I tried this place since it’s close by new house. And, the service was excellent. I ordered large jerk chicken. Which to me the food was bland.

That’s good food! Coconut Grove is a small store with big flavors that have been serving great food for the last 12 years, so they’re doing something right! I visited on a Saturday around noon and thought the store was closed, because the open sign was not on and no one was inside, but after going in I found the owner and I was just the first customer. There didn’t seem to be any paper menus, but that’s because they have a fairly small menu, consisting of: Oxtails — $ 12 small Curried Goat — $ 9.50 small Curried Chicken — $ 8.25 small Stew Chicken — $ 8.25 small Jerk Chicken — $ 9 small BBQ jerk Chicken — $ 9 small Various Roti dishes starting at $ 8.75 Various patties — all $ 2 Coco Bread — $ 1.75 I ordered the large Jerk Chicken($ 10.25), which came with the chicken, either white rice and peas, or white rice w/veggies and fried plantains(all large orders come with this, and are about $ 1 more than the small menus) The jerk chicken flavor was really good, not too spicy, nice charred flavor, and fall off the bone tender. The chicken was chopped, and just a fair warning that even though it is chopped, bones are kinda littered throughout, so don’t bite down too hard that first time like I did thinking it’s boneless, but that’s my fault, not theirs. The rice and peas were also really flavorful, with rice that wasn’t mushy or too hard. Cooked just right, as well as the peas(which are pinto beans). You can get either the Oxtail sauce or Jerk sauce poured over the rice, but again, be careful. I had the Jerk sauce poured over the rice, and was picking out tiny bones every so often. The steamed cabbage wasn’t bad and the plantains weren’t also, but neither of these were the stars of my meal I wanted to get a spicy beef pie but was told that they’d just put them in the oven as I walked in and there’d be a 40 minute wait, because their customers don’t come so early and they don’t want them drying out. Very cool for keeping them fresh. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to try them. Service was quick, under 10 minutes, and customer service was super nice. Coconut Grove is located in a very small strip, with one exit to Lawrenceville hwy as well as Paden Drive, and it’s not difficult to get in or out of either exit. Based on the flavor and the really friendly customer service, i’ll be back. I do wish there weren’t so many bone pieces, but maybe this was a one time thing. Either way, nice little independent shop!

Great Jamaican food is(very) hard to find. This place is always consistent. Nice and friendly workers, and good authentic Caribbean food. They’re a little stingy with plantains and meat(while, very generous with rice), but all in all the food is great. My favorite Jamaican restaurant in GA!

This place is very good. Just had the oxtail with rice and peas. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The owners are always so nice and friendly. Consistently good.
