Went to Sake’s for dinner this evening. We both had Chicken Katsu, an excellent choice. The fresh garden salad was crisp & tasty with the the ginger dressing & the clear miso soup was very tasty. For dessert, I had one of the most refreshing desserts that I have ever eaten. It was a Mango Sorbee encrusted with white chocolate & the best that I have ever had. Will definitely revisit this restaurant.

Just ate here for dinner with my boyfriend and we were pleasantly surprised by the food and décor. Very modern and lovely decorations. The shrimp tempura roll and spicy salmon hand roll were delicious. I did not like the soft shell crab roll as much I felt that it was too mushy. The chicken teriyaki was soft, juicy ad tender and not overly sauced. The salad and miso soup were good as well.

The sushi bar was amazing. We were given a free appetizer that was delicious. The service was great and the sushi was fresh with nice presentation. Prices were reasonable as well.

Sushi was ok. Miso soup was ok. Seaweed salad was sub-par, chewy, and drenched in green syrup.

I really enjoy their Hibachi and have been itching to go back. Ever since my last visit, they solidified themselves at my favorite Hibachi in the area. The food is all great quality and very tasty. The best part for me is that they serve you rice AND noodles with your meal, you don’t have to choose one. I actually worked here when it was still Filet 7 West, so am familiar with the space and layout, and think it was beautifully designed then, and still looks that way. The bar area is sophisticated, and they have some interesting drink options. Service is always prompt and friendly. Definitely make a reservation for weekend dining!

Great place. I’m really really not a hibachi guy, but this place has me rethinking the whole concept. Had the filet and salmon hubachi dinner, and it was absolutely on the money. Came withsoup, salad, udon noodles, shrimp and veg appetizer, rice… really delicious. Family had some terrific sushi rolls, kani(crab) salad… everybody was a very happy puppy. But the kicker… got the scorpion bowl drink… served properly in a big tiki biwl with two iridescent straws and a fire in the middle to ensure that everyone else in the restsurant knows that you’re a liowlife alcoholic douchebag. An absolutely perfect drink. And the martinis everyone else had were pretty fab, too. Sweetheart waitress. Nice room. Hibachi guys that shoot sake into your mouth from plastic containers. Everything a growing boy needs. Sake rocks.

Love this spot! Best sushi in capital region we have found so far and it’s a fun restaurant with great service. The hibachi is by far the best I’ve had and the chefs always make it a great time for groups

Sad hibachi. Ok sushi but there are much better places around here.(Sushi Tei & sushi na in clifton park to name two I love) Where is the good hibachi though?! Impersonal service, dull atmosphere. I won’t be back.

Best sushi in the capital area hands-down! On my 3rd visit i went for lunch and happened to get there right as they were opening. As I walked to the sushi bar, I noticed every employee cleaning and preparing for the day’s business. Wiping the walls, under the tables, you name it. They cleaned things most restaurants would overlook. The sushi chef surprised us with a free fried wonton appetizer that was awesome! It was a great lead-in to some of the best tasting, fresh sushi I have had. Specialty rolls were delish! Service was polite and very attentive. Sake is now my Saturday lunch spot.

I went with a group of almost 50 to the hibachi dinner and ordered lobster. They also have steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon and filet mignon. It would be great if hibachi tables could be classified into«performance» tables and«no performance» tables. But I’m an idealist. I’m not a fan of the veggie throwing, sake squirting cooks, and I happened to sit with a group of women who also weren’t especially into the clowning, so I feel we deflated the cook a little bit. Several of us ended up with raw zucchini tossed upon our shirts. Not a big whoop for us. But what the hell, we got to watch the other tables be more exciting!!! Some of our comrades were into it big time, and that sort of thing can make a fun party if people are in the mood. The food was terrific, if tossed onto our plates in a not very ceremonial manner.. The people taking the sake squirts didn’t care how their food ended up on their plates. So while we weren’t trying to be killing the buzz, we were a bunch of people who had to work the next day. The restaurant is quite beautiful and spacious and I’d like to go back for the sushi too, and I’d especially like to go back to a hibachi table where the cook just made the food and had a good time and didn’t feel like throwing the veggies — that would be fabulous! It was an excellent way to serve that many people at once. There was a team of servers who did a very good job of keeping our glasses filled, taking away plates and delivering every thing we requested, including the soups and salads. This helped make the dinner a lovely experience in spite of our huge crowd.

