I have eaten at this location at least 3 times(that I can remember) and the food was decent but nothing to write home about. However, the locale is what my party and especially father-in-law love. So I called to make a reservation for the Saturday before Easter and picked a time and the server put me on hold to write everything down. About 3 minutes later she comes back and says that her manager has told her that they wouldnt accept any reservation for a party of more than 8!!! WHAT? I couldnt believe it that they would turn down guaranteed money, not to mention that they have lost my business permanently.

Lots of confusion as we arrived. 2 young ladies as hostesses neither could find our reservations finally another woman came up and found immediately. We were seated upstairs nice table. Our friends had already been seated. We ordered drinks and calamari and shrimp cocktail. Very good. Ordered entrees and more drinks. Took long time for drinks. Food was just OK. Wasn’t hot good flavor in scallops. Prime rib was pricey for the slice received. Wait staff friendly enough. Just expected more based on the reviews here Big problem with valet. We observed they brought our car up after people handing in tickets after us! NOTIP for that We probably won’t go back. Too bad because the setting is beautiful and we live 10 minutes away!!!

Ate again on 3÷6÷16. My only problem I didn’t mention was such a nice place with nice bread basket. But the bread is served cold, tsk tsk

Conch fritters were filled with mainly stuffing. Orange roughy acceptable. Grouper quite good. Scenic views by day.

I’m not sure why anyone would live in South Florida if they don’t love the beach, unless you have some sort of genetic condition that requires you live in the furnace of a very humid hell for roughly 8 mos of the year. Or find having a blind mole rat for a governor funny… any way, I digress. We love the beach. But surprisingly, even tho you can’t swing a dead cat in the Caribbean without hitting an outstanding beach bar /restaurant, they are few and far between here in SoFla. So, when you find one with good food and a great beachy view, you really really want to love it. And for a really long time we did! The Sea Watch is old school SoFla, we used to love it, especially for the seemingly completely undiscovered upstairs bar, where you could have a good beer or cocktail overlooking a lovely, empty beach with no pounding music, guys on the prowl or banks of TV’s blaring the latest Florida sports disaster. You could go there when the HUGE parking lot was completely packed, and because of the way the restaurant is set up, have an fairly intimate dinning experience, with excellent, European style service, super fresh seafood and great drinks! Usually the doors and windows were open, because it is right on the beach and caught the breeze, and there were the somewhat disturbingly large iguanas that lived on the roof and the inexplicable white bunnies that lived underneath. Then we moved away from SoFla for a couple years, and something happened. The Sea Watch has changed. The iguana’s are gone, as are the bunnies. The food, once solid and fresh, has gone terribly wrong. The salmon, the grouper, the snapper — all really bad. The paella, which my husband LOVED, is now small, scrawny and tasteless. And what used to be my favorite quiet place to have a good drink or beer, the upstairs bar? They’ve done something to the booths to make them the winners of the«most uncomfortable bar booths in South Florida» award, And the drinks suck. And, the beer, which used to have a European bent, is now only American and heavily weighted with light, ultra light, super ultra light, extra super special light, über super extra double light… whatever, you get the drift. The service is still good, but the waitresses seem to be getting worn down by the general displeasure of the customers thru no fault of their own. I can’t explain it — the place has got to make a fortune! The lot is ALWAYS crowded! Please, please bring back the old Sea Watch! So sad :(

My wife and I went for lunch(our second visit) and both had the Mahi-Mahi. The food was very good, sides were also well prepared. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, but unfortunately not very attentive. We were not offered water or drink refills until we were done eating… empty glasses sitting in plain sight. It wasn’t very busy, so 4 stars for food drops this to 3 stars due to service.

A place that doesn’t do carry out orders over the phone is definitely a big NO for me. Further, Bob that answered the phone, should not be so rude when dealing with customers. I don’t want to come in, sit at the bar and wait for my food. I don’t think I have ever called a place and been told that my business is not wanted. We have dined in before and because Sea Watch is so close to us it was a quick dinner option after a long day at work. I’m sorry Sea Watch, but terrible move.

