I have been visiting the taco truck for years and I am never disappointed. They have the best chicken tacos ever. I have recently discovered the tostados. Today I opted for two bean tostados(you can get meat). The shell is light and crunchy and the sliced avocados on top make it absolutely awesome. Because I couldn’t resist, I also ordered the taco dinner to have later. I always get the green mild sauce but there are other options. It is fairly priced too. I got two tostados, three tacos, beans, rice, a tamale, and a Mexican Coke for 16 bucks. Love this place.

I love this food truck. There. I said it. Delicious nachos, burritos, tacos, rice and beans, chips, and the green, creamy, spicy sauce is fantastic! Thank you, El Oasis.

Delicious and convenient. And since it’s a food cart– you can stop by & get your food to go.

tacos are smaller than what I typically expect, flavor was alright. i know there’s a bunch of hype over this place, but there are better Mexican street food options in the Lansing area, though if I were with a group of people who wanted to go here I wouldn’t object.

Maybe my standards are too high being from CA but this place is not good. Very basic mediocre Mexican food. Theres another place in town that is so much better! I ordered a burrito to be delivered and they didn’t put meat in it after I requested carnitas. It was mostly tortilla and rice with very little everything else. Better off going somewhere else!

I am not from Chicago so you may want to skip my review however this place has the best burrito I have ever had and it is cheaper that Shitpote. You will enjoy it!!! I love their hot sauce however, use with caution. Solid guac and the quesadillas are to die for. I think I will hit this place up today because thinking about it makes my stomach growllllll.

Bomb ass quesadillas. I live a few blocks away and can’t stay away. Authentic Mexican food. I go here so much that I don’t even have to order. They just see me and put it in. Also on a first name basis. By far the best restaurant in Lansing

authentic mexican food truck in Lansing. I am a huge fan of food trucks and think there should be more of them in the area. I get the vegan burrito, chips and salsa. All of their food is so delicious and quick. I’m always tempted to stop by whenever I pass by

A cheap delicious spot for lunch or dinner! But beware, the fire sauce there is crazy spicy! My boyfriend and I shared the chicken burrito and the taco dinner which came with 3 tacos, rice, and beans. They also had outdoor seating for the customers to enjoy their food. We will definitely be coming back!

Got a small burrito with barbacoa. Meat was tender. Burrito was plenty of food for me. Love their sauces I ask for the mild and hot. They started taking credit cards!!! Charge you a 50 cent fee if you spend less than ten bucks. Totally worth it.

Best tacos in Lansing, hands down. I live in Grand Rapids now, where there is a huge variety of authentic taco places, and El Oasis is definitely up to par. The tacos are flavorful and fresh, and the verde sauce is to die for. I could drink that stuff! Pro tip: Go to the Haslett library around the corner, there’s a picnic table there.

I have only gone here two times and the first was just ok but the second was much better. The first time we got a large burrito, nachos, and the quesadilla and the large burrito wasn’t very good. Too much lettuce which made it cold too fat and not enough meat, although, I got the carnitas and they were kind of disgusting so maybe it was good there wasn’t very much meat :-/… The nachos had nacho cheese sauce instead of real cheese which was a real bummer. The quesadilla was good though no complaints there! The second time, however, was great! I got a chorizo taco, a pork taco(not the carnitas but the other one), two chicken sopes, and a chicken tostado. The tacos were excellent, real, authentic tacos. The chicken sopes were just the right texture and were great. The tostada was really great too! If the carnitas weren’t so disgusting, the nachos had real melty cheese, and the burrito wasn’t cold because of all the lettuce and stuff it would have gotten 4 or 5 stars. All in all try it out… It’s worth it and I will go back but I will avoid the carnitas haha!

