Yes, it’s a nice facility and a drop dead gorgeous setting, but in terms of infrastructure it’s waaayyy behind the times in comparison to the rest of the conference. Likely to stay that way for a long time, too. There’s something about the Univ. of Kansas that can’t get its act together around the sport of football. Look for a mostly empty stadium this year and a team that could go 0 – 12. Not saying that to just be mean, I have season tickets. In the words of former head coach Mark Mangino, «any school can have a bad century in football.» That pretty much sums this place up. Hoping the program can move forward so the rest of the school and boosters can get behind them. Right now it’s about the most difficult school in the NCAA to want to love this stadium and the team.

Memorex Stadium used to be really popular during the days of VCR but life moves on, and leaves stadiums like this behind. First-Hand Experience: Info on my personal visit to this stadium — my concerts in Topeka the night before and Olathe the night after, were amazing, but my visit to this stadium was not so great. I wasn’t impressed by how old and run down it was, and perhaps it was just an off day or perhaps it was the rain, but the crowd wasn’t particularly loud. I don’t think they’re doing a great job with the stadium or the team to be honest. Also, I paid a lot more for this ticket than I’ve paid at almost any other college football game. Which is shocking since this really is the middle of nowhere, the cheap midwest. Doesn’t make sense. I’ve been to every cool stadium in the UK& North America, due to my obsession with travel & sport. I’ve toured America as a musician for 7 or 8 years. In that time, I’ve seen sports games at, or visited when empty(and usually both), at almost every major stadium in US and Canada. I have pictures of most which I will upload at some point. Also, on future travels, I plan to take new pix, and add more stadia! Watch this space! ***back to regular review*** It is a really great stadium in a really great state, but it needs a little facelift and needs to have the other end of it filled in so it has a real intense bowl atmosphere instead of an open end. Also it’s too expensive in an area which really shouldn’t be. But this region of the country is one of my favourite parts, and my concert crowds here are always awesome, so I have nothing but love for little Lawrence, KS which I’ve been to many times. By the way, KC has the best BBQ in the world, and I recommend you try Arthur Bryant’s, Gates, Fiorella Jack Stack, and Woodyard, with some Miami Ice or Town Topic milkshake and burgers for dessert.

It is a nice stadium. It isn’t up to par like OU, Texas or Kansas State’s stadium but KU Isn’t a football school. Ticket prices are way to high. Which does help keep the visiting crowd levels down but they should look at it as we are making money! My advice is lower the ticket prices!

Stadium is OK. Parking expensive and up-hill. But my tickets in the visitor section were actually BEHIND the goal line — like on the –40 year line. Totally lame!!! Not a way to treat a visitor. At least we won!

One of the absolute best places to go for a college football game. I know that everyone has their own opinion about their own school, but seriously and without bias, this is one of the best places to come see college football. I was there for the KU vs. Iowa State game and it was really exciting. The atmosphere was fun and there weren’t any billigerent, dumb fans. Although we were pretty close to the Iowa State Fans we didn’t see them getting to much out of control. Especially when they lost(chuckles). Don’t worry… we have had several losses this year so I can’t really talk too much smack. When and if you go, take a cushion or because you will sit on bleachers. You can park at a satellite location and take the bus there. Seemed to be the easiest way to get to and from the stadium. Definitely worth going again and again and again.
