just opened and we were too early. We ordered beverages and pizzas. The pizzas were overcooked with almost all of the crusts singed black. We broke this off and ate as we were very hungry after doing the Race for the Cure. The wait person never came by to ask about the pizzas. Our sodas were empty and there was never an offer for any refills. Irene and I have enjoyed the Oven on many occasions with friends and family over the years. The service with a $ 100 lunch was just terrible. Hope this information can help you figure out what went wrong yesterday. Thanks, Anyway in this day and age poor service can cripple a business via the Unilocal,FB and Youtube… Hope these folks get the message… Take your business to someplace that covers the basics!

Yummy yummy yummy! Had the mozzarella and tomato salad to start and it was delicious — definitely was fresh and SO good. Then followed up with the mushroom pizza with their homemade sausage. Can’t wait to come back!

Sublime casual quality. Food prepared with love. Ingredients? All first class. Taste? Perfect. What a perfect place, sadly my date turned out to be less than palatable, the food more than made up for that!

I have been coming here occasionally since they opened in 2002. Every pizza every time over the years is delicious(made my own tonight-meatball, marinated portabella & tomato). The cooked veggi salad is a must with each visit, & I’ve only had wonderful red wines. Service has always been friendly & speedy. The staff here only seems to know«on your toes» with approx 250 pizzas going out for the average weekend evening. I’ll always come back for more! ***Sadly, they CLOSED at the end of October, so I won’t be going back for more. ***

Great food, fine dining extras on a budget. This is not just a pizza joint. Appreciated the fresh ingredients and House made sangria was tasty n not sweet. We sat at the bar n Anthony was knowledgeable, and friendly. Only complaint was the two gentlemen in long hair. Anthony and another blond server had long hair which they constantly«threw» out of their eyes. Not the best impression of cleanliness when serving food and drink. The ladies serving n hosting all had their long hair in pony tails or buns.

The Oven is a good place for pizza in Bel Mar. They have great toppings, excellent wine and draft beer selections, and a pizza of the week special. They tend to be fairly light on sauce and toppings, the crust is light as well though which I personally like. Aside from the food, however, I have one gripe. The place is small, and to compensate the only tables they have long tables for community seating. I dislike this very much, as it’s difficult to interact with your own party unless they’re sitting across from you, and it’s impossible not to be involved with other people at the table that you didn’t want to eat with. For me it makes for an unpleasant experience. In short, good food, bad seating, good service. If I could be more comfortable sitting here I’d be coming more often.

I’ve managed to miss happy hour and the ½ priced bottle Wednesdays every time I’ve visited, which is highly unusual for me. So the fact that I come here so often without HH should be some sort of evidence of how much I enjoy the Oven. It’s small and casual and I can’t wait until I can start using their patio. The service is always reliable and the food comes out of the oven hot and fresh. I recommend sitting at the bar or the stools in front of the oven at least once, just to give you some appreciation of how your future pizza came into existence. The number one reason why I come here so often is the Crazy Good Mozzarella. The name is a bit presumptuous, but they really did nail it. Any of the servers will recommend the best way to eat it — take the bowl of hot mozza drowning in olive oil and dump it out on the plate, slice, and dig in. Once you’ve tasted it with the focaccia, you’ll know why they call it the Crazy Good Mozzarella. The pizzas are pretty solid. Sometimes we’re adventurous and get the Gilbert special, but call me plain, I think in the end I just like a good old fashioned Margherite. Also, I think this is one of the first places I learned that you can take a bottle home with you. So there’s no pressure to chug my wine. Finally, if you’re better at saving room for dessert than I am, see if you can order the house made doughnut. It looks amazing and I probably see a half a dozen ordered every time I’m there!

