–Friendly Staff(5 stars) –Good drinks(4 stars) –Inconsistent food quality(3 stars) *My steak(ordered med rare) was so charred on the outside that I could not even enjoy it! My partner’s chicken was just decent. If you’re staying at the Icicle Village it is very convenient, however, I would only come back to JJ Hill’s for drinks and venture into town for the rest of your meals.

New Years day and town was an absolute ZOO! No way did we want to try and fight getting back in, parking and fighting for a table somewhere. Staying at the hotel here and gave it a try since the menu looked ok. Had a great experience. Seated fairly quickly, service was fine, they were packed and had a couple of huge groups to deal with, but we never had to wait too long for anything. Wife had the burger and said it was good, kids meals were fine, though a bit odd that they come with a cookie but no fries or other side($ 1 more I think to add fries to the kid meal). The Swiss Schnitzel was great though. We’ve had some pretty bad German food in town if you venture past simple brats, but this was not just passable, it was surprising good as was the spatzel. JJ Hills will now join Kingfisher at Sleeping Lady as our two favorite sit down places when in Leavenworth. The train that goes around is great too, not sure what some of the prior reviewers were expecting but am glad we ignored some of the complaints below and gave it a try. Great dinner and avoided the hassle of the main part of town on a packed evening, double win.

Great gluten free pasta, decent salmon, lots of kids options. Our eating experience was a 4 out of 5. Service was a 2 out of 5. It took about 7 minutes to be acknowledged just to put in a request to be seated. Multiple people ignored us as we stood at the front. Another 10 to be seated in a not full restaurant. 10 for drinks — no refills offered. And, so on. Make sure you have time and patience. The food is good.

This was a horrible experience. We were seated promptly, and promptly forgotten. My husband wanted to see how long it would take before someone would come by to take our order. After 15 minutes of being ignored, and watching multiple tables come in after us getting service AND food, I decided I’d had enough. We flagged down a waiter, gave him our drink and food order. I still had hopes to recoup our evening. Until the food came. My son’s mac and cheese was cold and the cheese wasn’t even melted. Our daughter’s Jagger Schnitzel was barely edible with a soggy breaded pork loin, congealed sauce and spaetzle that was crunchy. My husband ordered the Veal Cordon Bleu, which was barely passable as food. The best item of the night was my grilled chicken breast with roasted veggies, even if the sauce was too thick and clumpy. I suggest only eating there if you are staying there.

Rude as hell! Ignored us for 15 minutes while 3 waiters waited on 3 people who sat after us. Spoke with the general manager and he just apologized and stated he was not there. I believe since we were not ordering their overpriced drinks we were treated less. Most of the staff at this establishment are equally rude and have no understanding of customer service.

Wow, this has to be the best restaurant in Leavenworth! The food is all homemade and tastes amazing. My favorite is the chicken and veggies over quinoa. The service is as good as anywhere. The wait staff is friendly and professional. Always there when you need them but never intrusive. And they always treat you like a friend! The chef even came to our table to make sure the food was to our satisfaction. It’s obvious that everyone that works there enjoys their job and takes it seriously. Great food, great service and perfect execution. I highly recommend JJ Hills!

Saw the bartender put somebody’s glasses in their mouth like they were brushing their teeth(actually heard the glasses click on his teeth) because the customer’s glasses«looked like a toothbrush». Pretty sure I threw up in my mouth a little bit. Service was atrocious and the drinks were overpriced and terrible. Never going back.

This place was surprisingly good and reasonably priced given it’s in a tourist town.(note: it’s inside the Best Western on the West end of town.) We had a party of 10 on a Sunday night, so we made reservations. We were seated promptly and got our food in a decent amount of time. The food was really good and the service was friendly. It’s definitely a kid friendly place to eat but also suitable for adults(it had a good beer selection and a nice variety in the menu.)

Terrible. Gluten free option were so promising, but they got every dish wrong — including the salad. Only good thing is they did not change for the meals.

A friend and I decided to try a new place for dinner on our annual evening out for birthday dinner and summer theatre play. I had the salmon and asparagus fettuccine. The salmon had a slight smoky flavor and it was an overall good dinner. My friend was going to have salad and dessert but her salad was so big she didn’t need dessert. Prices were average. No starter course with dinner; did get bread and butter. Our issue was with the seating. We had a choice of inside or out. It was a nice evening so we opted for outside. There were patio misters around the roof and they absolutely soaked the tables. We saw 3 people move to other chairs. Also, we were seated under a fan and it made a terrible racket. Service was excellent.

Sat in the bar after a hot day in Leavenworth. Nice selection of tap beer and don’t forget happy hour at 4−6pm. Chatted with bartenders Erik and Amanda who were both very nice and friendly. Thanks guys, we will be back soon!

