Tacos Gil is stationed in the parking lot of Veterans Village thrift store– if it’s dark outside, then they’re probably out there. As with many a taco truck, it’s hit or miss whether you’ll get someone who speaks English, but if you can name the food you want you’re usually good. Cash only, as far as I know. They’re famous for their tripas tacos, and they’re good. Have tried a handful of their different tacos, and once had a bad experience with them tasting funny– as if whoever was manning the grill had used a ton of lighter fluid, and the tacos that day had a nasty chemical taste to them. But more often than not, their burritos rock. I always mean to try a lengua burrito, but I end up going for their tripas or carne asada. Their corn tortillas also are quite amazing, and they don’t skimp on the onions or the cilantro at all.