Living in West Denver, I am often going to Belmar for movies and sometimes I like to grab something before the film starts. I actually haven’t had the greatest luck in restaurants here. A lot of places are bland mini-chains or have surprisingly long waits. The Oven stands out by having quick service and delicious pizzas. The pizza menu is pretty simple… a dozen pizza varieties including a few unusual ones such as an egg and spinach pizza doused in Sriracha. I opted for a simple pepperoni and got a slice of my friend’s portobello. Both were quite good. I also enjoyed the simple green salad with a tangy balsamic and fun little carrot curls. The service/décor is good though does have a few quirks. Most of the sitting is family style so be prepared to be kind of close to some strangers. They also have a kid who opens the door for you and kind of serves as host, which basically means pointing to whatever spots are available. I kind of felt bad for him when I visited because he was wearing only a white t-shirt and he was constantly exposed to the freezing cold drafts from the door. Our wait-service was pretty good as well.

My fiancé and I have come to love this restaurant — it’s one of our favorites. Good atmosphere, friendly employees, and excellent food and drinks. They serve a lot of locally made craft spirits and cocktails — you can tell that the bartender really enjoys creating new delicious drink concoctions. My absolute favorite is the CBG — it is so so so good. It is made with small batch gin, basil simple syrup, fresh squeezed orange, lemon, and lime juice, and basil. They also hand craft their grenadine and maraschino cherries — Delish! In terms of food, we absolutely LOVE: — The Oven Vegetable Salad. Fresh, local greens with brick oven grilled veggies(such as broccoli, cauliflower, onions, tomatoes, and carrots). It comes with a parmesan crisp on top that my fiancé thinks comes straight from the heavens above — he always orders extra for $ 1.00 more. — The pizzas. Tasty thin crust pizzas with fresh, local ingredients cooked in a brick oven. Fantastic! They serve a weekly pizza special and it’s always good. We especially love the egg and spinach pizza — it is topped with lots of crispy bacon, tomatoes, spinach, an egg(over easy), and Sriracha sauce. You should definitely try it — I think you’ll love it too!!! — The fresh mozzarella appetizer. YES. YES. YES. — The homemade donut dessert is always a treat. I’m pretty sure that anything we try here, we will love.

I work in the Belmar area and have been wanting to give this place a go for about a year now. I met a friend for lunch here last week. After reading over the Unilocal reviews– I was expecting a little more for some reason. Overall Oven Pizza was okay — but nothing special. Courteous service. Good quality food– but a tad over priced– especially for lunch time. They really need to update their menu on Unilocal– as more than a few items were not available any more(read tasty OLIVEAPPETIZER — which was a hit with numerous others in the Unilocal reviews) Maybe I will return for dinner and some wine? Not sure yet.

I really like this place! We wandered in on a chilly, breezy night while walking around Belmar. Pizza just sounded good. The place is little, but the wood-burning oven fits just fine, and made for some darn good ways. We Had: 9″ Pepperoni Pizza($ 8.50) — The crust was crisp but not dry, and the pepperoni slices were the largest I’ve ever seen.(See Photo). Those monsters were literally 3 inches in diameter. The Man thought the pizza was too greasy, and mopped up the grease with a napkin. But the bites I had were good. Not oh-my-gosh fantastic, but solid. I think a wee bit more cheese would have upped the flavor. But then, I freaking love cheese. Their other topping combinations looked interesting, specifically the bacon, spinach, egg and sriracha one. Gotta try that. You know what *was* «Oh-My-Gosh Fantastic»?? The Haystack Goat Cheese Salad with Proscuitto and Sopresatta.($ 8.75) — Holy Moly! There was a pile of greens dressed in a caramelized onion balsamic vinaigrette, topped with fresh ribbons of carrots(Yep, still had their crunch), a few wedges of tomatoes, and a generous sprinkling of local Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese. Heaped in front of that were plenty of slices of Sopresatta and Proscuitto.(See Photo). This salad impressed me, and I will be back just for that. The only thing missing was a sprinkling of freshly ground black pepper. Just the pre-ground stuff on the table. The beers were all reasonably priced, $ 3-$ 5, and they have bottled sodas for $ 3 too. We didn’t actually have room for dessert, so I guess I’ll have to go back for some Tiramisu and another hit of that awesome salad. Another winner within walking distance from my place!
