What a gem… hidden off of 25th street in Lawrence. I needed to pick up a few birthday gifts, and this place had been recommended as a relatively-new option in town. I am SO glad that I went to Kretyen first. This locally-owned store has coffees, teas, other food products, as well as jewelry, home accents, scarves, bags, and so much more – all that benefit international crafts-men and –women. As I arrived, the owner offered me fair trade coffee to sip as I browsed(they sell this in store). I did not take it, and I am glad, as I needed both hands to pull amazing gifts off of artfully arranged shelves. All of the items in the store are fair trade and each has a tag that notes where the item was made and the materials out of which it was made. I was able, in approximately 20 minutes to find 5 gifts(this is a record for me), and if I would not have been on my lunch break, I would have spent a lot more time. Each of my gifts was hand wrapped in tissue, with the price removed, and arranged in great gift boxes boxes(all recycled materials). This place is amazing, and has gifts and things that you will want for yourself(I know I had to buy myself a little treat). The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
