Best crabcake ever!!! Took it to go and wished I had ordered 2. Did not eat in because they do not have a liquor license and, although very clean, it smells fishy

I think this may be my first 5-star review. Maybe not, but I do not generally refer to things as «100%». This place deserves nothing less. Service is superb… Not so «in your face» to be annoying, but very attentive and they clearly care about their customers’ happiness/satisfaction. I had the most delicious seafood bisque of my life to start, followed by a crab dish that is essentially a «crab cake» but with absolutely no filler, cooked to perfection. The atmosphere and décor are just beautiful. Prices very reasonable, especially when considering the superb quality. I will absolutely return here very soon. Also, BYOB!!! Give this little gem a try!!!

Doing an adjusted review to make my evaluation fair across various eating places in Lansdale. One Star means I won’t be caught eating there, and from how empty the place looked every time I drove by, neither would a lot of folks.

Tried to get takeout. Woman said I couldn’t pay because they didn’t have tape for the credit card machine. Tried to pay with cash but I had $ 1 less than the cost of my order, and she wouldn’t take that. Is this how you run a business?

Updated review. Returned for another meal recently and nothing has changed. Same informal vibe, friendly service and outstanding cooking. Crab cake was excellent and the fries are everything a good french fry is supposed to be. The slaw is different with a nice subtle anise note. Bread pudding for dessert finished an excellent meal. B.Y.O.B., no corking fee, reservations were needed the Friday night were eat there so call ahead.

We didnt have a reservation, but the owner sat us anyway. Calamari, best Ive ever had. Fish and chips were done perfectly. Service was amazing, the owner takes it personally to bring your food out.

We LOVE Shell.Fish.Sue. It’s a bit of a hike for us, but the food and friendly service are worth it. Renee, the owner, is such a nice guy. The food his kitchen prepares is simply excellent! My husband and I dream and salivate over the spicy calamari — mmm, writing that makes me want some right now! Love the fish tacos(have had them many times), the shrimp po boy, the fresh fish, the soup, the french fries(mmm), Renee’s bread pudding… Agh, I want to eat there right now! Wish they’d open a second restaurant closer to us! If you need to eat in the Landsdale area and like seafood, this is the best spot. It’s casual, not run-of-the-mill food and… BYOB!

We went here for a birthday on a Friday night, and it was great! The service was wonderful and attentive and food was delicious. Calamari was different and very tasty. The mussels and clams in the coconut curry sauce was spicy and the bread served with it was perfect. My daughters loved their fish stew with bread and we had their bread pudding for dessert. We even got some complimentary dumplings to munch on as we were perusing the menu. We will definitely be back for a great meal with very friendly people at a decent price!

We went in with a party of 5. It wasn’t very busy which gave me pause for a Saturday night, but we had a great time. The food was incredible! I’ve seen some reviews about taste and quality, but all of my guests were impressed. I think they’ve adjusted prices since some of these reviews were posted as many of the entrees were around 15 bucks. I think you should give it a try. I drove past many times and didn’t, and I wish I had!

Easily one of the most overrated restaurants I’ve ever eaten at… wow…what happened?! Their chefs must have changed recently or they’re trying to save money because things are tough. The atmosphere was ok but I knew we might be in for trouble when I realized the air conditioning was turned off… and they turned it on because we were there… that tells me they need to watch every penny. The tables were also wobbly and we even moved. Service was ok. The food quality was poor and the prices much too high. My friend and I tried the appetizer that was suppose to be great in another review and the shrimp po boy. The appetizer’s mustard was so overpowering it was ridiculous and the shrimp in the po boy was nothing like what was described earlier. They were like the little breaded shrimp you can get at Costco in an overly bready bun. Essentially I overpaid for something I could throw together at home… and taste much better! Overall, just avoid… things must be on a downward spiral there given past reviews and the quality of our food. There are many, many better choices in the area for food and money. Avoid.

Agree with the other patrons. Food not worth the money. Baltimore crab cake was terrible and fries were overcooked. 1 crabcake for $ 18.00. It was very small, salty, and bready. Save your money and go elsewhere. The folks that wrote nice reviews must be friends.

Went back for lunch with my sister after not having been there for a good long while. Still amazing food for good prices and the staff is friendly, efficient and fun.

I’m also confused as to where all of these positive reviews are coming from because this place was a disappointment. The food was just ok, but the portion sizes were horrible… and everything was extremely overpriced. Will not go back.

I really have no idea who are these people leaving all the nice reviews! Did they not have the same food as we had!!! After we saw all these good comments about this place, me, my husband, his mother and sister decided to come and check it out. Its pretty cute inside, and as lots of reviewers mentioned before, most of its decore comes from ikea. It was a Monday night, we were the only table in the whole restaurant. The waiter was ok, we asked him if he had sweet iced tea and he replied — yes, we have splenda. Well, that was odd… Then we ordered — 2 apps and 4 entrees. I notice that almost every entrée was not lower than $ 16 and i thought — it must be really good! When the apps came out we actually liked them. I can’t say they were absolutely amazing, but they weren’t bad. We had artichoke dip and crab fritters. And then came the entrees. What a huge let down they were! Me and my husband ordered tacos. Now any other place you go, you get 3 tacos to an order. We got only 2. They had 3 deepfried shrimps and some pico de gallo. Nothing else. The taco shells werent toasted, they just fell apart. My mother in law ordered a fish basket, which didnt look bad upon arrival. But when she started eating it, she realized it only had 4 shrimps and 3 oysters. These few pieces of seafood were resting on top of the enormous amount of fries. By the way we all had most of our plates filled with fries that didnt even taste good! You could tell it was frozen precut french fries! My sister in law had some kind of sandwitch, that was very very small and again lots and lots of fries… And then, dissatisfied, we got our bill $ 99! We could get a better meal at long john silver at a way better price. I’m still amazed at the number of stars this place has here! Dont waste your time and your money!

