Couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. Our server(Michael) helped us with suggestions from our sake choices to dining ways. Michael was extremely knowledgeable and kind(we arrived 45 mins before closing). We never felt rushed and felt as if he was enjoying the experience as much as we were lol Everything we ordered was phenomenal! It is tapas style and the portions are a little smaller… But the variety you can get is so fun. We started with the jalapeño octopus. It didn’t have a crazy heat. Very mild and flavorful. We then had a unagi and avocado roll, as well as the yellowfin roll. Both rolls were simple and packed with flavor. We finished with peaking duck tacos(which were my personal favorite and my first time having duck) as well as a beef noodle dish(unfortunately, the name is escaping me). Needless to say, I would absolutely go back again.

Get the Cappuccino for desert. No really. I know Japanese restaurant. Sushi. Inside Aria. Excellent presentation. Small pieces. Expensive. Tasty. Scallops in garlic. Lobster tempura roll. But really. We didn’t want desert, but they offered coffee. Latte. Cappuccino. Best I’ve had outside of North Beach in San Francisco. Really. Fantastic. Appreciated that it wasn’t crowded. Interesting ambiance.

I wanted to try this place while on a business trip to Las Vegas. It did not disappoint. The food tastes super fresh and is delicious. I had a variety of sushi and it was all extremely good. The flavors are subtle and exciting; service is excellent. A not-to-miss dish is the Kanpachi japlapeno potato julienne cold appetizer. It was phenomenal. I also had the Hamachi butsu wasabi appetizer and it was so yummy. I also had the sushi sampler plate and a side of shiso peppers. I was full, but couldn’t resist ordering dessert, especially when they said they had a rice crème brûlée — it was delectable. I had a cocktail to start, then had a cold sake with my dinner. I don’t understand all the bad reviews. The quality of the food here is amazing. I would definitely go back.

This place’s sushi and sashimi is probably as close as it gets to dining in Japan. We ordered Toro and caviar tartare which was so fresh and tasted amazing! Tai truffle which smelled sooo good and the taste matched the smell for sure! I ddin’t like the Uni risotto though, it was a bit bitter. Maybe uni and risotto wasn’t the best combination since when uni is heated, they can geta bit bitter if overcoked. The uni and shrimp roll was delicious though! Best leave Uni uncooked! The grilled quail looked bad but the taste was another story. perfect grilled flavor and tender and juicy inside! Perfect except for the look! The lobster miso soup was the best! the broth was very clear but the taste was rich in miso and lobster. If you’re asian, you would love this soup! The service was great. Highly recommended!

Dined here in a group of five on mostly sushi and some sashimi with a couple of drinks each for less than $ 500. If that is not your idea of indulgence on a trip to Vegas, then this is not a place for you. Everyone in our group, without exception, loved the food. None of us are connoisseurs but we know what we had last night — sushi that melts in your mouth in a delicious medley of flavors — is not something you come across often. The spicy tuna was the unanimous favorite. Bonnie, our server, made sure we ordered that dish and a couple of others that were devoured in no time. She was knowledgeable, cheerful and believed in the quality of the restaurant she’s been working in for six years — again a rare combination that made for a great experience. Quantity was enough to fill up five hungry guys in a comfortable way, without feeling stuffed. Would I dine here again — absolutely!

Like eating in an airline hanger, not great ambiance. Very expensive, which I knew going in, but expected it to be worth the price. Left cold, hungry and with a lot less money in my pocket than when I arrived. Sushi is at least twice the price and the smallest pieces I have ever seen. Perfect for the tiny mouth of my sushi loving 9 year old, if only I had brought her to enjoy her own $ 200 meal! It was like popping sushi gumdrops in your mouth. Seriously, $ 12 for miso?! Go to Nobu instead, it won’t be cheap, but you will feel satisfied when leaving. While nothing was bad, nothing was great either. We literally went to another restaurant afterwards to get more food. I gave it two stars, because I reserve 1 stars for really bad reviews, this one was just ok and very overpriced. Pass on Bar Masa.

