I would give Shibuya 5 stars if it were not for the service. Although quite friendly — we didn’t see our server as often as we would expect and at times had to go ask other servers to go hunting for her. The food was superb with a menu that has so many delectable choices, you find it hard to make up your mind. The sushi is first grade and so fresh it’s as if they caught it that day — instead of having it flown in from wherever. We opted to eat at a regular table rather than the teppanyaki table, and were shuffled to the back. It seemed the only other tables available for us were hidden and romantic, but since I was with a client, I decided to stay at the first table they gave us — which was right by the kitchen and servers station. Luckily the food made up for it. We had the rock shrimp tempura and the black cod appetizers — YUM! The Dragon roll was my favourite from the sushi we ordered. Dessert was a banana concoction, also plate licking good… Had the service been better, I might have put it on the same plane as Nobu, but I think I will have to go back and give it a second chance to see if it is worthy.

I do not understand how this place is rated an average of 4 stars on any planet. Yes, the restaurant looks great. Super modern, lots of grey and black, and everything flows really well. Yes, the service is great. Our waiter knew the menu like the back of his hand and was very professional. Shibuya may be the most overpriced restaurant I have ever been to. $ 35 for an average sushi roll that was tiny? $ 15 for 2 small pieces of bad salmon? Are you kidding me? Some of the food looked really good that others got at my table, but why one would drop $ 30 on dumplings is a mystery to me. Absolutely insane. I get that it’s Las Vegas, but wow. I can get sushi that’s just as good back home for a third of the price. Wow. I guess if you want to drop a lot of money Shibuya is a great place. Otherwise… no way.

Conclusion: decent albeit high-priced sushi and non-sushi items. They have an expansive menu(tempura, steak, etc.) which I believe comes at the expense of the sushi. Fantastic service– they’re at your beck and call, even gracefully changing out your chopsticks between sushi courses. Excellent sake selection and our server was very helpful and knowledgeable. I ordered around 12 pieces of nigiri sushi and most were good and a few flops. Again, very pricey sushi and unless you have an expense account or you poop money, I’d save your money.

Absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant… ever. You really have to know what to order. I recommend asking the servers here for suggestions. The 3 times I’ve been here, I was lucky enough not to have price be a factor in the food choice. I’ve tried toro cheek, oyster, uni, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi that was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I typically do not like Uni at all, but the selection here was so fresh and sweet — not fishy or salty tasting at all. Other favorites were Wagyu beef and this sweet glazed cod that was one of the most amazing cooked fish dishes I’ve ever had, period. We also tried uni fried rice and finished everything off with several dessert choices including mochi, a black sesame custard, and banana cream puffs. My family brought guests who had never dined here before and they absolutely raved about the meal. Our waiter also recommended a lovely sake to compliment the food that was wonderful — slightly sweet and not too dry. We finished off 2 bottles of it. Our entire dinner was a well orchestrated performance. Loved it. One caveat would be to realize that this place is not cheap… but I would hope the four $‘s next to the restaurant name would tip people off to that fact. The above meal for 9 people came out to around $ 6,000. We were all stuffed and it was probably a bit more food than we needed, but it was New Years. You would be hard pressed to find similar quality food elsewhere, so if you can afford it, it is worth it.

Overall an underwhelming experience. If we had only come for the wagyu, then perhaps dining here would have been a more enjoyable event. YAYs: (+) Wagyu beef. It’s the only thing worth ordering here for the price & one of the best foods I’ve had. Would come back to this restaurant for just this (+) service & ambiance. NAYs: (o) The rest of the food is definitely good but passable for the price point, speaking as someone who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. (-) The«rock-shrimp tempura» was basically a glorified Chinese honey-walnut shrimp dish. Note: Portions are modest to small, which is typical of Japanese cuisine

Enjoyed dinner with wife and daughter before watching KA. Favorites were rock shrimp tempura, chef“s choice tempura, and kinako tiramisu(reinvented and delicious). We also tried and loved the tentaka kuni sake… I would love to buy some for home! Shibuya roll and and Fish and Chips were both good, but not as stellar as the other items. Service was truly excellent, with all wait staff addressing me by name.