This Lansing food truck has what I consider the best and most authentic Mexican food in the area. I am in no way opposed to Tex Mex done well, but true Mexican food can be awesome. If you want your giant size platter of fried food, re-fried beans and melted cheese, you won’t like El Oasis. Many of the dishes seem very simple, but they are executed with perfection. I.e. the tacos. I typically get lengua(beef tongue) or pork. Served in warm corn tortillas with the meat, onions, cilantro, sauce and a lime wedge. The Torta is great as well, as is the burritos, tamales, and tostadas. As others have mentioned, they accept credit cards, but at times their device is broken so bring cash to be certain. At lunch it can get a bit congested and you may have to wait 15 minutes for your food.

El Oasis is yet another trendy, hipster frequented, complete and total disappointment. El Oasis has two locations in Lansing. One in South Lansing on Cedar and the other more popular location on Michigan. My fiancé, my mother, and I tried the Michigan Ave location. We looked at their menu and ordered 2 cheese quesadilla’s, the 3 tacos special, and a tamale. The portions were miserably small, each taco and quesadilla was approximately the size of my palm. The tacos were about half the size of a standard taco and the quesadilla was about 1⁄3 the size of a typical quesadilla. The re-fried beans, rice, and tamale were horrible. I have literally had better from the grocery store. And the Tacos weren’t even spectacular. I think I get better tacos at Famous Taco. And their similarly priced lunch special should actually fill you. The food you receive at El Oasis, in no way resembles the pictures on the menu(side of the truck). Although the bland photos people boast about on Unilocal just about cover it. You have to be delusional to look at half of the bland photos posted to El Oasis’ Unilocal page and think it looks fantastic. That said, it was quite expensive considering what you got my taco special consisting of 3 tiny tacos and some canned beans cost about 6 or 7 dollars. I can get more and better food for that all over town(i.e., Michael’s BBQ, Spotted Dog, Crunchies, etc.). Will not be back — besides the trendy factor of being a food truck this place has nothing going for other than ironic hipster love.

Here is the deal, plain and simple. El Oasis is for those that love whole-in-the-wall venues. It is a taco truck parked in an open parking lot. You order your food at the window or by calling the guy’s cell phone for a take out order. You pay a ridiculously affordable price for your meal. Then, you proceed to either: 1) eat in the comforts of your own home, 2) eat in your car, or 3) eat on the stoop of the dilapidated house behind El Oasis. Last but not least, you enjoy your meal so much that you go back, time and time again. Does this sound good or what? ;-) Oh, El Oasis… how I have missed you since I moved back to Florida! We had a good 3 years together and you never failed me– not even once! You were there in the hot summers(for those lovely two-weeks in Michigan) and you stood strong during the winter months(pretty much the remainder of the year, minus the two warm weeks). I love you because your ingredients are simple yet so delicious. I have yet to find another taco truck to defeat you, even after my taco affairs in San Diego, Orlando and Tampa. I completely agree with Linda Q. You won’t find much of a Mexican cuisine or Latin food movement going on in Lansing. BUT: Whenever I craved even the smallest morsel of home, I would be first in line at El Oasis. No, I am not Mexican. I am Colombian & Ecuadorian. It’s just that El Oasis always had a taste of something familiar to me. It was Mexican food that was made simply and authentically, not over seasoned or Americanized. Don’t get me wrong– I like Chipotle… but not for its authenticity in the way that I love El Oasis. My «go-to» dish was the 3-taco dinner with rice and beans. You can choose any meat filling from: steak, chicken, ground beef, lengua(cow tongue), pork, carnitas and a few others. Helpful servings of diced onion and cilantro top each taco with a lime wedge on the side for a spritz of citrus. The tostadas are another good option: a fried tortilla topped with a refried bean spread, meat, cheese and lettuce. There are other meal options to choose from but honestly, I couldn’t get enough of the 3-taco special. Variety and goodness, all in one, with a bottle of pineapple Jarritos Mexican soda on the side, on the stoop of the dilapidated house in the cold Michigan air. I love it.

El Oasis how much I have missed you! I moved away after college but always come back whenever I am in the area. I always loved the torta de pollo. Friendly staff members and delicious food! Hands down the best and most authentic Mexican food in the Lansing area!
