I’ve been going here for a few years now and have never had a bad experience until now. The staff was great as always, but the sushi was just disappointing. The mussels seemed to be undercooked and the yellowtail nigiri I got was really fishy smelling. Not good. I started gagging towards the end when I was eating my last piece of yellowtail. Don’t think I’ll be going here again.

Yama is great, but like many sushi places, their space just doesn’t meet the demand of the customer flow. I understand they can’t do much about this, but it’s the only reason I can’t give it 4 stars :/However, the food is phenomenal and I have two words for anyone ready to try this place: Seafood salad. Get it. Love it. Thank me later.

Worst ayce sushi I ever had — from rice, soy sauce, to fish. Most likely will never come back.

Four of us went to Yama Sushi last night and we had a very good experience. Like others have said, the sushi seems fresher and more flavorful than other AYCE sushi places. They have a lot of unique rolls and we enjoyed all of them. My boyfriend especially liked the shrimp lover’s roll and I liked kiss the ass. The thing I really liked about Yama is the service. I feel like a lot of AYCE places try to slow you down by not checking on you often. Here, however, we were usually the ones not ready to reorder as our waiter kept coming around to see if we wanted more items. They were also very good about refilling the soda and water. Despite the fact that they always have a line, you never feel like they are rushing you out and I appreciate that. I’ve heard so many good things about them, but they were always so busy that I didn’t get to eat here. I’m glad we came for a few birthday celebrations and I can say I agree with the majority of the reviews that say it’s worth the wait!

I’ve been to this sushi place a few times now, and I always love that they have the Salmon Kama as part of AYCE. It’s so great! You get such a big amount of salmon that’s grilled and it’s just a great amount. Such a great deal for only $ 20 during lunch. The service is never that amazing whenever I come here but this time it was even worse. The restaurant wasn’t super busy since it was at around 4pm which is an odd time. But that didn’t stop them from forgetting some of our orders even though we asked repeatedly where it was. My friend was also not happy that they basically drowned her half orders of the Kai roll and the Striptease roll with their eel sauce. It made her rolls super soggy and the sauce overpowered everything. Still forever coming back for that Salmon Kama though.

I been to Yama Sushi a couple of times when I came to Las Vegas a few times and back then I was an amateur sushi fan. I was only into the fried types of sushi rolls but now I gained my love for nigiris and decided to eat at the AYCE menu. It’s $ 27 per person for dinner so we decided to take advantage of that so we ordered a lot of nigiris right of the bat. And man they were so fresh. Since we were sat at the sushi bar we got enough attention from the sushi chef, which was a good thing because you want your food to be there faster. Plus he was also very helpful. I tried Uni for the first time ever and I thought it was okay. Not my favorite sushi but it’s decent. I think it’s safe to say that this place is my favorite AYCE sushi restaurant and def will be back next time I come back to town.

Amazing place… but there is something about Asian servers and customer service… its like water and oil… too bad: I guess their food can just served by it self… over all it is delicious and for sure its a «let’s do it again»

Came here on a Saturday night at 7:30ish. The wait wasn’t that bad, approximately 20 min for a table for 5. The server was very nice, helpful, and patient. They don’t wear name tags, very odd, they wear numbers. Our server was number 6. We spent approximately one hour with all you can eat. Our food came out very quickly. The food tasted good. Kinda heavy in the rice. And dishes that contains cream cheese was flooded with it. Happy ending and seafood salad were my favorites.

Don’t eat here. I almost died of a heart attack when I pointed out a COCKROACH to the waiter and he said it was a normal thing to see in their restaurant. Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach! Cockroach!

This place is always busy. Be prepared to wait if you are coming for lunch around 12pm or dinner at 5pm. If you are with a party of two or three the sushi bar is most likely to come available more quickly. Because it is so busy, service suffers as they are overwhelmed and understaffed. Most waitresses/waiters(except the two brothers) are hard to understand. You might want to check up on orders after some time has passed, as in previous visits they have forgotten to put in my order. This isn’t my favorite AYCE sushi restaurant in town but I do not have have anything against it and would put it in my top 6AYCE sushi restaurants in town. The fish isn’t as fresh but paying $ 21 for AYCE lunch and $ 27 for AYCE dinner, you get what you are paying for. *If you like Yama, you will love Sushi Goyemon!(Try it out)*

I love sushi and what I love even more than sushi is a big serving size. I am never disappointed at Yama Sushi cause their serving sizes are big enough. I have been at this restaurant a couple times. They do have some nice selection of rolls but what they have is decent. I have one complaint that they don’t remove or add things from the ingredients shown on the menu. This restaurant is always crowded making service a little slow at times and that makes me a little nervous. If you wanna have delicious sushi, there are many other Japanese restaurants in Las Vegas.

