I really really love eating here! I have been there many times and when I started dating my now husband I introduced him to it and it quickly became«our spot.» The food quality is beyond excellent! The only bad thing I have to say is years ago(like 14 years) my Grandma was dying of cancer and requested her favorite meal from DuPar’s, my Grandparents favorite diner, and we called for take out and they said no. ): I was shocked because they had been eating there for YEARS!

Stopped in for lunch. This restaurant was one of the few places open at 1 pm. Ordered one hotcake as an appetizer to give it a try since it is so highly rated and goodness was it delicious. The hotcake was fluffy with butter and tasty maple syrup… amazing! I also ordered the burger with blue cheese and horseradish sauce and it too was really good.

Everything here is well made and fresh. Service is friendly. This place is what IHOP pretends be. Unlike IHOP, Du Par’s cares about food instead of cost saving measures, so the food tastes good. Vegas’s standard for diner food. The secret to Du Par’s pancakes is the secret to my potatoes; both pancakes and potatoes are excellent ways to enjoy more butter. When I make potatoes for friends I always include an extra stick of butter and nobody notices or complains. They usually say«these are the best potatoes!» When you order pancakes at Du Par’s they ladle drawn butter all over that delicious sponge and make the best pancakes. If it wasn’t a pain to park I would eat breakfast/late night here more often.

Pretty solid restaurant. Wait was about 20 min at noon on New Years Eve. Ordered : Shrimp Cocktail $ 3.99 — solid. 8⁄10. Just the right amount of cocktail sauce, horseradish, and shrimps. Vegas Stack of Pancakes(3 pancakes) $ 9.25. — these are must order. Extremely fluffy. Lots of butter cooked in. 9⁄10 New York Steak Sandwich — $ 25.75 — this was a little underwhelming. The steak was cooked correctly to medium rare. It just didn’t have a good sear at all which I feel is necessary for a prime level steak(it’s USDA prime). It was tasting but honestly not quite there for the cost. 6⁄10 Overall pretty good. Stick to the classics(pancakes and shrimp)

I really enjoyed the food here and was tickled by the $ 3.99 shrimp cocktail appetizer, which comes with a great marinara sauce. I got the Vegas stack – 3 buttermilk pancakes with melted butter and maple syrup on the side. This was a standout dish. The pancakes were thick, fluffy and the butter didn’t hurt either. I’m really glad I got the pancakes because they’re famous for them. Dining companions got the salmon and the New York steak sandwich. Sandwich was great but a little on the tough side. The cinnamon rolls in the display case look like they’re worth taking home, as do the pies.

We all have to eat in Vegas right? Can’t just be on a liquid diet so we came to Du-Pars. It’s a cool little dinner in the old Vegas or as most people know it as Fremont St. You walk in and wait in line to be seated. Waited for a couple minutes and got seated in a booth. We looked over the menu wondering what to eat. I had there breakfast and the wife had a sandwich. The sandwich was a club sandwich that my wife thought it was just ok. I had eggs with sausage, hash browns and pancakes. Can you really go wrong with a simple breakfast. Service was ok, at times it felt like they were to busy and didn’t come by as often. It’s a good place to stop by for a quick bite to eat.

My bf and I came here around 2pm on a Sunday. It was our very first visit. I mainly wanted to try the classic shrimp cocktail. We ended up ordering 2 shrimp cocktails and settled to also try their pancakes since Unilocal reviews mentioned they were worth it. We ordered the short stack(2 pancakes). My god. I love breakfast but I’m very picky about pancakes and french toast, I’d rather not have them because I hate when they’re fluffy — too much breading — too dry and I don’t like to drown them in syrup either. These, however, were made from butter heaven, or at least I’m guessing that’s how they got them to be so soft. They literally fell apart(in a good way). I highly recommend you try these 2 items. It’s an odd pairing but we wanted to try them both so we went for it. Delicious. Will come back to Du-par’s everytime I’m back in Vegas. cons — the service was odd. our waitress was awkward and didn’t do things with the best of attitudes — we later found out it was the end of her shift and it made all the sense. but the food made up for it.

Du Pars is open 24 hours a day, so you can enjoy a bit to eat anytime that you want. I ordered a short stack and a blueberry muffin for breakfast the one day. I enjoyed myself so much that I keep coming back, trying different menu items each time.
I love it here. Service is great, and the food is even better! You do have to realize that you might have to wait if it is busy here, even if you want to order something simple. I think that it is worth the ten or fifteen extra minutes in line.

Great spot. Came by a little later in the evening to grab pie after dinner. Service was great and fast; the restaurant was pretty busy but not insanely packed. I had a chocolate meringue and my boyfriend had a fruity pie that he used to eat in Minnesota. Great pies, I’ll be back next time I’m downtown!

