These cookies are fan-freaking-tastic! We were lucky enough to try them at a Unilocal event earlier this year, and I’ve pretty much been craving them since. They’re basically the perfect cookie — not too sweet, not too dry and crumbly, just right. And full of chocolate, if that happens to be your cookie vice of choice. My favorite was the Aztec(dark chocolate with a kick of spice), followed closely by the Sweet Chip(chocolate chip). My husband loved the Sunday Morning(oatmeal with cranberries, orange zest, and white chocolate). We ended up deciding to send an assortment of cookies as holiday gifts to family members this year(perhaps somewhat selfishly hoping they’d share), and apparently the cookies were a huge hit. So, we’re not going to get any, and we’ll have to order some of our own!(I should note that as of right now you can only order the cookies online, though they will ship to anywhere in the US, and delivery is an option in Lawrence for free. Delivery to KC and Topeka is at a reduced rate to their usual shipping rate.) Shipping was super quick, even from KS to Florida, and apparently my grandmother has resorted to hiding the last few cookies from my grandfather. Yeah, they’re that good. We ordered a classic sampler, and at $ 24.95 plus shipping for a dozen cookies, I feel like it was a good deal. We also sent out an ultimate sampler to some other family members and again, at $ 48.95 plus shipping for 2 dozen cookies, I’m happy and my shopping is done! Seriously, just over $ 2 per handmade awesome cookie is totally worth it in my book. After hearing how much the cookies we sent have already been enjoyed, my only regret is that I didn’t send a bigger box to my grandparents, because then there would be some left for me next week!

Oh. My. Gosh. Two days ago, I ate the best oatmeal raisin cookie I’ve ever tasted. The cookie was moist, almost cool in the center, with raisins bursting in my mouth with a hint of — is that rum? Yes, yes it is my dear friends. My cookie had been drinking. This AMAZING delight is Sweet Chip’s «The Late Night,» as described by their website, the cookie is «an adult twist on the traditional oatmeal raisin cookie. Our raisins are soaked in Spiced Rum before being added into this decadent cinnamon and oatmeal cookie.» And, oh my lord it is. I immediately envisioned a teired tower of these cookies in place of a cake at my dream wedding. Raisin haters not allowed through the front door. That being said, I also had a wee nibble of their double-chocolate-cinnamon-cayenne cookie. I’m not even a chocolate lover(only in small doses!) but this was amazing. Who’da thunk that a dash of red pepper in a batter of chocolate decadence could make my mouth dance like that. Not overwhelming at all, the pepper seems to even out the richness of the chocolate flavor layers, so you could probably down a couple of them before realizing you were harvesting quite the dinner baby. Orders are online only right now, as they don’t have a physical location — I think Kristin works out of her home? Must be quite a kitchen, because we had a spread of dozens & dozens of fresh, moist, giant cookies. Num num to the max! Shoot them an email STAT, so you can have an indulgence of your own. And be a doll & drop a couple off at my house, won’t you?
