They are very friendly. I do not enjoy sushi/Japanese, so this is about the Chinese. The fried dumplings are very tasty. The crab Rangoon leaves a bit to be desired. Thick wonton wrapper and bland. The Singapore mei fun is my daughters fave. Very good. I have had the sesame chicken and roast pork egg foo young. Both are of good taste. The price is only slightly higher than my local Chinese delivery. Nice quiet environment.

Good decent Chinese food here in Albany! Good popular menu items at very good prices. I didn’t think the servings were as large as some others have posted. Had the shrimp with garlic sauce, and it was mostly bell peppers and onions. The fried rice is a huge plate of rice and looked great, but it didn’t have as much shrimp as I would have expected. But overall, I feel good to have found good fresh Chinese food, and I don’t really want so much that I can’t finish as the hotels I stay at during the work week don’t have refrigerators. Good American popular Chinese food, as in more selections than Panda and as popular great, at very good prices at just right portions.

When I first got to the restaurant I detected a slight aroma of fish. Not something I like to smell when I enter a sushi establishment. However I went in anyway. When I ordered cold saki, they only had the one kind and it was served luke warm, not cold. Despite them charging $ 8 for it. As for the sushi, while pricey, it was not good. The salmon was slimey, gummy, and fishy smelling. There were also these brown specks on it. When I told the waitress about the food she demanded that it was fresh. Then when she brought me the bill she said again, she checked and it was fresh. I don’t agree. I eat sushi often and know what good salmon sushi(my personal favorite by the way) tastes like. That was not it. I will not be making a return visit to this establishment and I don’t recommend that you do either.

Nice décor. Average to slightly below average Chinese food. Nothing unique or horrible restaurant. This is corner store Chinese food but you can sit down. If you want a nice dining experience with some unique acceptional Chinese food check out plum blossom.

Several years ago my daughters and I discovered this restaurant by accident and decided to check it out. We’ve been back several times, including lunch yesterday. Their tempura dishes are fresh, lightly fried and delicious, especially with the dipping sauce and comes with white rice that is always a fresh and perfect texture, never sticky. A luncheon tempura special is available til 3 pm and includes a salad with delicious ginger dressing and a cup of miso soup. At just $ 6 for the vegetables version it’s a bargain. The chicken is just $ 1 more and includes vegetables too. I’ve had other dishes there, mostly the Chinese vegetarian cuisine, but I’m a sucker for good vegetarian tempura. Several fresh large broccoli florets, squash and green beans in a delicate batter and flash fried to a non greasy deliciousness! Service is excellent too.

The only thing I liked about this place was the décor. It was very pretty and it’s quaint. We went on a Tuesday afternoon around 1 pm. There was a sign on the door advertising a lunch buffet special for 5.99 per person. When we walked in we saw a small buffet of about 10 items. We went to order it and the server told us it was more. We asked about the sign and she said it used to be that amount but not anymore. We ordered it anyway and when we got it we found that most of it was not even warm and none was hot. My friend mentioned it to another employee and he said to «get it from the bottom» which by the way was not possible because they were mostly gone. We were there for close to an hour and nobody refilled any of it with fresh food.

Hands down the BEST Chinese/Japanese restaurant that I have come across since living in New York. The amount of food os ridiculous. We ordered 8 plates of food and 5 drinks for $ 73 The service is quick and very efficient. Granted they weren’t very busy. A couple tables were taken and they did have some take out pick ups but this is our second time here and it was the same last time too. Just not busy. In any case, its 20 min from our house and there are at LEAST10 other closer Chinese cuisine places but I will take the ride. SOWORTHIT!

It’s okay here, nothing to rave about. Sushi isn’t the best. You rather order kitchen food. Even that isn’t that great. During Dinner time they are completely dead. I think they are surviving from the lunch time. They are lucky they are the only Asian restuarant near all those business buildings. I’m only ordering take out again because of the blizzard we have today & they are the closes Asian restaurant to where I live.