Du-par’s Restaurant & bakery located at Las Vegas’ most historic hotel and casino, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino. Since we weren’t hungry for a meal, just ordered their famous Shrimp cocktail $ 3.99 … It was fresh and crisp with a mild sauce. Did you know that in 1991 Golden Gate celebrated the sale of its 25 millionth shrimp cocktail? I wonder what the numbers now? I like to try their other breakfast items, like their fluffy pancakes, or some of their pastries … the peach or strawberry pie looks good … Perhaps some other time …

I think I made a few mediocre menu selections here. What were they? Glad you asked! The chicken noodle soup: Dare I say I’m a chicken soup connoisseur? You’re damn right I’m a chicken soup connoisseur! Does that mean I’m picky? Nope. I give the benefit of the doubt and I know that not all soups can live up to my expectations, but above all else chicken in soup should never be dry. How is it even possible when swimming in broth? The French dip sandwich: A classic hangover meal for me and a pretty damn good gauge when it comes to diner food. Unfortunately this dip fell a bit short on a few levels. First of all, for around $ 12.00 I expected a little bit lager sandwich and it was easily consumed in 6 – 8 bites. How about some more dry meat? You got it! To round it all out they are stingy with the beef au jus, which mean you have to be stingy with the au jus. When it comes to French dips, I dip and I dip hard. Dainty dipping just didn’t cut it. Expect this star rating to go up because I’m sure to be back with some better menu knowledge.

This place is good! Shrimp cocktail for 3.99 was Fresh and on point. The cocktail sauce had the perfect blend of horseradish in it We shared the country chicken with two eggs. Thank goodness it was HUGE. Chicken was tender and made with whole breast meat. Very juicy. Also got a blueberry muffin to go. Not too sweet made with real fruit. Yum. Definitely deserve the 4 stars. Sat at counter where service was faster.

DuPar’s is located inside the Golden Gate Casino on Fremont Street in Las Vegas. Fremont Street is enclosed with an overhead canopy and features live entertainment and plenty of attractions and DuPar’s is one of them. It was their famous shrimp cocktail that lured us here. Friends who visited Vegas years ago told tales of a $.99 shrimp cocktail that was outstanding. While we still found it outstanding, it was now a $ 3.99 shrimp cocktail. A classic of simplicity, it only consists of a generous serving of fresh boiled shrimp and freshly made shrimp cocktail sauce with a good kick of horseradish. Tabasco on the table allows you to adjust the spiciness to your taste. The other thing that caught my eye was the assortment of really nice pies in the display case coming in. I wanted to know if their taste matched their eye appeal. I decided to try the coconut cream and was not disappointed. A really good pie crust is getting increasingly difficult to find in this age of trans-free fat cooking but this crust was crisp, crunchy and delicious. The coconut pie filling was smooth, sweet and delicious as well. In a town where everything is done to excess, it is nice to find such simple treats done so well and so reasonably priced. If we had more time, I would have enjoyed trying all their breakfast specialties as well.

I knew I was going to like this place(inside the Golden Gate Casino) when I walked through the door and saw Fresh Strawberry Pie in the display case. I’ve eaten here 3 times so far! Thanks to Unilocalers Sylvia, Nelson, Norm, Terri, Mel and Ric for their reviews or else I would have never known this restaurant existed! For my first meal I ordered the Famous Shrimp Cocktail, the Beef Stew, a slice of Fresh Strawberry pie AND the Pie of the Month which was the Fresh Peach Pie. The beef stew was kind of bland, but the meat was very tender. It came with a plain roll. I tried it with the gravy, but it didn’t help. I tried the roll with the butter… oh yeah! ! The Strawberry Pie was great… mmm to fresh fruit! The Peach pie was made with wedges of fresh fruit. I think I was supposed to cut it with a knife, but I really enjoyed biting through the wedges of fruit. So happy that the peaches weren’t mushy! On my second visit, I ordered the Ultimate Trio which consists of a half sandwich, soup or salad, and a slice of pie. I got the Corned Beef Sandwich which was a disappointment because it was cold and it was between 2 pieces of plain bread. I needed mustard and mayo. They were out of the Beef Barley Soup(shucks), so I got the tasty(but mushy) macaroni vegetable soup. The Cherry pie was really yummy — but then, I like pie in general because it’s too challenging for me to make. I’d rather have someone else make a pie! Note: The Fresh Fruit Bowl that came with the meal, was super because of the intense flavor. Fruits shipped to Hawaii just don’t taste like this! For my third visit, I got the famous Pancakes and the French toast(which was recommended by the waitress — it was average) and the Corned beef hash with eggs & hash browns(just okay). GETTHEPANCAKES! I was skeptical because — how good can a pancake be? The fluffy, buttery goodness is WOW! I’m sure it’s because there’s butter in the batter! It’s awesome! The place has a cozy, old fashioned feeling. The service varies, depending upon where you sit. You won’t get much attention if you sit at the counter and have a super busy waiter. Just stick with the recommended dishes(Shrimp Cocktail and Pancakes) and you’ll be fine! I want to go back for the Lemon Meringue Pie and maybe the Blueberry Pie. The other pastries look good, too… let’s go!