I found the his restaurant on Unilocal because it has a good rating and all you can eat. Food is so so. Not as good as we expected. Fishes were not fresh and we got stomach upset afterward. Waitress were nice

What I like about Yama: They serve full-size appetizers when you do AYCE(6 gyoza, 4 shrimp tempura, etc.) while most other places in town do half size appetizers. Not a huge plus because you can always get multiple orders of most appetizers. On the flip side, I also like that there’s a half size options for most rolls so you can try a lot of things. There was ONE server out of 5 we interacted with who was friendly and attentive. She was great! Price for AYCE is great(I think $ 21 for lunch and $ 23 for dinner). What I dislike about Yama: The other four of the 5 servers who were rude, disregarded items we ordered, requests for water, napkins, menus, etc. Each request was met with either no acknowledgment, or a fake quick smile before the server would take off and never bring what we asked for. The sushi chefs are apparently amateurs because none of the rolls were cut anywhere close to evenly. One piece could be 0.5″ thick while another in the same roll was 1.5″ thick. The rice they used for sushi rolls was really mushy to where on the side of a roll, it didn’t even look like grains of rice — just a smooth white surface. Rolls were hard to chew and swallow because they were really, really not enjoyable to eat. Flavor was good, but texture is also so important to sushi! If you’re in the mood for AYCE, I recommend a few places far above Yama in quality and experience — JJANGA, Sakana, Umiya, and Kaizen(on Deer Springs; the one on Paradise isn’t AYCE).

Unilocal… And« Unilocalers», you didn’t let me down on this suggestion. As we were watching the show at Fremont Street(ok, kinda cheesy, but I had a Vegas newbie with me), we decided on sushi for dinner. Many many places on and off the strip to choose from, but we were hungry! Love Nobu and all, but we wanted to do some serious eating. Read the reviews, so we chose Yama. Close enough to both the«Strip» AND downtown Plenty of parking Crowded, but we were seated right away «All you can eat» is pretty simple: $ 20.?? for lunch, $ 23.?? for dinner Make sure you eat everything(no leaving rice from the nigiri), and no leftovers, and this will be truly all-u-can-eat! Fresh tasting assorted rolls, nigiri, noodles… All were excellent! Our favorite was the Spicy Sexy Roll. Soooo spicy AND flavorful! Awesome named rolls, awesome service, and incredibly tasty sushi. I am still amazed at the quality. My new go to place in Vegas. Thanks Yama!

I haven’t been to Yama in years so today I decided to have my post workout meal here. I was excited for the«sun of the beach» roll. While I was waiting for my food I felt something land on my head. At first, I thought someone threw something at me but it was a COCKROACH! From the ceiling to my head onto my table. I was so disgusted. Other customers saw it too and were regretting dining here. Manager was apologetic but didn’t do anything for me. If I was in his shoes. I would’ve comped the meal. It’s been so long since I’ve dined here and this is what I been missing?!? No thanks. Never again.

Decided to try a Japanese buffet in vegas, as buffets on the strip has sky rocketing prices for mediocre food now a days. I looked up many different ayce restaurants, and decided to pick the one with over 1000+ reviews for our first ayce Japanese buffet in vegas. Arrived at around 8:30 and it was packed, we had to wait, but it wasn’t long since we elected to sit at the sushi bar if it became available. And I’m so glad we did that. I’m used to Toronto Japanese buffets where you order everything all at once. It was a different vibe here. We sat down, and the sushi chef was making sushi and just asked what we would like. So I literally just listed a couple of nigiri(uni, sweet shrimp, ikura, giant clam). Jose was the sushi chef and he acknowledged my order while making other rolls for other people. He didn’t write anything down. And in 5 minutes he created the masterpiece! Just like other Unilocalers said, the sashimi salad is a must get! Lots of sashimi, crunchy radish straws, a shrimp tempura in a nice vinaigrette. We got it mild and it was perfect with a touch of spice. The uni didn’t have too much flavour, but the ikura were huge and explodes in your mouth when putting the piece into your mouth. The giant clam, I didn’t know what made it so pricey and premium. The sweet shrimp didn’t come with rice and came with the shrimp heads fried. We tried some half rolls, we wanted to try many things, but was getting full from the rice. Had a palm job hand roll and that was really good. Ordered the Hamachi kama and it was a little over cooked. They forgot our order so I had to ask them twice to check up on it. It finally came after 30 minutes piping hot, so maybe that’s why it was over cooked. Had a strawberry and mango mochi along with a scoop of red bean, green tea and plum ice cream. I’ve never had plum ice cream before but it was really good! Very much enjoyed my experience here, definitely different from Toronto in the selection of foods. They don’t offer too many cooked foods from the kitchen, but are more geared towards specialty rolls and nigiri.