It had been a while since my last hibachi experiences, which, although providing entertainment, have not excited me on the food end of things. However, it was a friend’s birthday, so I internalized my grumbling as a large group of us trekked to Latham to visit Sake. First, I was very impressed that the servers asked, without prompting, us how we wanted to split checks. We were a group of about 15 people, and splitting checks with so many people could be a nightmare. Often restaurants give you grief about splitting checks, but not here — they were happy to split as many ways as we wanted. This was a helpful way to start our meal and wiped out the annoyance that otherwise comes at the end when one large check arrives. I’m not a sushi fan– which is what seemed most recommended in other reviews — and really was not all that hungry, so I opted out of hibachi(it included salad, clear soup, fried or white rice, noodles, shrimp, AND choice of entrée). I ordered yaki udon with beef($ 14). The meal came out just as the chefs were preparing everyone else’s hibachi entrees. The noodles and veggies were fantastic. Great tasting sauce, al Dente noodles, and firm-tender veggies. The beef was just ok, as it wasn’t particularly flavorful, and tiny bit too fatty. I’d order this again, but just with veggies. My friend sitting next to me was very generous with sharing her food, and I am so glad for that. The fried rice was some of the best fried rice I have had. As another review mentions, it’s very garlicky, but I loved that. I would order just a bowl of that rice and be as happy as a lark. The noodles were also really tasty, but paled in comparison to the rice. My friend ordered the chicken and filet mignon combo. The chefs cooked all of the meat with lots of butter and fresh garlic. The filet is for sure the thing to get. It’s incredibly flavorful and tender(even though she got it cooked medium well), and has a truly great char from the cooktop. It’s worth the extra few bucks to upgrade to the filet. Really nice sized piece of meat, too. As a warning for first timers, although you can likely anticipate that the chefs will toss veggies into your mouths — as per usual at hibachi joints — note that the chefs will squirt sake into your mouth from one of those condiment bottles. They were ok if you declined, as I did(I know, lame), but if you choose to participate and become a human sake target, they will squirt A LOT into your mouth, and several of our guests had sake mouth overflows(and they were OK with that). My only minor gripe with Sake is that I ordered a glass of wine, and our server, after ordering, brought me a different wine, explaining that they were out of what I ordered. I said ok and took the substitute. However, the substitute was more expensive than the one I ordered that they ran out of. I was surprised they charged me for the more expensive sub than what I actually ordered. It wasn’t worth it to me to bring it to the attention of my server, but a minor customer service kind of blip that I noted. Other than that, out service was quick and attentive, and the chefs were fun and engaging. Although hibachi wasn’t my first choice, Sake exceeded my expectations. It’s worth paying more for the hibachi options, and if I find myself here again, I’ll be getting the filet hibachi(and that fried rice!).

HIGHLYRECOMMENDED4.5STARS I dined at Sake with my Brother, Sister-in-Law and her mom on 12÷26÷15. Sake is a pleasant appropriately lit space with plenty of room between tables. The hostess, noticing that one of our party employed a large walker, considerately guided us to the closest table to the door. Menus were provided promptly and we each ordered the amazingly priced Lunch Specials. Beyond the customary Kirin, Sake offers the pleasant and smooth Thai beer, Singha, which I chose. Lunch started with the House Salad. I never rave about salads but this salad fondled my taste buds exquisitely. The lettuce was fresh and the ginger dressing was THEBOMB! Great Salad! Miso Soup followed and it was very good, well seasoned and properly salted. I chose the three piece Sushi Combination. The restaurant provides lots of options, mine being the California Roll, Eel Roll and Shrimp Avocado Roll($ 13.00 for the three course lunch). The 18 piece portion was huge and I could only get half way through it. The seafood was fresh and delicious. It, like all of our dishes, was. attractively plated. My plate was simple, large and rectangular. My dining companions enjoyed their Hibachi Shrimp and Chicken Lunches ($ 11.00).The portions were large and accompanied by rice and perfectly al dente vegetables. Our server, Mendy, was terrific. She wore a smile through out our interactions and checked back several times to see if we needed anything. She brought me a container for my sushi and, without being asked, fresh dipping sauce. In addition, I forget my scarf and she literally ran out to our car to return it. FINALTAKE: Look no further for great and attractively priced Japanese food in the New York Capital Region. GOTOSAKE!

Sake is your standard, dime a dozen Hibachi/Sushi operation. The Hibachi is expensive, but the portions are ample, and the show is always fun for kids. The filet was very tender and juicy; however, the salmon and shrimp were overcooked — I guess this is the problem when you have that many menu items on the grill at the same time. On this particular day, they had Uni and Toro available as a special — but the freshness left much to be desired. The same thing could be said for the Mango Tango and Tuna roll. It was also Wednesday — so they had BOGO cocktails and ladies’ night special for martinis which seemed like a decent deal. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any unfiltered Sake on the menu. Overall — Sake is a solid place to go for a family event, but don’t expect any sort of «wow» factor. And I was glad I wasn’t picking up the tab.

