Even though I prefer their food during certain hours(7a-3p), I give 4 stars. The first time my hubby and I ate here, the breakfast and service were great. We tried again before coming home one night around 1am and it wasn’t as great but still good.

So jury duty put me in proximity of the diner. Needing something quick for lunch, I decided to try it. I was surprised that they up charged me for wheat bread on my sandwich but I’ll give that to them. The bacon I requested«crisp» was quite a few minutes away from it’s intended destination. The service was attentive. I’m certain I could have requested that the bacon be cooked more and would have been accommodated. Honestly, though, the atmospheric barometer was pointing me towards the door. I would suggest stopping in if you see Alan and Jennifer.

After the Jay Z concert and driving alllll around the A trying to find some food… ughhhh…ATL please get better… restaurants should be opened later! Okay… back on track the review… Service was awesome… it seemed as if the waitresses were like a girl u went to school went back in the day… knows you… so they go the extra mile. Kudos for the service. Now the food however… just put it this way… I shouldv’e cooked something when I got home. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t unique at all. I ordered the seafood deal for 10.00. shrimp 2 crab cakes and fries. I had to add lots of salt to fries. The shrimp tasted like the ones you get in the frozen section. Crab cakes were bland… the cocktail sauce made it all taste good and they were not hesitant to give me more upon asking. Drinks kept coming but I won’t remember this meal. Oh see… I had already forgotten I had a soup first… Progresso you may want to check on this… But it’s all good to know that you have a place to go late night other than your typical Waffle House. And the menu has a lil bit of everything on it… and maybe I shouldn’t have oredered seafood at a diner… maybe that was my mistake… Shouldve went with the Liver and Onions maybe… or something more dinery… is that a word? LOL I would go back yes if everything else is closed… but for no other reason than that :-)

Ok, I honestly don’t think this palce deserves a 5 star, i’m being very generous with 3 stars because they do open late and decent location for nocturnals like me when hunger kicks in. Otherwise, this wouldn’t be my top choice to go eat because the food and service is great. i could get the same treatment at waffle house.

WTF, I live near this diner and have passed it on numerous occasions. My husband and I would joke about going there because there was never anyone in there. Well after getting my Unilocal account and seeing that people had rated it with 5* I convinced my husband to go there. Big mistake. I tried the BBQ and he tried the fish and shrimp while my 2 yo had the chicken fingers. The fish and shrimp were Captain D quailty. The BBQ pork was served to me ice cold. I had to request that it be taken back and warmed. We always finish all of our food, however none of us did that day. Also you would think the servers would be friendly since this is a southern establishment, not so— very cold. However the patrons were very friendly and that made me think of southern hospitality. Needless to say we will not be eating here again. Don’t believe the hype, unless you are looking to eat Gorton Fisherman.

Was down in Georgia for a wedding, and after I got off the plane in Atlanta I knew I’d want a proper southern meal on the drive to Athens. Gwinnett Diner didn’t disappoint. I had the chicken and biscuits(x3!) with delicious white gravy. The coffee kept coming and we had the friendliest waitress south of the Mason-Dixon line(thanks for the free mug, Terry!). My only regret was that we weren’t able to stop on the way back to ATL. Terry was going to be making her grandmother’s muffin recipe. Next time!

This place is famous in the Gwinnett area, and across the country for reasons other than their tasty inexpensive food. Personally, I don’t think I know of too many other diners or restaurants in Atlanta that were featured in a scene from a popular movie among college students that came out in 2000 called«Road Trip.»( ) Come on, you remember the scene: the little skinny kid who was also in ‘Hustle and Flow’ orders some toast and when the waiter brings it to him he informs the waiter he can’t eat the toast because it has butter on it. Then the waiter politely apologizes, and takes the toast back to the kitchen and… well watch the movie for the rest of the disgusting, yet hilarious scene. I used to frequently eat at the Gwinnett Diner when I was a student at Georgia Perimeter College. They are by far one of the best diners to eat at in the Gwinnett area. Not to mention their food is inexpensive, yet surprisingly tasty. I am not saying that you should take a special trip out to this area just to taste the food, but you should stop by if you are in the area. I usually stick to ordering from the breakfast portion of their menu, because for some reason I am always weary of eating anything else at a small family owned diner that looks like a dump from the outside. I am sure that they have other tasty things on their menu for individuals like Juia K. who do not share my strange phobia of ordering lunch items at a diner.
