Great lunch specials during the week. $ 7 — $ 9 combo plates for soup, salads, sandwich, or burgers. Great quality and a quiet atmosphere.

It was my first time at one of these, and we had driven to Michigan from Toronto, so maybe I was easily impressed, but, YUM. +Really, really great steak. +Excellent, EXCELLENT service. +Not too expensive. + Everything we ate was great, including the enormous Cesar salads that came with our meals. Would for sure return. I know it’s a chain, but it’s a really good one!

Delicious food and drinks! Went here on Saturday, best steak ever! Great proportions! No need for steak sauce. Waitress Charlie was very nice and explained anything we had questions about. :)

Stopped by for a late lunch… excellent service and top notch food. The place was busy with 2 large parties of Red Hat ladies that looked as tho they could be a handful… but that didn’t effect our food quality or service. I heard they had pretzel sticks but didn’t see them on the menu… server told us while they are only served at dinner… he would see to it that they made us a batch. I’m a vegetarian so I just had soup and salad… but my lunch guest had a prime rib sandwich, that looked like it could possibly ‘convert’ me! Very pleased… We will return again.

The hostess and manager had a several minute discussion in front of us on where to seat us in a half empty restaurant. Pretty lengthy to walk us 6 feet. They set a stack of three wet plates down for the four of us. The bread and rock hard butter were okay. The Texas Tonion was okay. Our sever told us the steaks were highly seasoned. My medium New York Strip came out almost well done as did my wife’s medium-well steak. The steaks were about ½ an inch thick and covered in pepper. Nothing else, just a bunch of pepper. Our daughter’s grilled cheese was thin and sad. Our other daughter ordered the chicken strips, they turned out to be the highlight of the meal. The second star is fully due to our waitress, Jackie(I think) who was attentive, friendly, and deserves to be serving better food. A mediocre meal at an unnecessary addition to the Lansing dining choices.

Lovely room, nicely decorated comfortable to be in. The food however left something to be desired. I ordered your own margarita, it came in a glass with no salt on the rim, which day gladly rectified. The new drink chain in a salted class with a big chip in it. Luckily I didn’t cut my lip. They probably made a new drink and it was fine. The promise bread did not arrive until we have started our dinner. The Caesar salad may have been good if it had not been on brown lettuce. My ribeye steak and baked potato we’re very good. But be aware the night we were there the cook cooked to the rare side so my medium rare steak was actually rare. Our server was obviously new and needed a little more experience.

As a practice, I tend not to review chain restaurants, but in a city where chain restaurants are king and new eateries are far and few between I thought I’d give some feedback on LongHorn. It appears the chain is just now starting to really sprout up all over Michigan. I’ve been to a LongHorn before nearly ten years ago out of state. At the time, I was 18, penniless and loved Carls Jr. At the time, I remember really liking LongHorn then. As a savvier eater with better financial means now, I’d say that I probably wouldn’t revisit LongHorn after my visit to their new location. It’s not exactly bad cuisine(although we experienced two very disappointing items: do not order the Firecracker Chicken starter! Tastes like frozen chicken taquitos covered in way too much nacho cheese Dorito powder) but the service was scatter-brained and a bit unprofessional(heard waitstaff openly bickering over who gets to wait on the large group coming in presumably for the tip, our waiter disappeared for twenty minutes, etc) and for the price we received substandard fare and smaller portions(about $ 70 for two). At the end of the day, we get more bang for our dollar at the handful of other chain steakhouses that are all within 2 miles of LongHorn and way better service. I like the openness and décor, and the bar looked pretty nice, but nothing else blew us away.

1st time we have been here and we cannot complain. Our server Mandy was wonderful and the food was delicious! Our steaks were cooked to perfection. We left completely satisfied with leftovers for the next day.
