Aldi is a great store. We travelled to this store based on a recommendation form another person and we felt that they carried a little less than the Shillington store and their prices were comparatively a little more expensive.

It takes a trip or two to get used to and I was skeptical at first. Now, I shop here every week and feed our family of 3 for about $ 50. I am usually in and out within 25 minutes and that is much appreciated. The food is mainly private label but it is really good(though I have been disapointed with a small number of items). Brand names exist for some things but I don’t bother seeking them since their stuff is so tasty. I should add that I eat pretty healthy and they have plenty of whole grain, low fat, low sodium foods. Things are in boxes of sorts but they are well displayed and easily accessed. Fruit is fresh and meat is high quality– not what one might expect at a discount place. I find that I go to a full service grocery(Giant) once every few weeks or for a quick run as Aldi doesn’t carry everything I might need but the stuff I rely on week in and week out is all there. You have to bring a quarter for the cart but you get it back when you return the cart. You should bring your own bags(go green!) but they sell nice, large canvas or plastic bags for very cheap. You have to box/bag your items but this makes check-out go very quickly(and really, you have to do most of your own bagging at other stores, nowadays). You cannot use credit cards– cash or debit. Staff very friendly and happy to help out but one of the reasons stuff is so inexpensive is that a store has only 2 or 3 people working and they do check out and stocking so they are busy. No kids standing around chatting about what they’re going to do later– these people are professionals. Go with an open mind and prepare to be pleasantly surprised. Especially good for practical people who have better ways to spend their time and money than grocery shopping.

Umm. Im not sure how to take this place. Not quite a grocery, not quite a discount, yet its both. — — — - FOOD: Its got a bunch of the usual grocery items, but they are mostly piled up in boxes. Not much in the way of brand names, they have special private labels for most stuff. But you can find brnads if you look hard enough. DECOR: Its very discount groceryesque. Piles of stuff here or there, a refrigerated section. kind of small feeling i think. — — — - I probably wont go here again unless work sends me. I just dont get it.
