I’ve been wearing glasses and contacts for about 40 years, and I’ve purchased many, many pairs of glasses and sunglasses in that time. I bought frames and had lens made and installed from opticians throughout the Tri-State area, some who were masters of their craft without a doubt. Jim Murray at Lawrenceville Opticians is among that group. IMO the difference is the quality of relationship that you’ll get from Jim. He’s truly patient and professional at all times and with everyone. My wife and daughter have also gotten glasses from Jim, and got A-1 treatment. He takes his time to make sure the fit is perfect, the glass frames are appropriate for you regarding your prescription and style needs, and to provide the highest quality products, materials and workmanship available. I have now been working exclusively with Jim at Lawrenceville Opticians for about 6 years and I’ve been delighted every time, whether it was a purchase for myself or my family. There is no question I will return when I require another pair of glasses, and I recommend Lawrenceville Opticians and Jim unhesitatingly and enthusiastically. FWIW I am now wearing Lindberg frames from Denmark(titanium, not inexpensive, but remarkably durable and comfortable … and I’m hard on my eyeglasses and very picky about fit and comfort), with Varilux lenses with scratch resistant coating and variable tinting for my day to day wear that I purchased from Jim. I also have a second pair of glasses that Jim made from a Paul Smith frame I had and he replaced the lenses for me, and a pair of prescription sunglasses in a Maui Jim frame I already owned as well too. In each case he handled the request with the same courtesy and professionalism … regardless of the fact that I wasn’t purchasing my frames from him. Whenever I have an issue, e.g.: one of the lenses in the Lindberg began to come loose he immediately made time to take care of it for me without charge or complaint. Jim … if you read this … thank you again.

I am an extraordinarily picky person when it comes to glasses. I spent over a year trying to find frames. The selection here isn’t large, but it doesn’t need to be, because they have the best stuff. I was most impressed how Dr. Jim spent so much time picking out frames with me. He was patient and a really good guy. Prices were equal or better than chain stores, but the service was far and away better than what you would get anywhere else. Afterward, when I went in to pick up my glasses, Dr. Jim spent a good half hour tweaking them to make sure they were perfect — he is just as picky about glasses as I am!

I’ve been getting my glasses from Lawrenceville Opticians for 25 years. I’d say I’d been buying them, but I’ve been going there since I got my very first pair when I was 10 and my mom was paying back then. They have a good selection of frames, but the real reason to go here is the service. You just don’t get service like this anywhere anymore. Jim is great. Once you’re a customer you can also return to him for adjustments of your glasses(which totally extends their lives). So much better than a junky chain place.