The food was great. We had the young chicken and Fish and chips. The Chip is a fried sweet potato and AMAZING! We also had the Dragon and Salmon/Avocado roll. Both were well made and very tasty. The only down side was the waiter, very short while at the table. However the buser was great! Always close by for refills. Side Note: portions are small and prices are not, but it’s nice to try something new.

Best meal I have had in Vegas – can’t wait to come back here! All six dishes we ordered were amazing but the wagyu and foie gras gyoza were absolutely mind blowing. The tuna sashimi with black truffle, arugula, Parmesan and puffed rice was my second favorite. We also had the short rib and foie gras, mushroom salad and the special sushi roll – I highly recommend everything. Enjoy with a lycheetini and some hot sake!

An exceptionally memorable dining experience that surpassed all other meals I have had in my lifetime! From the first step into Shibuya you are captivated by the sleek modern romanced ambiance! We were welcomed immediately being ushered to our night to remember! Aries, my most admired server I have yet had, made the night an unforgettable one with his simple ease, knowledge, and truly one of a kind personality! We started our night off with a bottle of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut that I highly recommend and paired perfectly with our Nine Course Chefs Tasting Menu! The Chefs Tasting Menu was a easy decision and something I had always wanted to experience! Where better than Shibuya! Dish One | Zensai: A single sexy fresh Oyster with Ponzu Sauce then Garnished with Scallions! A perfect palate starter that awakens your tastebuds! Dish Two | Raw: Hakkaido Scallop served Raw with Nasu and Jalapeño Ponzu! Soft-Buttery Deliciousness! First time having Raw Scallops and WOW my mouth is watering for more! Dish Three | Sashimi: Shibuya Style Salmon«Poke» with Avocado/Wasabi/Sesame Ginger Soy/Crispy Taro! Silky-Smooth with great texture and freshness! Dish Four | Tataki: Iberico Pork Tataki Garnished with Candied Mustard Seed and Apple Cider Ponzu! Beautiful on the Inside and Out! Seared Very Briefly then Marinated in Vinegar for a Bold Statement! Dish Five | Fish: Black Cod Miso with Spinach and Hajikami! This dish stole my heart with the first luscious bite! Cooked to Perfection with an intense flavor profile! My favorite! Dish Six | Meat: Australia Wagyu Skirt accompanied by fresh Kizami Wasbi Salsa! Grade A Beef/Tender and Succulent! Dish Seven | Sushi: Assortment of White Fish/Salmon/Yellowtail/Tuna! We also wanted to try Uni for the first time which they will graciously add any sushi bar assortments to your meal! Excellent knife work all being very refreshing! Dish Eight | Soup: Kyoto Miso Soup. Our least favorite dish as it was Extremely salty to the point we did not take more than one bite. So by this point we are Overindulged with all these decadent dishes and tell Aries not to bring out our last beloved Dessert Tasting. However, of course he knows we MUST try their peerless desserts to finish out our night and WOW I am so glad he did! Dish Nine | Dessert Tasting: Lychee Yogurt Parfait/Matcha Choux/Melon Mochi Ice Cream! Each Dessert Tasting was fantastic being the perfect conclusion to our meal! The most artistic meal that I have consumed made with so much detail, passion, and execution! Everything was over the top and most desired minus the Miso Soup. Our night could not have gone any smoother and with Aries taking care of us we felt like the only ones in the restaurant! All of Shibuya’s staff were outstanding and presented each dish to us with the name and contents! ~~Fall in Love with the Best of the Best; Shibuya!

This is some of the freshest & most delicious sushi I have ever had, and I have consumed a lot of sushi in my lifetime. The salmon nigiri was soft like butter & after consulting with the server confirmed that it was scottish which I wasn’t surprised by considering the color & flavor of the fish. We also ordered pepperfin which was melt in your mouth amazing along with the shibuya roll and edamame for appetizers. In terms of atmosphere & service this place also takes the cake as well. We went in with a big party of 15 and were seated right away. We had dinner here on a night when there was a big boxing match at the MGM but it was about to start so perhaps that’s why they weren’t too busy. Anyway, all of our food was out in a timely manner & the server was very attentive. The place also feels very vogue with the low lighting, vaulted ceilings and long sleek tables. For dress code I would say business casual definitely works although more to the business end of that definition. All in all this place was awesome & definitely somewhere I need to stop in to on all future trips to Vegas.

