Cousins USA Moving & Storage

I strongly suggest you read my post and do NOT use Cousins USA. In all total I paid Cousins USA $ 9,878.12 since October 2012 to keep my possessions safe and instead they took my money, ruined my mattress, expensive couches, dings and damages to dresser, books and many other possessions ruined. I had to throw away the majority of my possessions due to damage caused by Cousins.
I stored my furniture with Cousins for a 3 year period from 2012 to 2015. When I asked them to take it out of storage and deliver it to me, I received the furniture with a great deal of mold damage. I was advised by ServPro a mold inspection company that the furniture could not be salvaged. I had to destroy about $ 8,000 worth of my property as a result of their carelessness. I contacted Cousins to receive restitution for the furniture I had to destroy and have received no restitution of any kind.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and I hope they will investigate this company and their storage facility since there must be mold on other long term customers stored household goods. I offered to settle with Cousins but Clem (owner or head manager) never has returned a single phone call or email in the entire 3 years after he got my business.
When Cousins is trying to get your business they will be nice and return phone calls, but once they have your stuff or they damage it you will never get a call from Clem or Cousins staff. Clem told me I would get every 7^th month free and I tried getting him to call me back over the 3 years and he never would. They are a dishonest company that has ruined my possessions while in storage. Really, how do does a storage and moving company manage to ruin all of my important hardback books? I have moved at least ten times in my life and this is the first bad rating for any moving company. Their parent company and long distance carrier Stevens Van Lines is just as bad.

Great moving experience to say the least. Representative from the company came to my house to inventory and send me a quote for moving. I was happy with the quote and called to book the date. The day prior to moving they called to confirm the move and give me the time they would arrive. The guys arrived as promised and were extremely courteous and careful with my belongings. They had the truck packed in way more time than I expected. They followed me to my new house and unpacked in the same quick and careful manner. Nothing has been found broken, scratched, or missing. I recommend this company hands up. Truly the company to go with.

Unpleasant experience, movers demanded a tip as if it were obligated, for assembling 3 pieces of furniture. That’s the least a place that also presents itself as a moving company is EXPECTED to do. Upon calling to have a breakdown of the charges, which were higher than expected, the man who handles everything Mr. Miller, had the audacity to bring up to my face a small discount he had initially offered, as if it were a favor I asked for, which had nothing to do with the fees in question. Ultimately he resorted to insisy that fees were due to unseen labor duties which are questionable. And to top it all off, hangs up my call just because I was translating everything he had just told me to the paying customers. Way to do business in a multicultural place as South Florida guys.

Great Experience
So let’s start from the beginning. A representative came out to my home to take an inventory of the items. The representative was very helpful and gave great advice on how to pack my items. Later that evening, I received my final quote. I can’t lie, I was disappointed in the amount. It was a little over than what I could afford. I emailed the representative and explained they were out of my budget. About three days later I got a call from the owner. He asked me what my budget was and we came to an agreement. I had to pinch myself to see if this was really happening. There is a moving site (I forgot the name) that has more recent reviews for this company. All of which, are very positive!!! I had a minor hiccup with the apartment complex I initially chose to move into. I had to switch apartment complexes. The apartment complex I chose was about 10 miles from the original complex. This was not an issue for Cousins USA. They really work with you to ensure you have a good experience with them!
They are very thorough in contacting you prior to move day to iron out any issues. I must have confirmed my move 4 times the week leading into my move via email and by phone. On move day, 4 men showed up (a little tardy-​15 min) to move my items. Never judge a book by its cover… I was quite worried when I initially made contact with them. These guys were great. They had a system in place and got me out of my first location, lightening fast! These guys are hard workers. They handled all of my items with care. Not one piece of furniture was damaged. I gave them all a 25.00 tip and they were grateful. If I could have given more, I would.
*****My only complaint with Cousins USA, they charged my credit card for the full amount prior to services being rendered. I wish someone one of have explained, moving on a Sunday would require a charge prior to the move. I expressed this to the company and they explained why the had to charge my balance prior to move day verses after the completion of my move. I am thankful my move went smoothly with NO ISSUES!
–Did I have a positive experience overall with this company? YES.
–Would I use them again? YES
Give this company a chance. It’s hard to find a company to move all of your personal belongings. My experience was great. I hope this helps someone out there.

