Blue Dog Pub is a typical bar with bar food. The menu offers more food options than would a typical bar(steak and ravioli) but should stick to wings, fries, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. I imagine most consumers go for those items anyway. I rolled in for lunch, because this place has been around for ages and often gets overlooked. I also recalled a day where they had stellar french fries and gravy. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and paid an additional $ 1.50 for fries over chips. I sat at the bar because the place was pretty crowded for a lunch time in a relatively distant place from most offices. Kudos to drawing a lunch crowd. Back to the food. The chicken sandwich was above average for a bar food chicken sandwich. There was bleu cheese that was creative. Of course bleu cheese is a Buffalo chicken sandwich goto, but the crumbles were perfect for the cheese I so often seek in a Buffalo chicken sandwich. The bleu cheese crumbles were abundant, but complimentary. Objectively, it was too much for what its purpose was, but I appreciated it personally. The chicken was real chicken. It wasn’t a prepackaged, frozen wasteland piece of meat. It at least appeared, tasted and felt like a real chicken breast battered and fried for me to enjoy. It demanded respect beyond a cheap ploy to garner money to offset beer special prices. Along side the chicken sandwich was a mountain of fries. Not just any fries. Steak fries. Usually about 5 – 10 are equal to a serving of regular fries. However, I got 15 – 20 steak fries. That’s like a mountain of fries! The downside to Blue Dog: after so many years it still seems like Blue Dog is trying to find its image. The menu shows it’s trying to be upscale and build a reputation for its food, but it is really a bar with great bar food: a market looking to be broken open in the North Penn community.

Amazing strip mall hidden jewel bar of Lansdale, Pa. The selection and beers on tap are so great! The bar tenders are bad ass friendly, great wings and sauces, and great Americana feeling and themed sports bar. Lots of people of all walks of life young, old, rich, poor, enjoying great brews and having a good time with friends, coworkers, or just a friendly stranger. Best of bars in the area

I really love this place! Great food and great beer selection. Everytime I have come here, rather on break, after work or just on personal time I have had a good experience and great quality food. I’ve tried many different things here. From a great tasting Reuben sandwiches to various flavors of buffalo wings to delicious cheese fries. It’s a solid place, usually you get one or the other a great beer selection with«ok» food or great food and BYOB place. Especially for the burbs coming from the city this is a great find. I reccomend this place for anyone who wants to chill out with a nice cold beer and great food to pair. Also they have a pool league here as well with a pool table to practice. Will definitely return again and again even if I’m not in the area.

Excellent beer selection. Especially if you enjoy IPAS. They usually have pretty good specials throughout the week too. When it comes to the food, I haven’t had a bad meal yet. Came with my parents and ate just as much of their food as I did mine. I had salmon, dad had meatloaf, and mom had chicken parm. Literally three of the most different entrees and they were all excellent with great sides as well. The chef is doing something extremely right back there!

Fantastic food, fantastic beer list, everyone(servers and visitors) are very friendly. One of my favorite places in the Lansdale area! The honey hot bbq wings were recommended by a bartender and they didn’t disappoint. Wings are great!

Love this place! It’s my go to place for happy hour. The food is surprisingly good, especially the wings. They have really good cheese fries with homemade cheese. The bartenders are always friendly and there are some regulars that are friendly as well and it’s a mixed crowd, which I like. It’s a good, clean bar and they make strong drinks :)

This is a bar that sells food. Nothing special. I live near here and dont care for the motley types out front smoking. I only go there to buy take out beer now.

Non descript bar with good beer list. Food is the same as the Chalfont locaton. It lacks some of the little touches that the other location has, including a back room for private parties, and the juke box. They have a bottle shop in the front of the establishment similar to Chalfont. Staff work at both places so you will see the same friendly faces at both locations. Best deal are the happy hour specials on wings, steamers or hummus.

Not a bad spot for a sandwich and a casual sit down. They have decent TV screen to watch a game. Not much more to say about this watering hole.

I haven’t been here in about 4 years as whenever I pondered a visit I would think«mediocre/dive-y/shitty atmosphere» and then go somewhere else. Well Friday night I met a friend there who was already high from smokin’ a doob and needed to munch down and chase with some beers. I’ll have to admit that the Blue Dog has improved since years ago with a very good draft beer selection, and the basic junk food selections to satisfy your munchies. The wings and the burgers were winners. The chili was average. The potato chips, although I believe they were homemade or at least that type, were a little stale. The bartender was OK, but a lot of chatting with his local regulars had me occasionally calling across the bar for service. The atmosphere or should I say«lack of atmosphere» has not changed, those friggin’ lights at the take-out beer section at one end of the bar are too bright carrying over to the rest of the place, makes it feel like you are in a store rather than a bar. Overall I will return when I am jonesing for some beers and wings.