It was my friend Eric’s birthday, so a small group of us took him to Sea Watch for dinner. I had never been there and I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous it was. The restaurant was decorated beautifully. My meal started with the Lobster Bisque – wonderfully creamy and absolutely delicious! For a main course, I had the Blackened Mahi-Mahi. I loved it! It was accompanied by carrots and asparagus. My meal was perfect. I had a Coors Light which made it all the better. The service was great, the restaurant was spotlessly clean, I loved it! Eric chose the ice cream cobbler for dessert. I had a taste. It was just delightful as was the entire meal. Sea Watch went out of their way to make Eric’s birthday incredibly enjoyable. I played Happy Birthday on my harmonica and we all went home happy!

It was a friends birthday and Clyde, my cousin, and I wanted to take him out for dinner. A friend recommended Sea Watch. I had never been there before. After reading the great reviews on Unilocal we decided to go there. The restaurant backs onto the ocean. It’s a beautiful rustic building with lots of windows. We missed seeing the ocean view because it was already dark. The food was so good. To start our meal our server brought a basket of bread and butter. There was a grain bread and black bread. We ate every piece of bread in the basket and asked for more. It didn’t take long for us to dig into the second basket. According to the reviews on Unilocal the lobster bisque is a must have. Clyde and I ordered it and it was delicious. The bisque was smooth, and creamy, with bits of lobster. It was very good. For my entrée I got the salmon which came with asparagus and carrots. I got a nice size piece of salmon which was perfectly cooked. Our server said the salmon was 8 ounces. It tasted very fresh. Salmon can be delicious or it can be awful. This salmon was delicious. The sliced carrots were good. Some of the asparagus was a little woody making it hard to chew. I told the server and she brought me some extra carrots to make up for the asparagus. There was also a small serving of chopped kalamata olives and sliced cherry tomatoes on my plate. That was a nice addition and it went well with the salmon. I had ice tea with my meal. Clyde ordered the blackened mahi mahi. He ate every bite. He said it was delicious. My cousin had conch chowder which he said was wonderful. Next he had the Caesar sald. For his entrée he got fried shrimp. His order consisted of five large shrimp. He said he would have liked a little less coating on the shrimp. The birthday boy had the lobster bisque which he loved. He had a Caesar salad that looked delicious. It was a large serving for a side salad. The next time I go I’ll be sure to order it. For his entrée he had scallops and top sirloin with a loaded baked potato. He couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful his birthday dinner was. For dessert we shared a delicious fruit cobbler topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It arrived at the table adorned with a birthday candle. We each got a few bites. It was so good. I’d come back for another helping of that cobbler. The restaurant was beautiful, the service couldn’t have been better, and we enjoyed the food. I’m already planning to go back for lunch. If I go for lunch I should be able to get a great view of the ocean while I’m eating. If you join their Preferred Guest Club, it’s free to join, you get a $ 30 coupon you can use any day during your birthday month.