Great sushi and friendly owner! This is actually the first sushi restaurant I’ve been to in the Capital Region, and I was not disappointed. A few acquaintances and I came here on a Wednesday night for a Ladies’ Night. The first place for our monthly UYE Ladies’ Night! It turns out that they have $ 5 cocktails and martinis all night. What a deal! Before we were seated at a table, we hung around the bar for awhile. There was a live band(apparently they have a live band every Wednesday and Saturday). It was so loud you could barely hear the person next to you, but it was still neat. I felt bad for the group of ladies situated to the band’s left, how were they even conversing with one another?! I ended up ordering their Raspberry Coolatta which had grand marnier, raspberry vodka and tonic. It wasn’t bad once the flavors were all mixed together(she made it look pretty by creating a color gradient with the grand marnier). It was definitely worth the price. Once we moved to the dining area, the music drowned out enough for conversation. There were 7 of us total, so there was never a dull moment. I decided to order all sushi but they had many good sounding dishes on the menu. One person in my group ordered, what looked like to be, a hot pot. It looked delicious. I went simple and ordered all sushi. I ordered a California Roll($ 5), a Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll($ 6), and the Monkey Roll($ 13). My favorite was definitely the Monkey Roll: shrimp tempura and spicy tuna on the inside wrapped with avocado and topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. The flavors blended perfectly. It originally was supposed to have a sweet chili sauce topping in addition, but I asked for it without(it’s just not my jam). I loved the crunch of the tempura in contrast to the creamy avocado. The eel sauce gave a nice depth with sweetness which balanced the spicy mayo well. I would definitely get this roll again. You could tell how fresh the avocado was. The other rolls were average: still tasty, but nothing out of this world. I know the spicy mayo was integrated into the tuna, but I would have preferred the crunchy roll to be topped with it. I loved the tempura bananas I got for dessert. They were pretty traditional: battered, fried and served with vanilla ice cream, but it is still one of my favorite desserts when I go to Japanese restaurants. I loved how they made some other dessert dishes all fancy with flowers made from sauces. The service was average up until the owner came over. He knew a person in our party. He ended up giving each of us a free dessert and shots all around. He was very nice and hospitable. As for the waitresses, they were helpful and pleasant except they forgot one of the dishes my friend ordered, but it worked out because she was stuffed. I loved the ambiance of the place, it was well decorated and lit. It gave off a relaxing, modern vibe. It seems perfect for a date. Overall, I would come back here if there weren’t so many other sushi places to try in the area. The prices are average. I definitely recommend this place, but I want to see what other places in the capital district have to offer.

Love the fact that the fish in the sushi rolls or atop rice(nigiri and chirashi) are fantastically fresh! I’ve never been disappointed in the sushi entrees here. I enjoy the hibachi entrees as well, as their chefs take their skills to the table and make it entertaining for kids and adults alike. The chef will cook to your liking at the teppanyaki tables and don’t hesitate to ask for more flavor or to tone it down a notch(hello, garlic and butter!) If you order a hibachi entrée here you get alot out of it… soup, salad, choice of meat, veggies, noodles, AND rice. If you eat like a trucker, you might be able to finish it all, if not… we can have a leftovers party. The appetizers are aplenty and some pretty exotic… think tri-color tartars, duck crepes, and Thai crab cakes. My favorite being the treasure island(tuna, mango, red pepper, +avocado)…which brings me close to a Hawaiian poke bowl but packed with powerful flavor! There’s also lots of noodle and rice dishes, teriyaki and tempura, duck and seafood entrees. Dessert — wise, there’s the typical tempura ice cream(vanilla, chocolate, green tea, red bean) or banana, mochi ice cream, chocolate mousse + cakes, and something called a bomba(gelato or sorbetto covered in a coat of chocolate). Although I wouldn’t consider Sake as anything traditional Japanese, it’s fusion style and modern, trendy atmosphere is a plus. Most recently I discovered the live music during Ladies Night on Wednesdays(6:30−9:30pm?) and Saturday nights as well. A saxophonist, drummer, and pianist were all present in the bar area. The music is louder if you decide to sit at the bar… do find a real seat inside the restaurant if you want to be able to have a conversation with your party. *Plus: $ 5 cocktails all night for ladies every Wednesday! And parking overflows into the next lot over by the hotel… they are busy!

This is a local place for us. There’s a wide menu of japanese food with a «regular» table section and a teppanyaki section. A favorite of ours is the lively spacious bar in front with house special cocktails for $ 7 and a full range of drinks. Sake always has a good number of customers but we never had a problem getting a table. We were hungry. We ordered the satay beef and another beef appetizer; both were absolutely delicious. We had the sashimi and sushi for two, and were stuffed. We sort of forgot that they bring you miso soup and salad too! The service was friendly but quiet. The décor is attractive and the place is spacious so you aren’t too close to other customers.

I was rather disappointed with the service given. Our waitress Ina appeared to favor the other patrons at our table who were of a fairer complexion. I feel bad about having to give the restaurant 2 stars. Because the food was good and chef was amazing! But I can’t help but be upset at how my friends and I were treated. She never checked on us ever rolled her eyes and brushed off simple requests, like no lemon in the water. But I watched her offer refills and was accommodating to the other patrons. I then spoke with the manager who seemed to brush my concerns off as well.

First time eating at Sake. Went there for sushi. The miso soup is decent. The salad had an amazing dressing with ginger juice. I could trade the soup for a second salad. Ordered the sushi platter for two and the sushi/sashimi combo. One came with the Godzilla roll, the other with the chef’s special roll, both very good. The sashimi was unimpressive. The sushi is quite good, the rice does enhance the flavor of the fish. Will most likely return.
