First things first, this county park is in Lathrop. Mt. Diablo and the Sierra are potentially visible way in the distance through the haze, but other than that the most notable view is of I-5 a mile away.(The San Joaquin river runs through the park, but the levee blocks the view from the campground and doesn’t exactly create a wild river feel even when you can see the water.) With that in mind, this review is primarily about the campground. The sites here are uniformly good and I’d be satisfied in nearly all of them. The only exceptions might be some of the pull through sites because I prefer traditional back-in sites and in same cases they seemed closer to other sites. I think #14 is an example of one I’d try to avoid. We stayed in #4 and I thought it was one of the best because of open space, especially behind and to one side. My kids thought #15 looked the best and I agree it’s good because it’s probably the most private and has good wind protection being alongside levee. Another consideration might be noise from I-5, although it wasn’t an issue when we were there and it’s tough to guess if any sites might have an advantage. Perhaps #15. Couple of areas for improvement: 1) tent camping is only allowed Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Seriously? Shouldn’t society(and county parks) encourage low impact tent camping and discourage resource intensive RVs? The beast nearby was literally called«The Intruder.» Such things should be restricted to February 29th. The tent restrictions are said to be in place because of landscaping considerations, but other campgrounds have nice landscaping and allow tents seven days a week; so should Dos Reis. 2) $ 25(in April 2015) is way too steep for this place. $ 15 for RVs and $ 10 for tents would be far more reasonable. All in all I liked this campground and would recommend it, tent restrictions and high cost notwithstanding. Be sure to check out the Ghirardelli outlet and ice cream shop a few minutes away across the interstate.

Nice little park on the San Joaquin River. Looks like they have a campground and things fur the kids to play on. I only came for a few hours to launch my kayak. I would come back here.