Never, not even in my wildest dreams I thought I would give one star to a place where we spent $ 500 for a dinner for two. Never in my life I spent so much money for so little, mediocre food and was so hungry three hours later I had to stop somewhere else after the show to grab a snack. Maybe the fact we walked in with no reservation on a Friday night at 8pm and there were only three tables occupied should be a sign. But we wanted good sushi, so we ignored the red flag. Empty house on a Friday night in Vegas means something, and it means awful. To start, our server was unenthusiastic and said they did not offer Omakase. We were a bit puzzled when he left but then he stopped half way and turned around and said«well, depending on what you’re looking for, we can work something out for about $ 150/person». He sounded like a sketchy used car dealer. We were like«um, never mind, thanks». We ordered the small sashimi sample plate, small sushi sample plate and a steak dish. We asked him«is this enough for the two of us»? And he said«absolutely». When the food arrived our first reaction was«is this part 1? Where’s part 2?». Obviously we had to order another small sample plate, and a bunch of other stuff. For the grace of God, the only good thing we got was the jalapeño octopus. It had a lot of flavor and a great kick to it, awesome sauce we later used to dip our tasteless sushi in. Our server left without saying good bye(rude) and a new friendly and attentive server took over, praise The Lord. Her name is Bonnie. Bonnie was the only positive thing about our night. She was sweet, attentive, she listened well to our disappointment and was very apologetic. She said they get that complain quite often(that the portions were ridiculously small), which made us wonder why in the world don’t they do anything about it? Bonnie was awesome. I understand the concept of fine dining because I worked as a sommelier for a fine dining restaurant back in San Diego. I understand that they dont serve huge portions and I get that sushi is a delicate art, therefore the quality is more important than the quantity. But when you drop $ 80 on a plate with 5 tiny slices of fish you really expect something mind blowing out of it. Leaving a restaurant still hungry after ordering more than 6 items when this is not a tapas place is simply unacceptable. $ 570 later(6 items and a bottle of unfiltered sake plus tip), we headed to our show. Feeling like the two most stupid people on earth for getting so ripped-off. I will never be back again.

The menu is so expensive. A normal $ 3 bowl of miso soup is $ 12+ here. $ 150 later we were full here. The eel roll was not very good but the beef udon was delicious. I wouldn’t return though. The lemon water tasted funny. Each item on the menu is at least $ 18 alone but usually more. A typical $ 5 roll elsewhere is $ 20 here and not worth it taste wise. I was pretty disappointed since I love sushi and ended up ordering udon because the sushi wasn’t good. I think the miso is cooked with mushrooms and possibly lobster so it’s very fishy and has an odd taste to it I didn’t like. The service was great but the busser was insanely hard to understand his thick accent when he would talk to us and he always did so with his head down. He was good at his job but not personable and had a lot of contact with us so that made it hard. I wouldn’t return here, I’d like to try a place that can’t go wrong for that price.

Bar Masa is an enigma to me. Very fresh seafood in the middle of the desert. Coming from an island in the middle of the Paciic and being a lover of seafood, I can say I was served very fresh products here. Toro Tartare Caviar-Served with toast points. A very simple, but elegant dish that is so transparent if the ingredients are not of the freshest quality, it would blare out at you. Wonderful toro tartare topped with Osetra caviar. If you need more flavor, soy sauce and wasabi are always available. Seared Beef Tataki with Summer Truffle-Beef and truffle shaved thin. The truffle was too subtle for me. I did not get the earthy, musky? taste I was expecting from the truffle. I thought the dish would be a lot heartier, but it was very dainty. Paying extra for the truffle was not worthwhile. Yellow Tail Collar-Grilled perfection. Hamachi Kama is one of those foods that you wonder if you ought to pay a premium for. Granted this was the most expensive I’ve ever paid, it was also the best one i’ve ever eaten. Assorted Sushi-Just the right size. I don’t have a big mouth(contrary to some people’s opinions) so the sushi were perfectly sized. If you are unfamiliar with the eating of sushi, they are supposed to be eaten in one mouthful. The rice was cooked perfectly and sushi construction was expertly done. We had a spicy maguro roll(not very spicy), amaebi, uni, and king crab(for the wife). Seafood and Vegetable Tempura-Delicate batter, fried to light crispiness. You only get one of each thing(except you get 2 shrimp) so if you want to share, you better be really intimate with that person. This is Vegas, baby, so you are going to pay extra. That means nothing here is worth it, but you gotta eat. Do you think if we complain enough, Las Vegas Strip restaurants will lower their prices? Food service and water service was excellent. Seating and décor was not very special. Anyway, we enjoyed our meal very much as long as we didn’t think about the cost.

