Very frustrated. Called on 8⁄13 for an appointment. Earliest for both the business and us, the customers, was 8⁄21 between 1pm and 3pm. Kastl called at 10:01am on 8/21, apologized, stated scheduled worker was caught on a previous job and couldn’t make it, but would reschedule or find a different worker to get out to our house. No problem, we’ll reschedule. Advised Kastl that it had to be done AM that following Monday or Tuesday and was told first thing Tuesday at 8:30am. 9:44am Tuesday, today, husband calls to say no one has arrived. Checked my phone no contact attempted by Kastl. Call Kastl was told they should have been there and they would call me back. 10:01am call Kastl back asking for an update and was told there was an emergency at Perkins Restaurant and they hoped to be there this AM still. 10:05am Kastl calls back to say they are on their way. Over an hour and a half after they were supposed to arrive, and us having to call and tell them they weren’t here, they fixed the issue in about an hour and a half. The bill $ 134.25 for labor, $ 50 material, $ 4.75 tax. They replaced about 10″ of pipe(outdoor faucet in, easy access). We lost $ 80+ to take off work and wait. No compensation for their issue, multiple accommodations made by us, and when I expressed this Kastl said, «Ma’am I apologized.»

The WORST experience we’ve had with ANY company in Lawrence. Kastl replaced our sewer line in the beginning of June. First, in the process of replacing the line in the backyard, they tore up our front yard as well. They also left large pieces of old sewer pipe in the yard. It looked as though they just dug up the old line and then used it to fill in the holes. We also have 1 – 2 ft deep sink holes in areas where they didn’t mound or fill-in correctly. We have not been able to use our backyard at all for almost a month. We have been back and forth with this company for weeks(always calling them because no one follows up with us!) They have promised to come clean up multiple times, but never show up. We eventually ended up calling another company in town. They were able to come by the same day we called. They were surprised at how horrible the yard looked and could not believe that Kastl even used gravel over the new pipe(something well-known in the trade) because the yard was so uneven. The other company gave us a referral for someone to clean-up the mess, but we decided to give Kastl one more chance. Last week we were told that someone would be there on Thursday or Friday to clean up. No one showed up. We called again and were promised that someone would come over Monday. The same Kastl employees came over and removed a few chunks of sewer. Unfortunately, when we asked about the rest of the clean-up they were completely rude and said«there’s no way we are paying for grass seed for your yard.» We never asked for grass seed! We just want a level yard that is free of sewer debris so we can get started on fixing our yard! The complete lack of customer service is almost unbelievable. I would not recommend this company to anyone. In the end I guess their work is speaking for itself. In the last 3 weeks we have had multiple people(both neighbors and strangers) stop and ask what happened to our yard. One word. Kastl.

Not very friendly on the phone, said they would call back after finding out if anyone was available. Never did. Guess no one was. I wish more people in Lawrence would use Unilocal!!!

I am new to town and needed some minor plumbing done. I called and talked to the office about the company and how long it would take to get service. I was told they were available the following week. I checked my work schedule and called back the following week and made an appointment. I took a half day vacation only to find as I left work that they had left me a voicemail cancelling my appointment. I called as soon as I got the message. Their answer service answered the phone and of course they were off 12−2pm for lunch. When I finally was able to talk to the office staff and was told that they were behind, blah blah, blah, but they could schedule me for the next day. I explained I had taken a half day vacation today and could not be available the next day. I pleaded to have someone come this day to do a minor part of my job but there was no effort on their part to help me. I give them an F for reliability and customer service. I would not recommend this business to anyone and will certainly tell all my family and friends how awful they were.