One night, I wandered the streets in a state of what can only be described as «hangry.» I was in a foul mood since my dinner plans fell through for the night. I stumbled across Du-Par’s and they won me over with the promise of pie. My corned beef sandwich wasn’t fancy but it was good. I opted for a half sandwich so I could have a slice of pie later. The selection of pie is very good and has something for everyone. I had a slice of egg custard that was rich in flavor and firm in texture. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a great place to chill if you’re tired of the bustle of Fremont. the old time feel of the place is comforting in so many ways. It’s quiet enough to have a conversation but has a steady stream of customers. Things pick up more late night.

We visited Du-par’s on this occasion for Sunday brunch. This restaurant does a wait line like a buffet, not a list, so we like to sit at the counter if it’s available. It is easier than standing in line with no estimated wait time. Plus the counter seats are very comfortable and you get a real diner feel. On this visit, we only waited about 5 minutes before counter seating opened. The poor hostess was seating people, bussing tables, cashing customers out, and dealing with pies, so we were glad to be one less group she had to deal with. Today we ordered several items to share. 1. Blueberry muffin 4⁄5. It was soft and flavorful, but the waitress nuked it a little too long. 2. The short stack of pancakes 5⁄5(I’d give them 10 out of 5 if I could). These are the best pancakes I’ve had in Vegas. They do something sinfully good that you only see if you’re sitting by the counter. They have a hot butter dispenser and the pour hot butter all over the cakes! Holy cow is this amazing. Don’t tell my arteries! They were served with warm syrup in a cute little pitcher. 3. Denver omelet 4⁄5. The omelet was light and fluffy and not gunked down with cheese like so many places do to ruin a good omelet. 4. Traditional Eggs Benedict 4⁄5. No complaints, just how eggs Benedict should taste.

A few years back during a trip to LA, we stopped by the original Du-Pars in the Farmers Market after it was suggested to us by family. It was our first time there and we ended up just getting pancakes since they are basically«world famous». While on their own they are really really good pancakes, I could never justify going back to the LA location since there are just way too many excellent breakfast joints minutes away. So when the one in Vegas opened, I waited a while to give them a try to see if they lived up to the hype. We’ve now been there twice, and while the pancakes are still excellent, they just don’t seem to do much else well in my eyes. Located inside the Golden Gate Casino, this Du-Par’s is pretty small and tucked back into a corner. There’s a small bar and seating that sits maybe 40 or so people. Both times we’ve been here, we’ve had a decent size group of 6 or more and have had to wait to be seated. This last visit brought a group of 8, and while we didn’t have to wait too long, it drives me nuts seeing restaurants leave open tables throughout the place without seating people. I can only guess this falls back on their servers and other employees. More than one time during our most recent visit, the cashier basically got into arguments with customers. And for whatever reason, our original server just up and left after taking our orders so we had to switch servers in between ordering and getting our food. It was strange, but we lucked out since our second waiter was a huge improvement. Much like the original LA location, this one is pumping out some of the better pancakes you’ll find, especially in Vegas. They’re soft, but still have a little chew to them and I imagine that using real butter plays a huge part in making these what they are. You don’t get the greasy feeling or overly doughy center that is common with a lot of breakfast joints. While I do like them and it’s clear that they use higher quality ingredients, I’m a huge fan of unique and out of the box pancakes, so these just aren’t the be all end all for me. Now that I’ve been here a couple times, I’ve had the opportunity to try other items and that’s an area where I feel they fall short. I recently tried their corned beef hash. The $ 14 price-tag is to be expected in a casino, but with fairly small portions it’s definitely not the best bang for your buck. Not being a huge fan of hash browns in general, I didn’t care for these much, but they aren’t terrible. The hash was decent, but even after ordering it extra crispy, it was still a little on the mushy side for me. I also found it strange that they don’t seem to really season anything on the plate. Nothing a little bit of salt and pepper can’t help. I will say I do like their fresh jams served with the toast though. I have to agree with a lot of other reviewers who suggest that Du-Par’s maintains such a high average for their pancakes alone. They obviously can not correct their service issues, and other stuff on the menu doesn’t seem to be anything special. Being that we’re locals, we’ll probably be back at some point, but even the pancakes aren’t worth going out of the way for.

After our UYE hike at Red Rock Canyon, we came here to have some lunch. I opted to skip breakfast foods and go with a Reuben sandwich with french fries. The sandwich was good but it needed some more Thousand Island dressing a good Reuben has. I am upping my rating to four stars because of the excellent service we got when our previous server went on break, quit, or whatever, and we got Elias. He got me a cinnamon roll to go and made sure it was packed well in a styrofoam container and then put in a paper bag. He was also OK with our group of ten getting singleton and doubleton checks. It just didn’t bother him and was part of his job. Now, the Golden Gate needs to validate parking tickets whether you have a slot card or not! You earn enough from Du-Par’s. That’s a deal breaker for me with much of downtown.