Living close by and not wanting to drive a long distance on such a fragile night, my husband and I have been enjoying our traditional New Year’s eve dinner at Sea Watch for the last eight years. When we went in 2014 we both felt it should be our last time there on that specific night but really didn’t say much to each other about it until we went again New Year’s Eve 2015.(I didn’t want to break our annual tradition and he didn’t either, as we both learned after this last visit. (I know — how romantically sweet! LOL) First of all, let me say that we have been there multiple times when the meal, the ambiance, the service, the whole vibe has been amazing, delicious, fun and overall enjoyable. While dining at Sea Watch New Year’s Eve is always festive and the ambiance romantic of course going on this particular night is always a risk because of a high-priced preset menu, potential overload on the waiters for turning tables, and heavily boozed crowds all can attribute to a potentially negative dining experience which we’ve experienced in past years. Having said that, we were seated pretty quickly upon arriving at 8:15 for our dinner reservation, our table was nice, our surroundings inside were lovely — we could(sort of) see outside(dark out on the beach) while in the comfort of A/C, we had plenty of elbow room and the waiters seemed calm and pleasant. I ordered a medium-well petit filet mignon/lobster combo and my husband ordered a rare steak because, frankly other than a fish, that was all we had to pick from(from what I recall). We both enjoyed lobster bisque that frankly lacked adequate lobster but the creamy broth was delicious. The server checked back semi-frequent enough to assure good service but not too often as to feel pressured to hurry thru our meal. Then our atrocious cold lack-luster meals arrived. My lobster was rubbery and cold and the meat was completely pink. My husband’s steak was better but also pretty cold & the sides of potato lacked flavor and freshness and heat! We felt as if our dinners had been sitting in an assembly line waiting to be pushed out. Our desserts(included in the $ 63/person price — were a huge basically glob of chocolate sugar with the vanilla ice-cream being the highlight. That was my favorite part of the meal; I have to laugh!!! I complained to the waiter and he had the manager come by. She checked with the GM and came back offering us $ 10 off my meal. Later in the evening the table next to us with a party of three had a similar complaint and I heard that same manager offer the gentleman to take his meal«off the tab.» I looked at my husband and said I’ll be damned if we pay for mine — which I was looking at half eaten on the plate. So we called that same manager back and said I’m sorry, $ 10 off will not suffice!” and she again said«let me check with the GM.» Since we clearly observed/heard her taking the full amount off a meal at the table next to us, I was appalled and ready for a fight. She must have seen my face because she did, in fact, immediately agree to credit half of my $ 63 meal to the check which my husband had in his hand. Honestly, it should have been the full amount like the guy next to us– but I had eaten parts of it and didn’t want to make a scene. To have a bad meal on such a special night is bad enough but then to be treated so unfairly sealed the discussion that we both felt it will be our final New Year’s Eve dinner at the charming romantic Sea Watch. We frankly love the old renovated house so much(this the 3 stars) and are willing to give it another shot outside a holiday. Wish us luck– but stay tuned!

Came to Sea Watch for a family dinner celebration. Everyone left full and happy. If you like seafood, this is the place to come. I had the lobster bisque to start and it was creamy and filling and luscious. My entrée was the crab cakes, 2 huge cakes, filled with crab and not much filler. Some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. Service was very attentive and friendly. The place is loud, and we sat in a high traffic area. Their renovation looks nice. I would recommend Sea Watch for locals and visitors alike.

We happened to be in the area and popped in on a whim to avoid the honky-tonk of Los Olas. There were quite a few people in line for tables, which is a good sign. The hostess was young and unpleasant. One hour wait. Ugh! With a vacant stare, she responded to my question of «can we eat at the bar?» with a long pause and finally an eye roll and«yes.» I’m glad we didn’t walk out because of her attitude because the upstairs bar is great! Very upscale crowd. Attentive bar staff. The food is delicious. We ordered a side of the corn bread with our apps which is a must-eat. Bonus: it was ½ price wine bottles and we enjoyed an amazing Cab for less than actual retail! We would certainly go back to try the restaurant proper, but if our meal upstairs is any indication, it should be wonderful.

Opening night after being closed for a month annnnnd here’s where they went wrong: 1. Bread isn’t fresh. 2. Food is small in portion size for the price. 3. Worse than that, the food(scallops and sirloin came out COLD. Freezing cold.). 4. I’ve had cheese graters less abrasive than our waitress. 5. She also nearly stabbed me in the face with a steak knife AND threw a fork across the table. For $ 29 for a cold plate of small-portioned food, take your money elsewhere. What… a…fail.

This place has got the atmosphere down. It feels like an old beach house. Beautiful, old fireplace. Tall ceilings. Lovely view to the ocean. It is the sort of building that once inside you keep looking around thinking how perfect it is. Once we went on a Sunday at midday, and it was semi-busy. We went during a weekday lunch and almost had the place to ourselves. I hear the place can really fill up during prime time, though. The waiter we had this last time was impeccable, over the top perfect. With almost all food in South Florida being average or below average, I certainly don’t expect much if you already have a good ocean view going. So that being said, the food is good but not great perhaps. Yes, it does seem overpriced. However, this is the sort of place I would come for the atmosphere for a nice date and enjoy the food for what it is.

