Red Door Woodfired Grill

I Love this restaurant with my only complaint being they are always busy so we often have to wait for a table. They have a great happy hour with appetizer and drink specials — we always get the artichoke flatbread. Also, Their burgers are the best I’ve had in KC! The sweet cheeses burger is my absolute favorite!

Didn’t really know what to expect as we are from out of town and had never heard of this place. Found it one the Unilocal app and it sounded interesting. Loved the aroma of the wood fired grill when we 1^st walked in the door. Nice clean place and good atmosphere. The food was really good and our waitress was on point. This is a definite repeat for us.

I’ve been here a handful of times, but specifically came in today for their fried chicken special. It’s marinated in jalapeño juice for 4 days and dipped in a jalapeño sauce. I got the two piece dark with mashed potatoes and requested the jalapeño sauce on the side. The chicken was flavorful with a hint of jalapeño, but it was on the greasy side. The jalapeño sauce on the side was odd. It kinda reminded me of hot sauce but thicker. I didn’t particularly care for it. I’ve had their burgers and nachos which I found to be good. They also have a decent happy hour menu that I will return for.

Disappointed when I had such high hopes based on the previous reviews. We decided to go check it out since we understand they are moving into Brookside.
I ordered the Salmon club, my dining guest ordered the cheeseburger; both were to come with fries. Keeping it simple. Salmon club came with some sort of bacon relish that was slaty and overpowering I took it off the sandwich to try and finish it. Why not just bacon? Hmmmmm. Also, no fries arrived with my sandwich. I had to wait for them. They were not worth the wait as they were overcooked and oily.
My guest’s burger was overcooked and dry. His fries arrived but were nothing special.
Service was fine. We will not return. There is so much better food elsewhere. I hope when they move into Brookside they execute on food much better.

I’ve been looking for a neighborhood place that’s easy to grab a cocktail or hang out and eat dinner.
This is your place. I kinda hate to expose it because don’t want it to get so busy I can’t walk in to get a rye– neat and get the best burger in the area. And I’m not EVEN going to talk about their fried chicken. Good food. Good aura.
And if you like lemon meringue, order as an appetizer

Oh hell yes. It’s that good.

Very modern bar, with great food specials. I had the boulevard burger, and let’s be real how had no other place to my knowledge come up with it. Boulevard beer infused cheese and beer battered onion rings it just screams kc.

I can’t believe I drove all the way to Leawood to try this place out.
Honestly, it’s nothing impressive. It’s just in a good location.
Food, was alright. It’s not like they had anything that popped out. It your typical– flatbreads, burgers, salad kind of menu. There wasn’t anything hat special that says «Yes this is our name this is what we are known for». Know to have the best burgers in KC??? Ummm according to whom? The burger was just a burger. The Area 51 burger was too similar to BRGR’s Cinco De Mayo burger.
Service was lacking. Sat at a table for about 15ish minutes before I had to wave down a server to figure out who our server was! Okay, so she was training a new girl. That’s fine. But we had 3 servers and 2 bussers that just walked passed us without even a slight acknowledgment. The MOD did’t even notice either.
The whole atmosphere was not comfortable. Needless to say it had a chain restaurant feel to it.

The happy hour deals are great. Had their smoked wings. OFF THE CHARTS GOOD!

Went for lunch on Monday– burger day ($ 5 classic burger, $ 8 specialty). Had to wait for ~15 minutes with co workers; the place was packed. Got the spicy bleu cheese burger and it was fantastic. The meat was perfectly cooked, and the toppings were fantastic. I subbed Brussel sprouts in for the fries, and it was a great decision. They were served with a bacon jam. Great lunch spot

Drinks we ordered did not taste anything like they should nor could a trace of alcohol be detected. Happy Hour menu was shortened and crowd was sparse.

Had high hopes for this one. Burgers were way overdone and sweet potato fries were tasteless and not crisp. Mixed drinks weren’t on par. Server was fine, but seemed to know that our food was going to suck and no one asked how the food was… Hmmmm.