Food was decent. It was fresh. I liked the chicken wings, my son didn’t. Oddly enough, no chicken fingers on the menu. I realize that is a strictly American version Chinese appetizer, but it’s not like this place is a really high end place, so that was odd. Maybe it’s a Upstate NY thing… like the fried rice, which while good, isn’t really fried. It’s yellow rice. I’m from New England, and I guess there are certain things you just get used to from regional Chinese places. Regional Chinese commentary aside, I will go back here. The food was better than buffet quality and it’s pretty close to where I live.

I realize the«Chinese» Fortune Cookie is a wholly American invention, but it’s become more than a tradition for Americanized Chinese food, it’s become an expectation. Most particularly with takeout. And let me tell you, if you order Chinese takeout, and you have kids, and you come home with NOFORTUNECOOKIES that may just about do it for the fried bean curd or kung pao chicken experiments. I’m pretty sure after the omission tonight my kids will be talking about the incident to their therapists in a few decades. Anyhooo. Xin Fu: Very courteous and quick service. Relatively cheap, as this type of menu goes. Very fast delivery from the kitchen. Nice, if unremarkable interior with the aquarium and the TVs on but not too loud and carpeting. They do everything pretty well except the food, and there’s the rub. Some waggish foodie once warned me that a Chinese-Japanese restaurant serving food in America will invariably taste like it’s been floating in the Great Pacific Garbage patch for a few weeks before being served, being neither here nor there, as the cuisines in their native forms aren’t really that close to one another. There were some interesting stabs at ingredients: wood ears, real water chestnuts, etc.; but they were canceled out and then some by some odd choices(kirin as the cooking sauce for ‘crispy’ green beans? celery sliced long instead of bamboo shoots?) and some indifferent preparation(perhaps three, or four, black beans were found in the Beef with Black Beans; the Szechuan Chicken accompanied by green peppers(!) which had been cooked to the point of being gray and rather limp. Oddly, the gyoza were more in the Japanese style than the Chinese, and were decent, as was the Ameri-standard egg roll. Maybe it was the lack of a Fortune Cookie to inject the appropriate satiating chemical substances at the end of our last stab(of three visits) at Xin Fu, but rather stereotypically, I was left hungry at the end of the meal, not because of any mysterious preparation, but because it was not tasty enough for me to want to finish it. And thus all around the table agreed. Here’s a fortune: you will try a new Chinese restaurant in the near future, and it will not be Xin Fu. I lay a weak three stars here because as I noted, they were flawless except for the little fact that the food was not tasty.

As far a Chinese Restaurants go, this one is my favorite. The food is tastier and made better than the usual Chinese. We usually order to go so i cannot comment on the table service. We never had any complaints about the food, Chinese or sushi. I would and have recommended this place to friends.

The two of us arrived around 7:30 on Friday evening for dinner. The place was essentially empty– one couple just finishing their meal. We order appetizers(dumplings and miso soup). Both were delicious. Our server was at first efficient and prompt. Our dinner order– two different kinds of rolls– were sitting on the counter waiting to be delivered. We saw them there and the server realized she had been too busy chatting to remember to bring our meal. The rolls were very tasty and plentiful. The wasabi was very mild, a bit of a disappointment. Throughout our stay, numerous walk-ins seeking take-out arrived, which may have overwhelmed the few staff that were there. All in all, the food was fine. We may choose take out in the future as the service is intermittent.

I work nearby, so I sometimes get take out from here. They use Mealeo, which is a nice bonus. I ordered the Yakitori, avocado salad and egg drop soup. They called me to let me know they didn’t have yakitori(sad — who doesn’t love meat on a stick?) but were wiling to supplement a tuna roll. Sounds good to me. The food is standard americanized chinese/japanese fare. It’s not bad. There are better places in the area to go, but the staff is friendly and the food is okay.

