Hy-vee

Stopped and bought gas and they put a hold on my account for the rest of the money in my account. After getting my card declined at Starbucks, I went back to ask what the deal was.
The assistant manager straight up told me it wasn’t their problem and I needed to make more money.
I’ve never been more insulted.

Friendly, knowledgable staff. Great variety in produce and fresh baked breads. Professional and beautiful cakes for all occasions. Great health section too, many milk and flour alternatives.

A well stocked, friendly, neighborhood oriented Hyvee. Competes with Dillon’s and outshines them, in my opinion. They’re getting ready for a remodel and (Huzzah!) they just put in a Starbucks kiosk. They have a lot of great gluten free choices in their health market, and they’re good about keeping dates current and items fresh. The deli has some of the nicest workers, and their meat department is really great. This is my place to shop and I’m here several times a week. You’re as good as it gets, 6^th Street Hyvee!

Bright, airy, and well stocked with a great variety of products to include a full service florist and a bank as well as a lots of crunchy granola meatless, vegan, and organic items. Folks there were mighty friendly and helpful in navigating the large store. Prices seemed a bit high, but there’s always Checkers if you have to stick closely to your budget. It’s enjoyable and pleasant to shop here.

Grocery shopping is one of my many tasks that I put off because I despise it. I can’t handle the congested traffic of Dillions but can’t afford to buy all of my food organic/​local so I choose to shop at Hy-​vee. Also let’s face it, I also enjoy good old fashion junk food that you can’t find as much of at the Merc.
I tend to get super flustered at other grocery stores in Lawrence when grocery isles are too close, have low ceilings, and what I can describe a sole sucking light to try and navigate through (I promise I’m really not this high maintenance).
But when I do shop I really feel the calmest out of all the grocery stores in town at Hy-​vee on 6^th street. Yes, I’m sure that they over paid some consultant to study what aesthetically appeals to customers when shopping but okay with that if I freak out less when going grocery shopping.
I adore the salad bar which has a great mix of fruit, veggies, desserts, and non meat items. They also have a great health foods section.
I would totally recommend this place and I do believe this is the best grocery store in town that fits my needs.