Sea Watch has always been a very popular restaurant, mostly with the older retired and well-heeled snowbird crowd. It holds one of the most beautiful of beachfront locations with impressive views overlooking the ocean and ocean shoreline. Matter of fact, street rumor has it that the property itself may have an $ 80 million dollar value if converted to condo development. But, as a cautionary note on that, the impressive views are during the daylight hours. At night, when darkness falls, the impressive views disappear and you end up starring into nothing but blank darkness. Sea Watch is a rather large restaurant, on season tends to get crowded and with the crowding service has been known to suffer dramatically, but overall is generally a passable OK. As for food, everything has generally been rather good, consistent, but not remarkable. I’ve been here several times in recent months, have had their Six Cold Water Oysters, lobster bisque, Caesar salad which I order with anchovy added, their crème brulee dessert, but have generally favored the Sea Watch special of Bouillabaisse consisting of lobster, shrimp, scallops, calamari, fresh fish, mussels, clams, saffron-chicken-pernod broth, garlic croustade and priced at $ 29. Though it’s certainly nothing compared to what I’ve had in Marseille, not very innovated and somewhat skimpy on the seafood, it does have a good flavor and taste about it. In any event, when dinning at Sea Watch, my recommendation would be to stick with what are listed as being their«Sea Watch Specialties,» as I’ve found anything else to be somewhat subpar. Overall you’ll find nothing in their food line I would consider remarkable, unique, innovative, gourmet or out of the ordinary exciting, but nothing I would consider as not being good; basically being average and rather pedestrian at best. If you are looking for a restaurant with good ambiance as well as a pleasant ocean front view, this is it, but if you’re looking for really great food, especially in sea food, you aren’t going to find it here and Sea Watch is most definitely not the place for you. Along those lines, there are far superior choices. Matter of fact, in going Three Stars, I’m being rather generous food wise, particularly if price is of any consideration.

Sign up for emails so you will get a $ 30 gift card for your birthday month!!!(can’t use it on sunset meals) I went for my birthday dinner on a Monday night. For the sunset dinner they only take reservations for 5 or 5:15pm. The sunset dinner ends at 6pm. For $ 21.95 you get a choice of soup or salad, entrée with 2 sides, and ice cream or key lime pie. They provide you with a pumpernickel and wheat bread basket. The service was very good. Never had to ask for a drink refill or to have my plate cleared. I went with the prime rib sunset dinner. I started with the salad which is served with a sweet Asian vinaigrette. It comes with candied pecans, tomato, artichoke, olives, and tomatoes. I really liked the dressing. The prime rib is the same size as the regular menu($ 27 with no side, salad, or dessert). The prime rib was okay. I have had better seasoned prime rib elsewhere(Shula’s on the Beach). For the sunset deal I thought it was worth it. But I wouldn’t want to spend $ 27 just for the piece of prime rib. The sunset meal came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Both were good, but nothing outstanding. I also had a side of red skillet cornbread($ 3). It was served in a little three inch red skillet. They pop it out of the skillet in front of you. It was sweet and delicious. The top was a little crispy, which I liked. For dessert, I was disappointed they had no chocolate cake on their menu! With my sunset menu you get ice cream(chocolate, vanilla, or peppermint) or key lime pie. I gave my peppermint ice cream to my friend and ordered the pecan cake. It was super sweet. It was a mix between a cake and a pecan pie. It was good, but super sweet. It came with a scoop of ice cream. I tasted the key lime pie which was super sour. I am not a fan of key lime so I can’t really evaluate it. Overall, I thought the food was good for the price(sunset meal) and the service was excellent. Everyone in my party was extremely satisfied with what they ordered. The view of the ocean is great and the ambiance makes you feel like you are in an old yacht club.