Do yourself a favor and read the reviews for the other Bar Masa listing on Unilocal.Ask yourself when was the last time you saw a high priced Japanese restaurant with so many poor ratings. And all those poor ratings are absolutely true. Don’t bother eating here. The prices are outrageous for what you receive. The service is terrible and not as you would expect for an expensive so called high class restaurant. It’s not like it would be considered a place to go on a date or a place to go for a high class meal. This restaurant is about as fancy as the Aria Café. Go eat at the café. You’ll be much happier. I can’t believe they let people eat their dinner here in shorts and a tank top. Where is the dress code? Go to Mastros down the hall. Anyone who has rated this place as five star on Unilocal has likely never enjoyed dinner at a fancy restaurant.

I had an outstanding meal here Monday evening. sushi was some of the best I have had very fresh and full of flavor. Try the Salmon and Eel rolls they are both outstanding. I also had the fried chicken which was excellent as was the duck fried rice. A special shout out to my server Michael he did an outstanding job. He was friendly, attentive and extremely knowlwdgeable about every component of the menu A++++.

Enjoyed an exceptional dinner here. We had a concert later in the evening so we were dining pretty early on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail and enjoyed our service there so much we decided to just stay there instead of being seated at a table. The bartender Tommy was gracious and gave us excellent recommendations. I cannot recall the name of my cocktail but it was rum and yuzu with something spicy on top — it was probably the best cocktail I have ever had. We tried a variety of dishes based on the recommendations from the bartender and they were exceptional. The standouts were the octopus and jalapeño sizzling plate, the toro handrolls, and the tai truffle. The beef udon noodles were also really satisfying. I would say it is pretty typical upscale Vegas pricing, which is high. But when you have excellent food and service you just don’t mind. The fish was so fresh tasting and truly was the star of the raw dishes. There was great thought to texture and flavors that didn’t distract from the fish and only enhanced each bite. It really was an exceptionally enjoyable meal.

Literally the worst food I have ever eaten! I paid $ 140 for dry, tasteless shrimp and a sliced cucumber with olive oil on it. The service was terrible! I saw my server three times, once when I ordered, once when I got my slop, and once when he dumped the check in my lap. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy! NEVER eat here!!!

I was beyond myself excited to visit this restaurant because on the flight to Vegas, I was reading Neil Patrick Harris’ biography and he said this restaurant is so good that fish fall in line to die and be served here. NPH does not lie. The person who sets the tone the most at any restaurant is your server and I had never in my life met a server who spoke as passionately about food as this one did. She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu items(necessary as there are no descriptions in the menu). Everything that comes into the restaurant is caught within 24 hours and you can definitely taste the freshness in the food. While the portions are small the flavors are big so I can confidently say that I enjoyed my experience at Masa.

I give it 4 stars because we arrived at 9:30 on A Saturday night and they said we could not seat at the bar, which seemed a little strange. The place is beautiful, clean, very interesting design! The fish was fresh and our server was very polite and sweet.

Food is absolutely to die for. Try the beef skewers. Atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. Our waitress Bonnie was on point and made us feel overly taken care of. We come every time we come to Vegas for conventions, it just gets better every time.

We stayed at the Aria for the weekend and dined at Bar Masa twice during our stay. We sat at the bar at Jeff served us. He was such a great server. My husband and I could talk to him for hours. The food was delish. Well worth the price for people who really know what good sushi tastes like.

It was the end of our weekend anniversary celebration at the Aria, and my husband and I decided we would celebrate with a special night out at Bar Masa. We were looking forward to elegantly prepared Japanese dishes and sushi prepared with fresh buttery fish and fresh chilled shellfish. We knew it would be pricey but we were willing to splurge on a special evening out. All we can say is, «What a disappointment.» Not only was the quality of the fish and shellfish mediocre, but the rice was hard and overly seasoned. The sashimi wasn’t served at the right temperature. The eggplant was dry and hard and was not very flavorful. My husband’s only comment was that his 80 year old Japanese aunt could cook better than that. Not only did we find the food quality to be disappointing, the service was mediocre as well. For a high-end restaurant and the $$$$ price, our advice would be to select a different Japanese restaurant in Las Vegas for a better dining experience.