Never again. Some friends and I decided to give this place a shot when we heard they have trivia on Tuesdays. The place is rather small, squeezed into a strip mall. Our waiter seemed agitated and annoyed that he had to wait on us at all, like it wasn’t his real job and he was just filling in for someone else. At least he had his dreadlocks tucked under his enormous hat, but otherwise dreadful service(pun intended). I asked for no jalapeños and cheddar cheese on my wrap. What did I get? Jalapeños and no cheese. There was also virtually no chicken on my southwest wrap. My soda was flat, so I guess it’s a good thing he didn’t bother to ask if I wanted a refill. As many seem to love to point out, yes, they have a decent beer selection, if you happen to like Stone brewery, as most of their craft beers were from there. As for trivia, the main reason we went: Yikes. Horrible, no other way to describe it. The guy zipped through the first few rounds, which consisted of terribly uneven questions that ranged from ridiculously easy to unnecessarily obscure minutia. But since he had to go to 10, the last two rounds dragged on interminably with long gaps before and after the rounds. We are seasoned players who frequent different trivia nights, and this was by far the worst we’ve been to. One team won all the rounds(of course), either thanks to cell phones or hearing the questions someplace else. When I say these questions are obscure, I’m not exaggerating. Not enjoyable trivia, but random, esoteric crap. The host is creepy, mangled most of the questions(that he pulled from the internet, I presume) and bragged about being an extra once on a tv show, which in his mind makes him a celebrity. He should stick to being an extra and give up hosting trivia. Suffice it to say, we will not be returning.

Kevin and the entire staff are A++++ worthy. I mention Kev because he is usually the bartender entertaining us. However, the staff is great. It is my favorite sports bar in the area. So if your in Lansdale, PA stop by Blue Dog Tavern for good food, great drinks, and great fun.

I have been a regular here for many years, but after my experience tonight, i won’t be coming back for a while. Ordered the jumbo sausage stuffed pork and i struggled to cut it with a steak knife. When i sent it back, i got the message from my waiter that the Chef did not want to cook me another one. The last time i ate here, i ordered the pork sandwich and it too was overcooked. So I ordered a burger and asked for it medium rare, when i got it, it was medium well not even a hint of pink. When i showed the waiter, he did not even offer to take the burger off my bill. Stick with the beer and the wings

I’ve stopped in a couple times for a drink. They recently had a groupon so I bought one. It’s your typical local bar. They do have a beer«store» in the front and have an excellent selection. We sat at the bar and were greeted. Not overly friendly staff, but it was 12 on a Sunday, so maybe they were a bit tired. We ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and jalapeño burger. The wrap was served with chips. I don’t know if they were homemade, but they were pretty good. My wrap had the right amount of zing to the buffalo sauce. My husband burger was good, but over cooked. He ordered medium, it was medium well to well. They do seems to have good beer/drink specials throughout the week. I believe miller lite was the special for Sunday. I would certainly return when I’m in he area.

Decent bar in the area. Been here a few times, a good place to grab a quick bite. They have the typical bar menu, with a few extra items. Crab cakes, linguine and clams, just to name a few. I would recommend the burger or wings. We picked up wings for Super Bowl XLVIII… at least we had something to keep us entertained. Their wings are tasty and there’s a good number of sauces, from original to Parmesan ranch. The other plus is their beer selection. Looking for a good seasonal or speciality beer? The perfect pumpkin beer? This is the place to go. Once you walk in the door, there are cases full of cold beers. Ask the waitress, they are both friendly and helpful.

The Blue Dog has a great draft beer selection. Their take-out beer selection is good too. I really love their homemade cheese fries! My fiancé has loved every special he has tried as well. The service is spotty.

I have been to the Blue Dog Pub several times. The beer selection is phenomenal and better than almost any bar I have been too. There are daily special items on the menu. The food is not 5 star but there is a great variety and I have never had a bad meal.

We’ve been to the Blue Dog a few times, to both locations(in Chalfont and Lansdale) but as Lansdale had a beer we really wanted to try, we hit them up for some dinner. The crowd was quite light, with several booths open so we made our way to one in the center of the restaurant and proceeded to take in the menus. The Blue Dog has a decent amount of pub food, but it’s rather limited in variety. You won’t find juicy burgers or the like on here — the only burger I saw was on a pretzel roll. Also, no cheesesteaks(a Philly staple!!). The beer menu is pretty deceiving as well. You are handed this large menu with what looks to be about 40 craft beers on it and you think«SCORE» until you get to the point after the 11th beer and it says«Coming Soon…» *womp womp* and then there are arrows of ones coming soon pointing upwards. The food was ok. Not that it was bad, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. The French onion soup is perhaps the best I’ve ever had in awhile, but the sandwiches(I had the chicken italiano and he had the filet Panini) were loaded and soggy. There was no way you could eat it as a sandwich. I had multiple versions of fries on my plate, too(steak, regular, small. very odd and inconsistent). I do have to say that our server was top notch and very helpful and attentive. The dessert we had(homemade chocolate peanut butter pie) was probably the highlight of the evening. Very good but chunky(has nuts for those who aren’t a fan). I believe the pub has a bunch of events throughout the week — we happened on Trivia night. I guess the locals enjoy it, I’ve been to better(Steppy’s in E. Norriton on Wed. nights). The MC was a little too creepy for my taste and the questions weren’t really trivia relatable — just stupid knowledge. As for the take-out area, they have a lot of decent beers, many locals that are bottled. If you drink those in-house, it’s a $ 2.50 upcharge per bottle. You can also try Capone’s in E. Norriton for some really great brews as well and I don’t believe they have an upcharge for drinking in the restaurant.
