I went there and played my banjo and listened to allot of talent. It was fun and will go again.

Ive been living in Lancaster for almost 2 months now, and I never knew this place, nor the entire section of old town Lancaster existed. We came here last Thursday night for their open-mic night to support a friend’s band. I was totally surprised at what a great place this is. The venue only holds a few hundred people(I’m guessing). The stage is pretty small, but the feel of it is like an old high school auditorium. I don’t know much about the history of the place, but I get a good vibe. Its a good place to see bands play, because its small, you can get up-close and personal with the band, but still have the acoustics of a big venue. We’re going back tonight for a show, I can’t wait! — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - ‘According to Linda Reynolds, the AV Allied Arts Association Board President, the center is home to 12 different artist groups who provide programs for children, an art gallery and theater groups and has shown art by local as well as nationally known artists. It also offers dance and theater programs to the community.’

It is really hard to find a community of artists doing their own thing for fun – whether it’s spoken word, playing the cello, rapping or reading a story – right here in the Antelope Valley. I don’t even know of any other existing open mics in the Valley. But the Cedar Open Mic Night every Thursday at the Cedar Center has a large following of talented people. Check it out if you’re starved for art in the AV!
