No watermelons(or anything else) were smashed in the making of this review. Likewise, no items will be smashed during Gallagher’s residency at Laugh Factory in the Trop. This is a show that stand-up buffs would want to go to before Gallagher is dead. Maybe he will never do the smashing again so you can just forget about that.(Watch it on YT.) (Anyone know what Gallagher’s first name is?) I have, in fact, been to a performance where he was still smashing things. It was an exciting period back then. So exciting that Gallagher has reportedly suffered two heart attacks on stage. Not sure if he was smashing at the time, but why the hell would he not be.(Let us just make the major assumption that he was.) Anyway, Gallagher has some interesting musings trapped in his mind. Pretty good crowd interaction in the second half of the hour. That is the thing: it is an hour set. Nothing more.(It will feel longer than that though.) His stand-up material was booed and jeered when I first heard it in the comedy tent at Outside Lands. I believe it is much better now that he is concentrating exclusively on it(and there are no teen-young adults expecting smashing before they go hear Deadmau5 or whatever that gimmick’s name is). If you are a fan of comedy then you should attend a performance during this residency at some point before he moves on. It is only a quick hour from 7−8PM so you would have plenty of time to do something else the same night. — E
