I have been going to Dr. Herbst for almost 15 years. He is one of the best, most caring, thoughtful, meticulous medical practitioners that I have ever met.
He is kind, thorough and I have had other dentists comment multiple times the quality of the work of the roots canals that Dr. Herbst did for me.
Simply put Dr. Herbst is the best and I would recommend him to any of my friends or family. If you need a root canal you really deserve it to yourself to have Dr. Herbst take care of you.

Dr. Herbst is the very best. My wife is scared to death of dentists, but he performed root canal surgery on her and she loved him. He was very gentle and skillful. She felt no pain. He has a great staff and he cares about his patients. His office called twice after the root canal to ask my wife if all was well — which it was. Neither my wife nor I ever felt that he viewed us as objects in a revenue stream.
I learned that Dr. Herbst was on the faculty of two Dental Schools and has taught a number of dentists how to be endodondists. He has a great reputation among other dentists who know his work. He is a dentist’s dentist.
My general dentist sent me to an expensive periodontist who took x-​rays and subjected me to drawn out and expensive gum procedures. When the perodontist finished the treatments, I still felt discomfort on one side of my mouth. So I borrowed my x-​rays and took them to Dr. Herbst who advised me that I had a crack down near the root of one of my teeth and that I needed the tooth extracted. I followed his advice and the pain has never recurred. I was angry with the periodontist and I called his office. He told me that he had just missed the crack and that Dr. Herbst had called him and told him that he had. He said Dr. Herbst was absolutely correct. The periodontist was apologetic, but offered me no refund. He did tell me that Dr. Herbst had done root canals for people in his family and that I had chosen a superb dentist.
I would recommend seeing Dr. Herbst for any tooth or gum discomfort before going to a general dentist or other specialist. He will not clean teeth or do routine fillings, but he has very high diagnostic skills and going to him is like going to an internist who will recommend conservative treatment if there’s a possibility it will work. But, he’s also realistic and if a root canal is needed, there’s nobody better.