Seven weeks after the fact, and I finally received my claim. Company said it would take four weeks. It was nearly double that time frame.
The lack of communication and customer service here are amazing.
So as you can see from the previous review, we moved cross country and they damaged most of our good and valuable items. In fact, the piano bench I had an estimate to fix. Cost $ 375 – 500. And there are many more items to fix.
I just received my settlement check; $ 183.
If you have a big move, if you value honesty, if you value your things arriving as they should, HIRE SOMEONE ELSE.

Do not hire this company (Cousins operated by Stevens Van Lines). They completely screwed my sister when she had to move. They guaranteed her a certain range of delivery dates and she paid them their hefty deposit and then two days prior to the move they told her they would be changing the date range by a number of WEEKS and if she didn’t like it, they would not pick up her stuff at all. Very unprofessional. Thieving and rude!

On their first visit to my home they were late and I was unable to let them move me due to time constraints. The rescheduled for the following Friday and arrived right on time.
The movers were friendly and hard working and had my items packed up in about 3 hours. I have a 1 bedroom apartment.
I was very happy with the service on Friday and would recommend.

My family and I were planning a move from Miami to Orlando. Due to past experiences, my fiancé was very apprehensive about hiring professional movers. I assured him that if we did our research, things will work out fine. Having heard myself make that promise, I also became nervous and pressured to pick a company we weren’t going to regret. I then started doing my research, picked a handful of companies, started to carefully read ALL reviews ( Unilocal, BBB etc.) finally narrowed it down to 5 companies, made appointments with them for an estimate. Cousins sent a gentleman by the name of Peter. He was very professional in every sense of the word. After meeting with all 5 companies, we chose Cousins bc of their professionalism and eagerness to help. We were still a bit nervous bc one thing is to hear what will be done, and another to actually see it. The day of the move arrived… movers were 40 minutes late due to traffic, but they were courteous enough to call and let us know. All of our belongings were left in the truck & in their storage to begin the drive the very next day (as planned). The next day at 7:00 am, the head mover & driver (Charlie Brown) called to let us know they were on their way. Charlie Brown and his guys arrived way before we did (my fiancé and I were delayed due to car issues); they patiently waited for us and started to unload. All of our belongings were intact and nothing was missing. Needless to say, we are very satisfied with the outcome. I definitely recommend this company to anyone who is planning to move. No matter what company you use, don’t forget the key points 1) read reviews, preferably choose a company who is part of the better business bureau 2) keep estimate, name of rep & contact info 3) buy extra insurance, better safe than sorry 4) call the day before the move to confirm time 5) keep an inventory log of all boxes (mark & separate by room to make it easier 6) when unloaded verify all boxes are there with log 7) check furniture for any damages Best of luck!!! We used Cousin’s for a Commercial Move from Boca Raton to Ft. Lauderdale and everyone was absolutely amazing. The staff at Cousin’s was very knowledgeable and friendly. They volunteered to be sure to have the necessary certificates of insurance for us and even helped with a few last minute request in a timely manner.
The movers were very professional and courteous. They waited patiently while we got some last minute paperwork sorted out with our landlord. Overall my moving experience with this company was awesome, the price was very competitive, and the service is unlike any I’ve experienced while moving. They did everything in their power to ensure the move went smoothly. I appreciated that very much.
If I have to move again, commercial or residential I’ll be calling Cousin’s to help me get it done!

This place presents itself as a «family owned» business during the sales process, but when it comes to the actual moving process these guys are anything but professional… You get quoted a service fee based on the number of labor hours needed as well as the man power provided however the quote they have me was off by over 200 dollars… I ended up helping the movers move my own stuff so that they didn’t completely drain my wallet… This place is a disgrace, and the owner should be embarrassed with himself… of course I disputed the charges and threatened to have the charges disputed with American Express, the owner then honored our original pricing agreement…, what a nickel and dimer and disgrace to legitimate family owned moving companies… Please I beg you to not use this company you are way better off renting a truck and picking up 1 or 2 day laborers off the street or ebay rather then pay cousins for this «service»… They are all about sales and marketing with no product to show for it, I write this message with the sole hope that someone doesn’t make the same mistake as me…