I’ve been here a couple of times while staying at the MGM Grand. Nice sushi/teppanyaki place. I’ve had teppanyaki once at this place and our chef was ok — no tricks or anything. I recommend sharing food for teppanyaki because it’s a lot of food if you order one protein per person especially if you’re also getting rice. I ordered scallops and got like 9 and ate like 4. The sushi is good — not NY good, but still pretty good. They have a delicious dangerous lychee martini on their cocktail menu that I love.

This place is amazing. It was so good we came here twice in 3 days and probable spent over $ 700.00 in food and beverages. There really isn’t a bad thing I can say about this place. The sushi was alright, but being from San Diego I am spoiled with really fresh sushi. This place is in a great spot if your in staying in the MGM and MGM signature. My buddies loved it because it was close to the crap tables. LOL The food was really good. The sushi rolls were prepared nicely and decent size. But the best thing on their menu that will blow your socks off is the pork belly roll and the black miso cod. Both are by far the best things on the menu. I was say the black miso cod was the best, but both are a must get. I didn’t think the cost was too pricey for a nice restaurant in Vegas. Nothing was over $ 40.00. and we got some good size portions for nice dinner. The reason we spend so much is we bought a lot of sake and lot of cod. We couldn’t get enough. The staff there was great. They were«Johnny on the spot» on clearing our dishes, refilling our drinks, and changing out silverware. The do a good job of spoiling you. One thing is you do need to make reservations because it does get a little busy, but its worth the wait.

I came here with my boyfriend and his family for a group of 12 of us for dinner while we were in Vegas a weekend in August. Because we had reservations we were seated immediately and were given the option of either ordering the chef’s special which was a pre-set menu from the chef with their most popular items and was priced per person accordingly OR we had the option of just ordering off the menu which was what we ended up doing. We ordered the miso soup which was pretty average in my opinion. The black cod miso was one of my favorites(broiled Alaska black cod with spinach and ginger root), the mushroom salad and berkshire pork belly(both solid 4⁄5 stars), and the salmon skin salad(ehh). We also ordered an assortment of roles which were probably my least favorite part of the meal as they tasted average with nothing special. Overall I’d say 3.5 bumped up to 4 because service was good and you are paying for the ambiance.

I am not big on Japanese food but I do enjoy it and this restaurant was great for gluten free and vegan people. Waiter was well versed in the items I could enjoy and what to avoid which was perfect. I had their cold tofu which was great and did not lack in flavor although being simple. It was far better than many of the places I’ve tried cold tofu at. I also had sautéed pumpkin and eggplant and it was seasoned well with great Tamari flavor. Highly recommend! Food was clean and fast and ambiance was wonderful with a lot of the Vegas glam and glitz. It does get busy towards the end of the night so make reservations for an earlier dinner and just hang out and order some sake.

This was our first time in Las Vegas and I told my lovely wife that I’d like hibachi for dinner on my birthday. She did a little research and found this place. We were able to make last minute reservations(around 7:30pm) for 10:00pm. Walking in to this MGM Grand restaurant, you know immediately it’s a pretty upscale environment. The host and hostess were dressed professionally to the T’s. They were very warm and welcoming. Once seated, we were greeted again by a very nice waiter. He went over the hibachi menu with us in very fine detail. I decided on the Jidori chicken breast and Hokkaido scallop combination. My wife chose the catch of the day which she was told was salmon. When the meats were brought out before they were supposed to be prepared on the grill, it was a striped sea bass. She was expecting salmon and when she spoke to the waiters, he said the other waiter who told us that was mistaken. However, in fine quality dining service fashion, the waiter and chef found her some salmon and allowed her to try the striped sea bass at no additional charge. Interestingly enough, she enjoyed the sea bass more. All of our sea food and chicken was delicious. Very well seasoned. Tasty as all! Here at Shibuya, the chef told us that unlike Benihanas they serve the entrée first so you don’t get full off of rice and vegetables first. That’s a good way to do it. But everything was fab. Another high point was that we ordered white rice and the couple next to us ordered fried rice. But to our delight the chef cooked too much and allowed us a whole. We were a bit disappointed that we didn’t choose fried rice first, but our sample portion was nearly as large as our original. When you come to Shibuya you’re going to spend. But you’re going to be happy about where every red penny went. Definitely coming back the next time I’m in Vegas.