First visit to this place, and I will definitely be back. I visited on a Tuesday evening, so service was pretty much a non-issue. Everything arrived punctually; the appetizer actually came out faster than I expected. I ordered the Albacore Sashimi appetizer. The portion was nice and large(as I would have expected with the $ 10 price tag). The fish was sliced into long pieces; the texture and taste were very good, and they came with a sweet sesame sauce. For my entrée, I chose the Crispy Spicy Shredded Beef. Behind General Tso’s Chicken, this is my «go-to» Chinese-food dish. I’ve had it a lot. This is the best I’ve had. The spiciness level was perfect — hot enough that my nose was running a little by the end of the meal, but not so hot as to be distracting. The sauce was delicious — tangy and sweet. The pieces of beef themselves were amazingly tender. So often this dish is ruined by cheap, stringy, overcooked beef; not the case here! The beef was perfectly cooked and deliciously tender; the chunks were tossed with scallions, sprouts, and carrots. All in all, a very good experience — I’m impressed and will return!

I love this place! I’m a regular here and the service and food are excellent. The waitresses and waiters are always quick and polite. Xin Fu has both sushi and Chinese cuisine. The portions are more than enough for the price you pay, especially the Chinese food. Their General Tso’s Chicken and the Moo shu pork are great(although the moo shu pork is a bit salty). I usually order the Cancun roll(it’s mild/medium) and the spicy salmon, which are amazing too. The fish is fresh and delicious!

I really enjoyed my experience here. There weren’t a lot of people in the place so I hope that it stays open. The service was incredible, our waitress was attentive, and very polite. The sushi came out very quickly, as did my miso soup. The sushi was absolutely delicious, I got the spicy rolls, and the boston rolls both of which were very good and a good size. They gave you lots of ginger, and wasabi. The miso soup was also very good. next time I have a sushi craving I’ll absolutely be coming back here. Prices were also very good, 8 rolls, miso soup, and a diet coke only cost me 15 dollars. Oh yeah I’ll take that.

We were in a hurry looking for something to eat. We were either going to Subway or Xin Fu. We decided on Xin Fu and we’re very glad we did. We showed up with 7 people and they were very hospitable. We placed our orders and although we thought they were expensive, you get what you pay for. Their rolls come in sets of 8 or so and they taste great. They were super nice to us, because they also gave us some free sushi appetizers. We will definitely be back there soon maybe for lunch because it is cheaper.

Xin Fu recently opened up in Latham on Route 7 near the old Bowlers Club, next door to Subway, which is surrounded by office buildings. Xin Fu is owned and operated by the same owners of Capital Buffet. The atmosphere inside is clean which is fully carpeted with sushi bar(2 TVs), booths, tables and artful décor on the walls. There’s also a small dining room in the front corner. The place was steady around noontime with both dine-in and takeout customers. The menu offers mostly Japanese food including teriyaki, tempura, udon, soba, bento box, sushi, and sashimi. Many Japanese menu items come with soup & salad. The regular menu prices seem a bit high, udon($ 14-$ 17), beef teriyaki($ 18), shrimp tempura($ 18), and bento box($ 22). However, the lunch prices are very fair. 10 Chinese lunch & combination specials are offered for $ 5.95& $ 6.95. 18 Japanese Lunch Specials are offered for $ 7-$ 12. I stopped in here for lunch to take advantage of the lower prices. I was seated at a nice booth and offered ice water and I also asked for hot tea(complementary). I ended up ordering 2 lunch specials, one off the Chinese menu and the other off the Japanese menu. I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice($ 5.95) and the Tonkatsu($ 8) served with white rice, plus soup & salad which was brought out first. The salad had mixed lettuce with a tasty ginger dressing and the miso soup had tofu & seaweed in a nice chicken broth. The two entrees arrived quickly. The Shrimp Lo Mein and Pork Fried Rice were pretty good, plenty of shrimp and fresh vegetables, very light. The Tonkatsu was cut into strips, which was breaded crunchy outside and tender pork inside dipping into a tangy sauce. Overall, I had an enjoyable lunch at a very fair price of $ 15.07 with tax to sample both cuisines. The service was very attentive(2 servers) through lunch with my plates/bowls cleared as I finished each item. The check was presented promptly and I was on my way.
