Hertz Rent A Car

Had a horrendous experience with this rental company. My father returned his Hertz rental car today as my car had just finished being repaired from the shop. The Hertz employee calls him shortly after we had already left the premises to tell him the vehicle smelled of smoked marijuana and wanted to charge him $ 150 to deodorize it. First off, I checked the policy on the Hertz website and it clearly states that the charge for breaking the no-​smoking rule is only $ 100 so clearly the employee is pulling dishonest tactics right off the bat. Furthermore, how is it possible that the car smells of smoke when there was no smoking taking place in the car not even once? My father was the only one to drive the vehicle during his possession of it and did not allow anyone else to operate it. Plus, you know, he doesn’t smoke anything at all in the first place. The Hertz employee found no tangible evidence of any smoking going on; no foggy windows, no ash on any seats or the trunk or carpets and no littered evidence of tobacco or herbs in the vehicle; not one scintilla of any real evidence that he had been smoking. He basically has absolutely no basis of proof to be telling us the vehicle had been smoked inside of but is adamant that smoking took place and wants to charge my dad fifty more dollars than what is stated by the Hertz policy on their website. I completely understand their policy and support Hertz’s decision but if nothing was smoked in the car to begin with, how do they have the nerve to accuse him of such a thing? We will no longer be renting from Hertz ever again and I suggest everyone else look to a different company to rent your cars from.

Today was a nightmare. Please don’t rent a car at this location. My car rental appointment was at 10am I got there and the girl who was working there (Kimberly Toldson) got there more than one hour later. (She didn’t even apologize) she gave me a car which was smaller than the one requested. I needed a GPS (which it’s true I didn’t request online) they didn’t have one there. She told me she called to the airport, and they were waiting me there with a GPS. I got to the airport and they told me that nobody called there and they didn’t have a GPS for us. After waiting for an hour, they gave me one. To sum up I wasted more than 3.5 hours today for renting a car. –NO COOL HERTZ!
