Bar 30 is a cool, hip spot in Lansing MI. The food is good, though not spectacular. The drinks and drink specials and drink variety is awesome. The staff is awesome. I love the atmosphere and décor. I’m reading these reviews. Folks need to stop hating. We have needed a place like Bar 30 for a long time! I’m a fan. I issue a challenge to all haters. Please name a grown and sexy bar that has food, music, specialty original drinks, a no-child, no-post adolescent crowd, wine, champagne, and a hip décor with couches and lounges. I will wait!

Only been here once and it was just okay. We had drinks and an appetizer. The drink menu was great. It had a good list of mixed drinks with ingredients, something I really like. Gives me an opportunity to try something new. The drink it self was also very tasty. The appetizer was nothing special, it was a frozen pre-made product that was way over priced. Biggest issue was service. They just didn’t seem to care, no smiles, no fun, no happiness, just simple and quick. It is to bad, the décor is great and the place has an good opportunity but needs to stop over charging for average food. Can’t charge more just because of the décor.

Man, what a let down. When I first heard of Bar 30’s concept I was so excited. I was a huge advocate for its arrival, practically an unpaid spokesperson, telling everyone I knew about it. Having tried Bar 30 a few times now, I’m a little embarrassed and hope nobody took me too seriously. The pre-«club» restaurant is not bad. The menu is actually creative. The pulled pork Mac-n-Cheese sandwich is delicious. The most redeeming part of Bar 30 is the specialty alcohol menu, and if you just want a few cocktails after work or to catch up with a friend, the beverages are fun and innovative. The service is terrible. Terrible! No one smiles, and they don’t get to know their customers from what I’ve seen. It seems like they employ a lot of the cast from Twilight: teenagers succumbed with dramatic details of their dark personal lives that make it difficult for them to give 100% on the job. The club is the worst part… Like, I can’t describe it. It has to be witnessed. It’s already turned into an older scene, and the acoustics make it impossible to have a conversation. And I LOVE upscale dress codes — if it’s a Friday and you want to dance, you SHOULD dress up… But for all the warnings Bar 30 gives, it really doesn’t adhere to it’s own standards. It isn’t special, and doesn’t make you feel like its the place to be.

Cold, uninviting atmosphere but that’s because it’s a club. Clubs usually can’t be a cozy inviting restaurant by day and club by night. I ordered drinks off the menu, first the Cucumber Crush and the White Grapes. I liked both drinks. I really liked the White Grapes drink. We also ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip. It was mediocre, quite runny. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A female bartender made us a couple of her own concoctions and they were fantastic but slightly pricey. I don’t mind paying extra for a great drink though and I really like it when the bartender gets creative and suggests good drinks. I would return to Bar 30. It was decent.

Gave up before we were ever seated. Was NOT impressed — décor is kind of cool-looking, but the big sign admonishing everyone about the dress code is off-putting.(I’ve never been to a halfway decent — or classy — bar that needs one.) Looks like they’re going for the«young professional» market, but that was NOT the vibe I was picking up there.(Amusingly, that was exactly the category myself and my friends fell into.) Was also VERY loud inside. Waited around with several friends for probably 20 minutes before we decided we didn’t care enough to stay. Went to Claddagh and had a terrific time instead.

The atmosphere is hip and I liked the band. But when the band came on, it got super loud and my friend and I could not hear one another. The guac was alright, although the it all just came out of a bag/can and was put on a plate. Then I got a veggie burger, my friend got a steak. They couldn’t figure out how to cook the steak medium, and the burger didn’t taste good. They ended up comping our meal, but we agreed that we would rather pay for a good meal then getting a crappy free one.

Just not that good. Been here a couple of times, will not go back. The seared ahi tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes was terrible. It had a very off putting almost sewage type smell. Gross. The lobster bisque soup was too watery and tasted like it was from a can or bag. Guacamole app was absolute rubbish, served in a plastic replica of a traditional stone/lava rock guac bowl, that was pretty tacky. Draft beer selection is garbage. I’ll never go there again.

Food was pretty good but the service was slooooow. Beer selection was pretty wide, but I’m always amazed to see a nice restaurant like this have absolutely NO Michigan craft brews. I mean, come on! You can even get Founders at a Lugnuts game! Had the spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer and it was OK. My first beer went dry waiting for the waitress to come back and check on us. Frustrating to wait for service while we were simultaneously able to survey the restaurant from our spot on the«peninsula» seating area(which by the way, seems to only further inhibit speedy service) all of the extra staff members milling about chatting with each other while ours was MIA. Got my black and blue burger, which was good, and once again, ran out of my second beer while waiting for the waitress to come back with water. I was not slamming these drinks, the service was inattentive. Sad to see so many empty seats in the place while the staff is oblivious to the poor service it is providing. Hope that’s not typical, for Bar 30’s sake, but we for our part, we see no reason to return. There are plenty of other places that serve a good burger.

Not too impressed… I’ve lived in the Lansing area for 30++ years and would love to say this is a great addition but … Its not. Just looks like a low budget bar in a shopping mall. Cheaply decorated and bad service, bad food. Fail. Sorry.

I’m torn between a 1 or 2 star rating. I’d only give it 2 because the food was decent but watch out if you say anything about sweet potato fries to your meal and its an extra $ 2 with no notice. Mostly everything was 1 star. Service we had was terrible. Waitress never asked how anything was, suggest anything we might like, took her 3 times to even ask my bf if he wanted another drink. A guy who wasn’t even our waiter asked us more how things were. The only good service were the door men. I don’t recommend this place.
