I only had roll there, not tapenyaki. Roll was good. It was little over priced — but what can you say? People working in Japanese restaurants think they can overprice it all they want. Despite they are not Japanese, it was alright. Only reason I give 4 star is because it is lawton, ok. IFITWASSOMEWHEREELSE, I would give 3 or 2. their service was not good. but not too bad. There are many other restraurants have worse service, cough, kimono, cough.

This place is still a solid 4 star Hibachi restaurant. I just wanted to update this to say I finally took the liberty of trying the filet and lobster combo; my first time trying any steak here. I’ve only got three letters for my initial response: OMG! I was honestly surprised at how well seasoned their steak is! And considering our Hibachi was being prepared by a white guy, it came out pretty damn good! Interesting side story: upon the chef serving the old guy next to me his beef bulgogi, the customer said, «gomabseubnida»…only the chef didn’t comprehend at first. Both myself and the old dude informed him it was Korean for«thank you». Yup. This was definitely like seeing a sore thumb of a white guy in a sea full of Asians. Yay for equal opportunity and folks who can cook well!

Nothing beats this place! We go as often as we can, they are kid friendly and super nice! I get the vegetarian meal and it’s awesome! It’s great for date night and for a afternoon out with the kids. I wish they opened earlier because we wait until they open to eat a late lunch sometimes lol we have a favorite chef but they are all awesome!

I would stay away from this establishment as they are very deceitful on their bills. As you can see in the photo I posted they state in all CAPS that gratuity isn’t included. Yet my wife saw they did in fact charge gratuity even though the receipt says they didn’t. Food was mediocre the chef was the only thing that made this worth while if I had to find one positive. If you dine here check your receipts very closely.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the bad reviews focus on how terrible people think the hibachi show is. Idc about how showy my waiter is. I care about quality of service and food so my husband and I sat at the sushi bar. I ordered two drinks; they were pretty, strong and reasonably priced. I’m from okc and sushi there can be sketchy, so I was really uncertain about the quality of sushi in Lawton, Oklahoma. I kept it simple and ordered salmon nigri and a philly roll. I was worried when I saw a white guy preparing my food. Everything turned out to be top notch and fresh. Just as good or better as anything I’ve had in the city. My husband got a steak with rice and all. He enjoyed it and I liked what I tried. With drinks and all the bill was under $ 40. Service was great, I’d definitely come back.

Pros: Bulgogi roll is only five bucks! The ginger salad is refreshing. Staff is attentive and sweet. Nigiri sushi tastes fresh. Cons: The miso soup is great tasting hot water, nothing more. The rolls will fall apart.

As an easy to please, big-time«foodie», I came in during the evening with a party of six and waited at the bar for 30 minutes prior to the bar tended«tending» to us. Once our seats for the hibachi were ready, the waitress notified us, then left before we were able to pay for the drinks at the bar. After walking around the entire restaurant to find the seats by ourselves, we were finally seated and went through a complicated ordeal of simply ordering water from a waiter that may have not been competent enough to write down the word water. We noticed the restaurant was not even at its capacity but it looked chaotic seeing the disorganization around us. The perception was that management was doing a poor job at managing staff and the waiters were running around as if it was everyone’s first day on the job. The main story I want to capture on this review is that all six of us ordered sushi as an appetizer. Four out of six eventually came before the hibachi chef began cooking. The chef was great, didn’t have much of a personality but I won’t ding points because of that. However, the fried rice he made had a ton of teriyaki sauce which is not even close to authentic Chinese or Japanese fried rice. Anyway, my friend asked the waiter where was the rest of the sushi because we are almost finished eating hibachi at this point. The waiter responds very sarcastically«I don’t know, there’s a lot of orders.» So my friend, she responds that well it’s only nigiri and you brought all of our other sushi rolls almost an hour ago, but not the nigiri. He then begins to give a lot more attitude and angrily asked if we want to see a manager instead of simply checking on the sushi for us(that he obviously forgot to add to the order.) At that point, it began to be a bad experience. All in all, the ambiance is very nice for a restaurant in Lawton Oklahoma. There is obviously a huge customer base here because its been here a long time and the food can qualify as «Good.» Although DONOT order the lobster… extremely overcooked and not prepared as good as it could’ve been. He cooked it dry, with no season or butter. Once it was crispy on both sides, he diced it up, then added butter and season and severed me the well well well done lobster. Overall bad experience but has the potential to be an amazing restaurant, just needs different management. I really can’t speak for the hibachi chefs because our one guy doesn’t represent all of them. He tried, but I’ve had better even in Lawton. I’d highly recommend Kimono Steak and Sushi Bar. The building isn’t as fancy, but food quality is much much better and if you’ve ever been overseas, you’d appreciate the more authentic taste of Kimono. I won’t be back to Kobe again.

We took my son here after his graduation from the Army. A great experience and great food. For being inland the sushi was pretty good.