Started off our meal with the calamari which was soood good! Pretty spicy too! The curry flavor is a great addition! We also really enjoyed the salmon and the oyster po boy. This is a great addition to Lansdale. The owner was very attentive and friendly. The waiter was newer and still working on his service, but overall a great experience. Would recommend to anyone looking to try something new in Lansdale!

I grew up in the area here on the east coast and I have been living on the west coast in the San Francisco Bay Area. Traveling and dining on the coast from San Diego to Seattle, Washington. And annual trips to Maui, HI. I am meeting my Cuz Sammy for lunch and tell him I want seafood. Here we are in Lansdale, «Seafood, here» I ask. Sure enough, Owners Rene’ and partner Sue are bringing y’all some of the best I have ever tasted in my 60 years of life and travels. Sammy had the Sea Food Bisque in a lobster sauce and Crispy Fried Seafood Basket. My Crab cake came with a Vegetable substitute of spinach lightly sauteed in garlic, olive oil and slightly seasoned. Rene’ owner/server was attentive and helpful in our selection. The veggies and fish are bought fresh and locally. The slaw is a gourmet treat whipped up fresh in their kitchen. The food was seasoned to perfection, no salt, pepper needed. The sauces were delicious but would not use them on my dish as my dish was perfect as presented. I live in an area fondly known as the Gourmet Ghetto.
I wish we could have Sue and Rene’ up the street joining some of the finest cuisine in the world. Jim K says: check em out y’all.

I hate to bash a small independently owned restaurant, but I had a pretty bad /scary experience. I realize it’s tough to keep seafood fresh, but something was definitely off with the bisque that we had last week. The smell and taste of ammonia is dead give away when you’re dealing with bad seafood, in this case it was the crab or shrimp at the bottom of the bisque. At first they tried to say it was the cream on top, but c’mon… I’m a chemist and cream does not taste like ammonia… Luckily we sent it back and neither of us got sick over the weekend. They were very nice dealing with it and taking if off our bill, but unfortunately it’s that kind of experience that turns me off to a restaurant for good. I hope you have a better experience. I’ll also echo the other reviews that it’s a bit expensive and the décor is so so.

Went there last night(Saturday night), not crouded. Food was VERY good, I got the flounder stuffed with crab. Dessert was very good. Clean restaurant and the people that were with us liked the pillow backed seats. The staff were excellent! Very nice and were right there when u needed them. Crab & spinach appetizer was great! I also like that it was a BYOB — they provided real wine glasses. The napkins could be better(cloth or something of better quality would have been nice). I would definitely eat here again, and I hope they do well.

My BF and I went to Shell.Fish.Sue last night and it was ok. Don’t go here looking for a romantic date night or a really cool atmosphere. The décor, as I have read in other reviews, needs help. It is a open space with tables on the side, and when you first walk in there is no waiting area, you have to walk to the back. Just a very strange set up. Service was nice, even though we had like 3 different servers. For food– we got the Hot Crab dip– it was really good! Great crostini and great flavor. Then for main courses I got the special– it was Shrimp and Sausage with peppers and onions over pasta with a vodka sauce and my BF got the Po’Boy Oyster sandwich. My dinner had no flavor besides the sausage, the sauce was runny instead of being thick. My BF’s sandwich was ok, the bread it comes on was so big and hard. The fries were delish. So all and all, not sure if I would put it on my list to go back. It needs some work. But I never pass up trying a BYO. I think if we did go back– maybe sample more apps. They seem to be winners.

If you are in Lansdale and are looking for a fantastic meal look no further an Shell.Fish.Sue. You won’t be disappointed. I loved everything about this place. Everything was so fresh and tasty and the service was fantastic. The décor was great too, I felt like I was eating at a little place in New England, which is a much needed break for me. Now onto the menu… seriously with delicious items like mussels, fried shrimp, calamari, fish, and crab cakes on the menu, how’s a girl to choose? I think flipping a coin is a valid option but I chose to ask the waiter. He recommended that I get the fish and chips since my mom was getting the crab cake and he was spot on. It wasn’t the greasy fried fish that you find at other places it was perfectly light fried cod with amazing chips. The crab cake(Baltimore style) was so delicious and the red onion marmalade was a great accompaniment. The hawaiian salts were awesome on the dirty fries. Finally to end the meal we had the bread pudding… with a Captain and Coke sauce was the perfect way to end the meal. It’s a must try at least once. I cannot wait to come back and to try all the other delicious offerings.
