Had the chicken dinner today with potatoe salad, coleslaw. I’m talking a half a chicken, a big chicken. Smoked perfection, falling off the bone, not dry! I love the smoked flavor don’t even need bbq sauce! I’ll be back!

A coworker of mine lived in Lawton for many many years and we had to take a trip up to Fort Sill for a few days. One of the places I was told I had to eat at was John & Cooks BBQ. We shared a plate with 4 meats and the pulled pork was fantastic. WAY better than Salt Lick(huge plus!), the spicy sausage was okay as it isn’t my thing, the brisket seemed a little overcooked as it had been sittin in the warmer for awhile, but it was still tasty. The ribs were amazing. I really enjoyed the BBQ sauce that was in the yellow mustard container. It was sweet, tangy and had a bit of spicyness to it. When I eat my BBQ or food in general, I want to taste it, not drown my food in spicyness or sauce. Pro tip– Get the beans. I am not a fan of beans, but I was talked into getting them. I WANTMORE! They were so tasty in a mustard type sauce. I’d never had it like that before. If I am ever back in the area, I will definitely go back!

Let me start out saying this: I haven’t written a review on Unilocal in nearly a year and I’m popping in to write about this because it was that level of awful. I had pulled pork, beans, chips and bread. The pulled pork had literally zero seasoning. Nothing. Not even salt or pepper. The beans were the kind that come out of a beanie weanie can and then a bottle of mustard was added to them. The chips were just a regular bag of lays potato chips and that’s the only kind they have. The bread was the cheapest, whitest wonder bread one could possible purchase. All of this hideousness for $ 12. I’m a small eater and I was still quite hungry after this $ 12 meal of dog food. Oh, don’t let me forget the bbq sauce. I squirted some on my plate and tasted it with my finger. Three times. I could detect no flavor. I had better bbq sauce on my soy burgers in third grade out of the school cafeteria. Anyone that likes this food obviously hasn’t eaten at a gas station because even that would be better. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

I was in Lawton taking care of some business and had a taste for some barbeque. This place has changed so much from when I first arrived in Lawton during the late 90s. I had a rib dinner and let’s just say I have had better. The meat wasn’t fresh like it had been cooked that day. The sides were just okay. on my next visit I’ll be sure to skip this place if I am looking for barbeque!

Don’t let the location deter you! I got the«Real Pit Platter» with beans and potato salad. Everything tastes great. This is exactly the type of BBQ you would hope to get in Oklahoma. The staff is friendly and very helpful. When the plate was presented the aroma of the all the different meats made my mouth water. The rich smokey taste with the perfect balance of the sweet tangy sauce(yellow bottle) was so satisfying… I could more into detail but you MUST come and try this place out. You won’t be disappointed! =)

Some dang good bbq. Ribs were falling off the bone, brisket was moist and smokey. Even the beans and cole slaw were really good. Ordered a slice of the sweet potato pie and it was just about perfect.

The waitress was so kind and the atmosphere was perfect. The food was incredible and provided size able portions for little money. The beef brisket was great, and the loaded bake potato was insane.

Amazing! Literally a hole in the wall! But you can tell it’s where all the locals go. The staff was wonderful. My husband had just graduated from Army BCT and they brought him a cloth to drape over his dress uniform and kept asking if he needed more food cause he must be hungry. The price was right and the food amazing! I highly suggest you take your soldier there. Don’t be alarmed by the look of the outside haha those are always the best places to try

Definitely the best BBQ I’ve had in a while. The platter is the way to go. They have very friendly service and the food came out quick. This is a new regular spot for my friends and me.

Even though this restaurant has been in business for many years it was our first time experience. I ordered brisket and my husband ordered pulled pork. Both meals were delicious! You had a choice of two sides. The meal arrived quickly. I don’t know how long they have been in this location but the restaurant was very clean and the staff so friendly. We also ordered lemon cake for dessert. Yummy! Do give this out of the way restaurant a chance to give you excellent barbecue.

My friend and I with our two infants Unilocaled a highly rated place for lunch. BBQ sounded great and 135stars… well that’s fantastic. So we headed over. All those stars were right. Four generations of tasty goodness! Our waiter gave spot on suggestions. He was fun and friendly. I wish he was my neighbor of something, I guess cause he made me feel like one. Open the door for us on the way out too. The food was melting in your mouth! Fell right off the bone goodness! We had the variety plate. We enjoyed the ribs, brisket, but the hot links weren’t our personal taste even though U believe would be great for someone else. And the sauces were all different kinds of goodness. Tangy, spicy, sweet. All delicious! Crazy enough those baked beans, I can’t get out of my head! High mustard sweet/salty unique! I really enjoyed it. It tasted like country time pink lemon aid. so if that’s not your thing skip it. Defiantly going back many times! check it out!

I’m here in Lawton Oklahoma and had a craving for some homemade BBQ and I found this spot right here when you come in to the place the staff are very friendly & courteous there is definitely a lot of southern hospitality here the place is welcoming & inviting very I ordered the Dinner which comes with your choice of meats from pulled pork, ribs, beef brisket, sausage, hot links, or tips & there sides are baked beans, cole slaw, or potato salad with(2) slices of white bread. Let me start off by saying this family business has been going strong for over 30+ years & everything here is Homemade I had the Beef Brisket it was fabulous Mmmm so tender & flavorful than you add there BBQ sauce yum I liked the sweet & sassy it was sweet & spicy. I loved it. Now I got the potato salad which was a different kind of potato salad I never tasted anything like it before it was smooth & sweet every bite I took I wanted more. I got to try there sweet potato pie it was a slice of heaven I was told besides it being homemade Momma made it & she makes all the desserts here unfortunately I didn’t get to try them all but I will come back!!! I can say this restaurant has all the comforts of home all there food was Delicious something straight out of a kitchen that cooks & seasons there food with lots of love it kept me wanting more. So if ukur looking for great BBQ this is a must spot to eat trust me you won’t be disappointed.

I would consider this a hole in the wall. Excellent BBQ. My friend and I both ordered the Sampler each. Comes with a good serving of brisket, pulled pork, hot links, a couple of smoked ribs, a slice of bread, and a choice of the typical BBQ sides(coleslaw, BBQ beans, potato salad). Everything was excellent as it was. Great smoky flavor in everything while maintaining the meat’s natural flavors. I’m generally not a fan of hot links but their’s was soo good. Drinks are separate from the meal but I got a sweet tea that came in a large 32oz cup. I finished everything in my order and was so full I though I was having a «food baby.» I probably should of took some to-go but I just couldn’t stop stuffing it in my mouth. I’m extremely happy I found this place because I was wanting some good BBQ.

Awesome rib special on Monday! Ribs were so good-didn’t need any bbq sauce at all(although the hot bbq sauce was good). Great bark on the ribs and tons of smoke flavor.

This place is so good! The sauces are ridiculously tasty, the meats are fabulous. Our server was awesome! Wish we had these guys back home! Huge portions, the family meal would have fed 6 people! 3 of us are stuffed to the gills! Plenty of left overs for breakfast! We will be back!