Stopped in for a quick, very quick, lunch roll last week since I was in the area. This took me back to college years because I haven’t dined here since UNLV days about 6 years ago. Everything looked exactly the same, the picture of a perfect neighborhood sushi bar, just larger than I remember with the side room(was that there before?) The host was kind to seat me quickly at the sushi bar, and a server appeared as soon as I sat down. Nice! I ordered the Kiss My Ass roll, in the mood for something really spicy. It was, well, oversauced. Way too much sauce. The menu read hot pepper sauce, this was tangy, creamy, very little spice and it needed a little sweetness. The shrimp inside were Tender and flavorful. Shrimp tempura with spicy tuna & hot pepper sauce, sounded promising for spice but for that creamy(gag) sauce all over the place… A couple quick shots of sake to forget about that sauce, the server was quick with the check, and that was it– I was outta there, likely for the last time. The service was good, but I really couldn’t stomach the thought of another roll. If ever I find myself back here, I’d stick with basics or sashimi, as their fish looked nice, and I would order all sauces on the side. It’s a 2 ½ for service and the tender flavorful shrimp. But I really wouldn’t venture out of my way for Yama.

Despite how busy they are, the wait goes quick and orders come out fast– sit at the bar for the quickest experience. Pricing is on par with most other AYCE sushi spots in vegas, and the fish was mostly fresh. Definitely start with the seafood salad! Nigiri was okay– scallop tasted like it had gone bad, garlic tuna did not taste like garlic at all. The rolls had too many sauces, and too much of them for my liking, but I do like that you can order by the half-roll. The Son of the Beach, Oh My Harry, and Ellen rolls(ordered based on multiple mentions in reviews) didn’t blow my mind like some people claimed they would. The Palm Job hand roll was decent, wish they had a few more special hand rolls. Avoid the plum ice cream for dessert– tasted super artificial, more like bubblegum than any fruit flavor. Service was initially pretty quick sitting at the bar, then the sushi chef started forgetting items. I don’t know if the rolls are generally oversauced or if it was just the guy making them for us. Not a place I’d go out of my way to return to, but not bad for the area.

Superb AYCE! And I am talking nigiri sushi, not the Americanized rolls. The fish are always bigger than the rice, and tastes pretty fresh. Well, as fresh as you could get in the middle of desert anyway. This place have a good spread of selections — salmon, white tuna, albacore, red snapper, mackerel etc so you can explore the distinct taste of different fish. They also have uni(sea urchin) and sweet shrimp(raw body with tempura head, which is kind of creepy but delicious) but we get only one order each. With many other varieties, this doesn’t bother much. If you are almost full and want to avoid rice, you can get the seafood salad. It’s several type of raw fish cut in large cubes drenched in sweet and sour sauce. It’s delicous! One serving can get you pretty filled up. For me, this is the highlight of this AYCE. Dinner AYCE is 23.95 and must be eaten within 2 hours. If you are like me, that is plenty of time to slowly devour your catch while sharing few earth-shattering gossips at the table. The place is always crowded, but it only took me 5 – 10 minutes to get table. I sit at the sushi bar, so it was easy to order directly to the sushi master. One comment though, the sushi masters are all non-friendly. They look fierce so ordering was like a student asking for a toilet break. With the price and quality of sushi, I will totally come again.

Came here for my third time while in Vegas. There is always a wait but luckily when we arrived it was only 20 mins. Our party of 4 ordered all types of rolls, green muscles and sushi. I can’t remember the names of all the rolls we ordered but I do know the rolls here have weird ass names. All of our food came out fast! The cool thing is you can order half rolls here. A must try is the seafood salad! It’s huge and very tasty. I got it spicy. Unfortunately, I ordered it after eating tons of rolls. If I had ordered it first, I probably would have ordered 3 of them! So good! Dessert is also included: ice cream or mochi! The red bean and mango mochi was very good. Highly recommended this place.