Our food was mediocre and cold. We felt unwelcome when we visited the restaurant for happy hour. When we went for dinner the following night, we were told the longer than normal time for our server to take our order was because someone cut themselves in the kitchen! How gross to have know that! Do yourself a favor and eat in town!

Friday night in Leavenworth, just checked-in to our room at The Best Western, where to go to dinner? The on-property location of J J Hills Fresh Grill! A hotel grill doesn’t usually come with high expectations, but I would highly recommend this one for dinner. We had a Living Social Deal for the weekend stay, which included a $ 50 dinner certificate and two free beers. We started with the free beer. I had the Wienerstein, which is a summery Bavarian beer. It was cold and refreshing. Enough said! My partner had the Icicle Ridge IPA. He also liked it. We both had a few as the evening wore on. So, immediately, we liked our server, Wendy Brown. I think she’s also the manager. She made the evening for us. She was a personable, yet efficient server, which is so rare to find these days. We sat outside on the patio, which had these cool misters(pun intended), which made the warm evening awesome. We both really liked this as we haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy too much sunshine this year. It was great to have it for the entire weekend in Leavenworth. I had a burger and fries, which was perfectly cooked and promptly delivered. My partner had the coconut shrimp, which he said was«delicious.» Wendy even made up a custom martini for me to pair with the carrot cake that I had for dessert. It was awe-inspiring. Who does that? I often am not impressed with restaurant service, so when a great server is found, like Wendy, the world needs to know. To top off the great experience, not related to this restaurant, we met the manager of the new winery opening in town, Goose Ridge Winery. She gave us a complimentary pass to a free wine tasting on their soft-opening happening the weekend we were there. You had me at winery! My partner joined their wine club. He wasn’t even drunk like most people are when they join wine clubs.

Good service but food was only okay. Not a lot of selection on the menu. Sweet potato fries were good.

Had brunch here one day during a recent trip to Leavenworth. We had been told that they do Bavarian brunch, which was not the case. the food was mediocre at best and overly crowded. I would recommend doing something to help people move through the lines so they aren’t backed up and jumping around.

This is a small restaurant located in the Icicle Inn. A look at the menu makes one think they are trying for upscale dinning. Lots of items you would never see at a family restaurant. There is a toy train running around the entire place. You will either be entertained by this piece of whimsy or it will get on your nerves after the 5 dozen times it passes above your head. You better come hungry because they don’t cut back on the portion size. I had the fettucine alfredo and it was a huge plate of noodles and sauce. It was good, but it was overkill on the alfredo sauce. They could have cut back on 60% on the sauce and it would be much better. Coat the noodles, but don’t drown them in a sea of alfredo.

Funny thing — I can’t check in because the gps thingy says I’m 1.3 miles away from here, lol. At any rate, JJ Hills is easily one of Leavenworth’s better restaurants. It gives some much needed variety to Leavenworth’s typical fare of schnitzel, hamburgers, pancakes, waffles, and hash browns with eggs. The menu offerings are more or less West Coast, which is nice to see. My wife and I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere, and the rear dining area, just beyond the main dining area the you enter when you first come into the restaurant, the feeling was somewhat intimate, simply because the lights were dimmed somewhat. And as another reviewer has mentioned, the model train which runs around the top of the room lends some color to the place. We had a vegan entrée(a rarity for me), which consisted of sauteed veggies done with a nice pesto, on a bed of brown rice. We also ordered a side of chilli, a whipped baked potato, and a side of sauteed veggies(different from the entrée). Along with a couple of brews, it was a very enjoyable meal. The only down side was that the carrots were almost raw. I don’t mind raw carrots when they’re supposed to be raw(like in my lunch at work), but when they’re supposed to be cooked, I like ‘em to BE cooked. JJ Hills is NOT a five star restaurant in the typical way you’d think of a five star restaurant, but is still a VERY nice place to dine if you’re in Leavenworth. As another reviewer mentioned, if you compare it with most of the restaurants in this town, it is a five star joint when compared with them. I’m very much looking forward to returning to JJ Hills the next time we are in Leavenworth, which will probably be in a year or two.

Staying at the Best Western, we had the complimentary breakfast at JJ Hills. For breakfast JJ Hills is entirely do it yourself. The dining room was very crowded when we were there and we had to wait for a table to open up. The staff do bus the tables though and make sure that there is a plentiful supply of food. They also open up the boardroom off the lobby as an extra dining room. The highlight were the«cook ‘em yourself» waffles. Three waffle irons are lined up and have built-in timers. Pour the batter in and just under 3 minutes later, your waffle will be ready. So if you’re looking for waiter service and lots of cooked to order items, don’t go. If you’re looking for a basic buffet with the added benefit of the waffles, check it out. And of course if you’re a hotel occupant, it is free.
