Talk’n’Save

These people deserve to go out of business for the way they treat paying customers. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and customer service BS by doing business with anybody else.
Besides, WiFi is almost ubiquitous in Israel anyway, you can live without the Talk’n’Save clowns.

Omg what a headache!
I was going on a birthright trip and I got a $ 60 dollar plan which was the most unlimited option they had. I ended up being charged almost $ 200! On top of that the phone was a total piece of shit. I felt like a drug dealer carrying around a burner. It didn’t even work half the time!
The customer service is THE WORST! I talked to a guy about this second bill they sent me two months after I went on my trip, and he couldn’t even form a coherent sentence. He seemed so ill equipped for the job.
Seriously save yourself the headache and go to another company.

Not a very well run company. To be fair, I have used this company for my first four trips to Israel and did not have a problem. However, this company has been terrible with regards to the trip I have planned next week. I requested that a cell phone be shipped to my home address over this past weekend. I requested overnight delivery and paid an additional $ 25.00. It is Friday and I have not received this yet. I ordered this online. I have sent numerous e-​mails and have yet to get a response. Furthermore, I have tried to call the NY office on numerous occassions during working hours. I always get the same voicemail message with several options. Most of the options just kick me to the Jerusalem office which is always closed because they are 7 hours ahead of my time. The one option that allows me to speak to a NY representative of Talk-​n-​Save is useless. The phone just rings and rings. Nobody ever picks up and there is not even voicemail. Incredible in this day and age that there is no voicemail. The result is that I have not been able to speak to a human being concerning the phone that I ordered about one week ago and still have not received. I am going to look for other companies that provide this service. I strongly suggest that anybody interested in having a phone in Israel do likewise.

The phone did work most of the time, but they ended up billing me $ 60 over, so I had to do AMEX partial charge-​back.

Trust the negative reviews.
The number on the phone was wrong and no one could get in touch with me for over 3 days. They did not attempt to correct their mistake.
I returned them their phone the day after and they claimed for a month they did not get it. Then they topped it with a $ 8 invoice, when in fact they were to return me $ 40.
The rude representative told me that the refund would be in the next billing cycle.
Its a month and half and they are still sitting pretty on they refund.
Horrible company and terrible service.

I set up talknsave plans for two different trips, the most recent this year.
I recently had a lot of questions and interactions with the main office in Israel via email. Their response was so helpful and quick I sent them the following note:
«You have gone above and beyond with your great service. You make it easy to adjust things as needed, and you explain it all with a great attitude and with such fast replies. That’s a big deal for a parent (in my case) who wants to make sure my son/​daughter r traveling safely, which requires a good phone/​text/​data plan. (Our experience with your co previously when my daughter was there went equally smooth.) You and your company just make it one less thing for me to worry about. Thank you for everything and please pass this on to your manager.»
Arrangements for the plan were done before arrival in Israel via email. Start-​up upon landing went smoothly. The main office in Israel even offered ways to adjust the plan to our changing needs as well as how to save. Very impressed and want to pass my experience on.

This company is a joke. They charged be $ 141 for what was meant to be a $ 29.99 plan. They refunded the money after my bank issued them a fradulent charge notice for their bait and switch. After getting to Israel, I realized I didn’t need a phone there after all, as every single place we went had WiFi anyway.
4 months after getting back from my trip (without this phone), they send me an email saying that I owe them their refund back because they couldn’t keep their records straight. A completely ridiculous excuse for a business and totally shady. Don’t waste your time or money, they are an actual joke. On top of that, their business is obsolete because you can bring your smartphone to Israel and it will work with Wifi (which is about 90% of the country INCLUDING all the bus rides).

Horrible experience. They charged me $ 10 to ship the SIM card to my hotel in Israel. It wasn’t there when I arrived. When I finally received the SIM card, it didn’t work! I spoke to their customer service, which was a futile effort. I couldn’t barely understand them, but basically what I got from the conversation was that it was my fault, not theirs. When I got home, I spoke to Bank of America, who opened and closed a case in my favor. Now, two years later, they are making a debt collection claim against me for their service that never worked. AVOID TALK’N’SAVE AT ALL COSTS!

I rented 2 cell phones and a data modem from them in Israel January 2012. The modem NEVER worked despite troubleshooting and even getting a second one. The phone plan, as I understood it was that we paid only for calls we used as is evident by the fact I only used 2 minutes during my full 10 days. They will not fix the charges and are saying that’s the plan I clearly stated in the recording. If so, why wouldn’t they send me the plan specifics WITH the phone when I pick them up? Or print it somewhere on the package? Or have the phone tll me how many minutes I have left, like others in the group had?

i used talknsave in jerusalem, israel. i ‘googled’
phone rentals two hours before i left and had had no experience with this kind of service, but they seemed
to have good rates –and once my traveling companion
figured out you had to type in the address in hebrew
on thegps we had no trouble finding the rental
company. i was happy to see that as a dedicated
iphone useer i could learn to use their phones with
little or no trouble and the young man, an angeleno
who has resettled in israel, was so helpful that i
did not feel traumatized i also think that you can
call the 800 airline # with no fee which is a real
plus and that apparently this is also true for calls
to the us although i had no desire to talk to anyone.
however, if they had wanted to reach me, it would
have been easy and i was very surprised to see how
i did need the phone in israel! it was not only ag ood
rate but they give you an envelope which you stuff
thru the bars of the post office at the tel aviv
airport (because the post office is closed) and my’phonetook its place along with a whole bunch
of others-​and there was no problem with the return
or the bill. this was a very new experience for me
and a very positive one and im only sorry i cant remember the name of the young man who sold me
and my rabbi our phones, because it was a great
bargain! next time i’ll be more knowledgeable and
have the phone delivered before i leave, but i
was very pleased to discover this is how it is done
when you travel abroad and have no desire to
’jail break ’ your iphone!
