The Pilates Principle

Nuhar and her team at the Pilates Principle are absolutely fabulous. If you’re looking for a great work out in a gorgeous setting with super knowledgeable instructors that will help make you long and lean, head directly to the Pilates Principle and sign up for a private lesson or a class. If you’re new to Pilates, I’d really recommend starting off with a couple of private lessons first as the instructors will be best able to start you off with a great foundation in the one-​on-​one setting. After that, you’re good to go with either private lessons and/​or classes. Also, Pilates Principle has a great little shop that sells wonderful work out apparel and more.

This pilates studio is relaxing and gorgeous. All the instructors I’ve had here are so nice, knowledgeable, and always willing to help you. I really love this place and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in trying pilates.

I went here to try a new kind of class. The bathrooms were clean, the studio smelled good, and the floors felt nice to walk on (things that really influence a studio and yet people don’t often review). I liked my teacher and had a nice experience. I was able to do some of the exercises although not all of them, and I didn’t feel judged. I’d go back. Thanks!

This studio is BEAUTIFUL. It’s nicely decorated. I took an Intermediate Tower class, where you lay on a fat, thick mat and use the arm and leg pulleys to do a variety of exercises. It was extremely challenging and my muscles shook a lot, but very fun. The teacher gave lots of attention to all of us and must have given me 100 adjustments. It’s a little expensive — $ 25 per class — but worth it. I’d love to go back for a private lesson on the other machines in the other room.
They also have a massage therapy place across the hall, a brand new gyrotechnics studio upstairs, and a beauty salon next door. It’s heaven on earth, basically.

So I didn’t take a Pilates or gyrokensis class here, but I did attend a gong bath. The gong bath was amazing (I can’t really describe it other than I had a noticeable physical response to those giant sound waves and lost all concept of time). The space is amazing. I was fixated by the light fixtures, including the Tanqueray10 lamp. The people were friendly and efficient. I’ve been told they are going to try an host a gong bath once a month on the first Friday of each month.
And Nick P. was an awesome host.

I’ve tried the other Yoga studios in the area, but nothing compares to the Ashtanga classes offered by Leslie. The movements themselves are the standard warrior series alongside stretching and balancing postures. For beginners to intermediate Yoga practitioners, they would find this difficulty perfect. Though, some more advanced followers may be left underwhelmed.
However, it is not the actual movements that make Leslie’s class worthwhile, but instead Leslie herself. I have not met an instructor that seemed to so vividly, deeply, and outwardly care for her students. Leslie has a real talent for making one feel comfortable and welcomed even on his first day.
Furthermore, she personally attends to each students posture with small correcting adjustments on nearly every move. Finally, at the end, you are rewarded with a light muscle stretch and massage as you relax into meditation.
I haven’t been to a Yoga class like it. If the rest of the Pilates Principle follows Laura’s standard, I strongly give them my thanks for existing and my personal recommendation to those who haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting.