By far one of the best restaurants in the area. This place reminds me a lot of some of my favorite bar and grills in Chicago. Well put together menu that can please most pallets, excellent atmosphere, and a moderate but well thought out craft beer selection.
There is a reason that this place is generally always packed. If you haven’t put Red Door on your list of restaurants in the area to visit, do so.

Honestly the best first bite of a burger I’ve ever had, this place is legit, they have a full bar, and very comfortable seating and the lighting is perfect, really awesome that they have a huge window in the kitchen where you can watch food being prepared while logs burn hearing the grill and causing a great and unique taste to the beef, I ordered a sweet cheeses and it literally knocked my socks off, I guess they are used to it cause they didn’t say much, but seriously this is a must try, and to top it off Monday’s they have their standard burger for 5 bucks and several other specialty burgers and fries, for about 8, so take advantage you won’t be disappointed.

Great food and atmosphere. The Porkys Revenge burger was excellent. Bacon jam was a perfect compliment to tender beef and roasted tomatoes. Wife had a salad that had a large piece of fresh salmon with crisp vegetables. Diverse and affordable by the glass wine selection. Will definitely be back soon.

Worth the wait.
The hostess told us 15 minutes… we waited 35… on a Thursday! The place was packed. Nice, trendy atmosphere. Happy hour drink specials were great.
The food? Awesome! My son had the meatloaf sandwich. He said it was «one of the best sandwiches he had ever eaten!» My husband had a burger and I had the jalepeno chicken. The only complaint was, «I wish I could have eaten it all.»

I ate here for the first time recently with a large group of friends. Our service was terrific and the food was also very good. I had their traditional burger and it was excellent. The only complaint I have is that the french fries I had were not what I expected. In all of the photos on here they look like nice fresh hand cut fries. The fries I got were crinkle cut freezer bag kind of fries. They were fine, but certainly nothing special. i would have preferred the ones that I saw in pictures. I left most of them on the plate and focused on the yummy appetizers we had ordered.
Major plus: While we were there it was a little slow (Tuesday night at like 8pm). We were sitting near the window where you can see into the kitchen. They spent all of their free time cleaning every inch in there! I have never seen a kitchen so thoroughly cleaned. My own house is no where near that clean. They were even up on ladders cleaning the TOPS of the vent hoods. I was impressed.

Just a cool place. I’ve reviewed this before and nothing has changed. This time it was just a quick visit with a vendor for a drink. I didn’t want anything heavy so I ordered a red wine spritzer — don’t do it… I am not a wine snob by any means but this drink was so sweet that I didn’t finish it after over an hour… Note to self — just order wine next time. I should have asked what wine they used before ordering.

I think Red Door is my new Kansas City favorite place for a juicy burger. I had the burger of the month an open face burger on Texas toast with fries, gravy, crumble bacon and a fried egg, juices running down your hand and dribbling on your chin, excellent flavor and creative concept. The steak fries subbed out for your regular fries are perfectly roasted and a compliment to your burger. This place has a great ambience staff is welcoming and attentive. Red Door is my new go to place for burgers.

Oh my goodness, what a pleasant surprise. One of the best hamburgers I’ve ever had — ‘Porky’s revenge and fries’ is a standout! Dressed with a roasted tomato, brie and bacon jam, this is one flavorful and delicious burger. The dressings don’t overpower the excellence of the beef, just compliment it.
The wood fired wings were excellent too. Juicy, charred, flavorful and … wait for it… NOT FRIED !!! The blue cheese dressing served with the wings was actually blue cheese too. So tired of restaurants adding a few mediocre blue cheese crumbles to ranch dressing and calling it blue cheese. That was not the case here! I’ll be back. If the burgers were any indication of how good everything else is, I’ll be back often.

Came back here and had a much better experience. I wouldn’t have come back if it weren’t for the manager reaching out to me about my poor experience the first time I visited.
I ordered the rotisserie chicken this time and it was delicious! I will be back!

Quick happy hour review. A group of 12 met for happy hour at 4:30pm on a Friday. The tables are big enough to easily accommodate a group that size! The staff were buzzing around us keeping drinks full and any newcomers were immediately offered drinks & menus.
I loved my mojito. Some places make them sickening sweet, but Red Door’s is perfect. Lots of mint!