This place is rock solid! Me and my wife were on our honeymoon from Houston and this was one of the restaurants we tried while staying in the casino. We ordered a couple hand rolls, tempura, and a roll. Food tasted fresh and the service was excellent. The restaurant has a really nice vibe and trendy look. A great spot for a romantic or relaxing dinner. Try this place out now!

Quality food with upscale ambiance — This is the second or maybe third time I’ve dined here so I thought to myself it’s finally time for a review. The atmosphere is beautiful, I refer to it as a modern forest. The service is always top notch. You can dine tepanyaki style or not. On the most recent trip my girlfriend and I chose this as its always fun. Chef sent over a complimentary bite of the tuna roll(it was ok). But I always appreciate touches like that! We had a lovely simple salad, mushroom miso soup, fried rice along with chicken, beef & tender scallops. The best of all worlds. All meals also come with dessert but unfortunately it was pretty mediocre and left me wanting a sweet ending bite of something else. There are several places in town that are significantly cheaper but they definitely don’t have the upscale atmosphere. Since my girlfriend always stays at the MGM we ended up here. Overall it was a pleasant experience and the food was very good. If you’re planning on dining in the casinos expect to pay a higher premium for everything.

My wedding reception was here on Friday, June 12, 2015. The meal was delicious and I appreciated how the chef at my table accommodated me with roasted garlic and extra fried rice. This was my third time eating here and it was fantastic as always. Most of these hibachi restaurants normally put on more of a show. All he did was spin his spatulas around a little. Part of my reasoning for having the meal here was for a small bit of entertainment for our guests. My only complaint is that the seating was way off and by the time my husband and I showed up all of our 20 guests had been cramped into a 16 seater table. I moved 5 of them over to the next table where my husband and I would also sit. The restaurant staff didn’t remove the extra chairs that kept the first table crowded so I started lifting them and moving them away myself. They saw this and stuff did not offer assistance. Really? I’m wearing a wedding dress. So a little more effort would have been nice, you loose a star for forgetting how to treat a lady.

Love Japanese food? This IS the spot! It is a more upscale, fine dining type of restaurant so the prices are a tad on the higher side but worth it. It’s filled with a mix of clientele. Some dressed up, some ready to go to the club and a couple more casual. The atmosphere is inviting and the décor is pretty traditional. This hands down my favorite spot for Japanese cuisine. Everytime I visit this restaurant I leave full, happy and 1000% satisified. Tonight we enjoyed dinner herend experienced our first teppan dinner here. My son had so much fun which is already something to be said. He didn’t touch his iPad once, and for those who have kids know that’s a big deal nowadays, especially when you are trying to enjoy a nice, upscale dinner. Our chef Loy & David were entertaining, fun and kept us smiling with laughter. Our server Aries & Ed were attentive and very friendly. They met our needs and made the visit extremely pleasant. We enjoyed a variety of wonderful food tonight: *Australian Kobe Beef — a very generous portion cooked so well it melts in your mouth, served with fried garlic slices *Lobster, shrimp & Crab — cooked in butter and other spices(not sure what they were) *Fried rice *Shishito peppers *Jalapeño Ponzu Yellowtail *spicy scallop hand roll *Salmon Sashimi(with toppings again not sure what exactly they were) *Salad with candied orange and lemon ponzu dressing *crab miso *Chocolate coconut mochi *Bananna cream puff with caramel and chocolate sauce(not sure of exact name) All of it was amazing. I can’t wait to go back!

This place is a second rate LA sushi spot at the usual, incredibly expensive Las Vegas prices. Salmon poke. $ 30 for four tiny slices cut so thin you could see through them? Makes you think the Salmon might not be the only one getting smoked. Rolls that aren’t tight and barely presented professionally, and sushi with fish that have a dull finish one only gets from lengthy refrigeration. For a place in the middle of a dark part of a large casino, with wait staff that are non-existent and leave your glass and bottles empty, your plates sitting in front of you waiting to be removed, and food that comes erratically and only when you have managed to somehow chase your AWOL waiter down — this is a pass for me. If the B grade sushi at A grade prices in a C class resort won’t piss you off, the D class service will. Seriously — at $ 250 per person, go the fuck elsewhere.
