I lived at Tuckaway at Frontier for 3 years. Becca and Michelle are wonderful in the office. They are like a family and really strive to make the community the best it can be. These apartments appear to be expensive but once you factor in that they include everything, it can be very budget friendly(especially if you had a roommate in a two bedroom apartment). They are building new buildings now, but the older one(not that old!) are great as well. Each one has an elevator too, which helped with moving in and out, etc. I really miss my Tuckaway family!

Frontier Apartments opened in the Spring of 2011. One of the newer apartment complexes in Lawrence Kansas. Owned and operated by Tuckaway Management which in turn is supposedly owned outright by local real estate/construction magnate Gene Fritzel. Fritzel owns the Eldrigde Hotel in downtown Lawrence along with a slew of other apartment properties and real estate. Fritzel Construction is actively involved in building various subdivisions and high end homes in Lawrence Kansas. First off, Frontier Apartments uses the ‘All in one’ pay feature. There is one set fee per month that covers the rent, all utilities(water & electricity), cable, and internet. Yes, you write one check and that’s it! Use as much electricity, water, ect and pay the same amount every single month. Never changes and very convenient. You’re probably wondering about the cost… Well, a ballpark figure for a two bedroom with garage is around $ 1250 per month. The Frontier property is somewhat unique. Not necessarily geared towards the usual college student in Lawrence. The property is rather small in comparison to most large apartment complexes. The layout and design is second to none in this area. The craftsmanship on the exterior and interior of the property is quite appealing and different. The landscaping utilizes an artificial turf material which is bright and beautiful compared to most complexes. The exterior utilizes more of a stone appearance versus the standard vinyl siding. Security cameras are installed on each building facing the parking lots and actively monitored. The complex is shaped like a giant letter«L». A small amount of detached garages are available. Mainly street parking. Speaking of parking… This is the #1 issue this apartment complex is stung with. There is a glaring lack of available parking! Plus, each resident is assigned two parking stickers and no more. If a vehicle is caught parking without a sticker, possible towing could occur. This is a real sticky situation with residents right now. In a way, it;s a good policy to ward off unwanted vagrants and keeping the complex somewhat under control and minimizing the usual college town run down apartment complex.
Each building has a unique feature in that it provides an elevator to the second and third floors. Each floor of the complex breezeways are lined with sprinkler systems and fire alarms. The front doors are heavy duty not found much in apartment complexes. Each unit has an active security system and intrusion alarm set-up. Once inside each unit, you’ll notice the quality products and material used. The arch ways and molding are different than what you would expect in an apartment complex. Granite is found everywhere from the bathroom, kitchen, and even the window seals throughout the apartment. The carpeting is of the berber variety. Very neutral and soft. The walls are an off white/crème color. An open floor plan with plenty of square footage. Major complaint is that with white cabinets and dark granite counter-tops, stainless steel appliances would have been awesome. Instead, all appliances are white whirlpool. Still not bad by any means, but wish they had installed stainless. The washer and dryer is top of the line front loaders.