Great food, my wife and I get the fried rice every time we go cause it’s easily the best fried rice in town. Pricing is definitely not cheap, however we always leave with 1 or 2 to-go boxes for lunch next day. Chef’s are amazing at what they do and some of them are starting to add new tricks to their routine so can’t wait to see the next show. On busy days prepare to be sat with other people, it’s not really a huge issue for us as we always get to talk to new people each time but some might find it annoying. Servers are friendly, I’ve yet to have a complaint about one.(Now to deal with what others reviewers are saying, Joyce Y is wrong, place is not closed down the entire strip was under reconstruction,(pay attention to the open signs people) also as I said we leave with to-go boxes every time, and pay around $ 40, there is PLENTY of food left over. Andrew D doesn’t know what a kitchen sink is I guess, yes behind the bar is a wash sink but it’s only for actual glass cups and wine glasses, strictly alcoholic drinks only for that sink no «dishes.» Ask for the children, yes it can be annoying hearing them screaming at times, but be real, this is Kobe Steakhouse in Lawton OK. You don’t have movie stars coming in here daily. Tell people they can’t bring their kids and you lose half your customers.) So all in all a great place for the occasional splurg: D

Food is pretty good. My wife and I can eat there under $ 10 if we just drink water. We have also tried their more expensive plates and have been very satisfied. It does need some help on cleanliness but seems to be getting a little more attention lately. All in all I will go back.

One-Star is being tolerant. My wife and I have given this restaurant several chances by justifying to ourselves each time it would get better. We were wrong! Each and every time it re confirms our disgust and frustration. We won’t be returning. It gradually goes down hill every year. I couldn’t agree more with the recent review about the screaming and yelling kids. People, this is a $ 20-$ 30/plate restaurant, not a place to bring your undisciplined kids to ruin the dining experience for everybody else. Kobe management should address this issue and make accommodations for a kids room — or quite possibly a 12 and over policy. Secondly, my wife and I’s most recent experience, we told ourselves we were going to give it one more shot, and just eat a couple sushi rolls out by the bar area. To say the least, we couldn’t have been more disgusted with the appearance and non-cleanliness of the area behind the bar. We were eating our food right in front of their dish washing sink. Come on now! Highly recommend newcomers not to eat here and try Lawton’s other two new hibachi/sushi restaurants. They are both great! Samurai or Kimono on 82nd street!

Food is good but the service and price suck the enjoyment out of the experience. I would rather travel to Wichita Falls and eat rather than put up with the rudeness and over priced items. Ambiance is dark and great to see the cooks and the flames flying from the grill. Try it for yourself but I will not be returning.

Went after a long hiatus and really disappointed. The place was filthy, again. The hostess was no where to be seen, again. When she did show up I explained that we would be happy to wait for a hibachi table\room that did not include screaming crying kids. I got the deer in the headlight stare and a follow me wave… to a room with… screaming crying kids, again. Folks why are you bringing your kids to an expensive Hibachi steak house on a Friday night? Inappropriate to say the least. Also none of the dinners are under 20 bucks. Every kid I have seen eat at this place takes one bite and then plays with the rest for the duration, oh that is while they make dinner a noisy intolerant exercise in dinning futility for the rest of us. Last review of this place and last time here. Never going back. I gave it a 2 because the foods not bad, kickin fried rice with that mayonaise sauce, Gonna miss that… and the Cooks are always very good, very friendly. I think the staff and food are OK but managment has its head up its Hibachi!

This place got a great presentation for the hibachi not so great on the food. Meat was over cooked veggies undercooked. And the sushi took way to long.

My husband and I really like hibachi grills and sushi and we thought the place was great! Its a little older on the inside but I think the food makes up for it. Where we sat it was clean and the chef was awesome. Very well trained. The sushi was great, the steak was to die for and they have some regulars who know everyone’s names.

One of my first nights in Lawton, a new acquaintance invited me to the Kobe Steakhouse. She told me it was the best place in town. Hmmm… some two years later, I finally went here to eat with this(now) friend! Knowing the Unilocal reviews for Kobe, I wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary. We had our group of 8 going for Hibachi this past Saturday night. Although they were busy, we were seated and received our drinks promptly. I had the chicken hibachi. The taste was very good and the serving size more than ample for a second meal in a take home box. I loved the ginger salad dressing too. For a group as large as ours on a busy, Saturday night — our service and food was A — OK, delicious! I wish I hadn’t waited two years to eat here. I would certainly return.

For Lawton, it’s pretty good. The service was a bit slow and they warned us before we even ordered, so I’ll give them that. The sushi was ok, nothing special or extraordinary. The hibachi was pretty good though… everything was cooked well, and the show/chef was entertaining. What I would recommend is the Hibachi soup over the Miso… much better choice. If you like seafood & chicken and had to choose… go for the seafood! The seafood hibachi just tasted better, had better flavor overall… I had shrimp, lobster and chicken… and the chicken was my least favorite. Serving size was perfect too! Would I go again… sure, why not, but if I just want sushi, I’d probably just go to the Commissary on Ft. Sill and pick it up there & eat at home.
